Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Ye Jian’s face blushed unseen in the dark night, but she did not dodge anymore, until Xia Jinyuan let her go, ”Be careful when driving on the road, don’t drive too fast.”

”Mm, I’ll come over to pick you up tomorrow morning.” Xia Jinyuan smiled again as he kissed Ye Jian’s forehead, reluctant to leave, ”Rest early, goodnight.”

”Mm, you should also rest early, goodnight.” Ye Jian, with her hand covering her flushed face to cool it down, carried the bags inside the door, while Xia Jinyuan stood behind her until she entered the family home.

When Ye Jian returned home, she saw the dim lights in the living room. She initially thought the Old Man Xia had already gone to sleep, but unexpectedly, Old Man Xia was still sitting in the living room watching TV.

Ordinarily, Old Man Xia would go to bed at nine in the evening. It was just a bit past nine now. Uncle Fu had urged him once, but Old Man Xia said he wanted to wait for Ye Jian to come back, so Uncle Fu stopped urging and stayed to wait with him.

Seeing Ye Jian return, Uncle Fu immediately stood up from the sofa, ”You’re back, eh? Are you tired?”

At home, Uncle Fu was always like an elder to Ye Jian, gentle and kind, always caring for her.

Old Man Xia smiled even more kindly, ”Our princess is back. Come, let Grandpa see what you’ve gathered today.” Anticipating her return, Old Man Xia was happy to wait.

Ye Jian didn’t expect that Old Man Xia and Uncle Fu were both still awake, and she was immediately filled with guilt. She dropped her bags to the floor and sat down next to Old Man Xia, embracing his arms, ”Grandpa, my apologies for making you wait, I will make sure to come back earlier next time.”

It was past nine and they hadn’t slept, surely because they were worried about her and were waiting.

”I haven’t waited long, haven’t waited long, I just wanted to see what you’ve got today.” Old Man Xia observed Ye Jian wearing clothes completely different from when she left, nodding with a smile, ”New clothes, did Little Six pick them out for you? He has good taste, they look nice.”

Ye Jian pointed at the handbags on the floor, moving closer to Old Man Xia and spoke teasingly, ”Grandpa, when do I not look good? Look, all bought by him, I didn’t even want to buy them, and he was not happy about it.”

Making her boyfriend look good, it couldn’t be helped, they were getting engaged after all.

It was surely necessary to give Grandpa some peace of mind.

”Yes, that’s true, our Fu family’s granddaughter looks beautiful in anything.” Old Man Xia agreed wholeheartedly with Ye Jian’s self-praise. In his eyes, his granddaughter was the best girl, incomparable to anyone, ”Why didn’t Little Six come in for a cup of tea before leaving? It’s late in the night, it shouldn’t be a problem, we have guest rooms at home.”

He wasn’t an outsider, he was definitely going to be the grandson-in-law, staying over for one night at home wouldn’t be an issue.

”We all thought Grandpa had already gone to sleep, so he didn’t dare to come in and disturb,” Ye Jian softly said, ”Tomorrow he will come to our home and play chess with Grandpa.”

”Little Six is thoughtful, that’s good, the way he takes care of you, Grandpa is also very reassured. It’s getting late, and you must be tired too, go and rest early,” Old Man Xia slowly stood up, ”Tomorrow Little Six will come over, he will surely take you out again.”

Ye Jian helped Old Man Xia to stand, ”Tomorrow we might go to the horse track, but it’s not decided yet, if we go to the horse track, would you like to come with us, Grandpa?”

”Hahaha, silly girl, you two go out and have fun, I’m just an old man, why join the fun? If you go to the horse track tomorrow, have a good time. It’s rare to get a rest day, and it’s during New Year’s too, you must have fun, that’s the proper way.”

The old master certainly didn’t want to follow; the young folks had their way of having fun. If he went along, he might spoil their fun.
