Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Madam Xiao lost her voice in distress, desperately trying to keep him, ”Ah Yuan!” She chased after him, attempting to grab Xia Jinyuan once again.

Having only walked a few steps, Xia Jinyuan seemed to remember something. He stopped and turned to look at Madam Xiao, making her face light up with joy as she caught up, ”Ah Yuan.”

The halted Xia Jinyuan’s lips curled into a slight smile, ”Madam Xiao must think I am heartless, right? Once, Madam Xiao was just as heartless.”

”You shouldn’t have forgotten how I chased after you the day you left. And you, to get rid of me more quickly, even threw stones at me.”

The joy on her face ”whooshed” away, leaving Madam Xiao with a look of terror. Xia Jinyuan found it even more amusing; apparently, Madam Xiao really had forgotten.

No, that’s not right.

She hadn’t forgotten.

She thought he had. Perhaps, she assumed he was too young back then and wouldn’t remember anything, not knowing what happened on the day she left.

Unfortunately, Xia Jinyuan’s memory was too good; he remembered everything from that day clearly. Mention it, and he could recall everything; don’t, and he wouldn’t remember a single scene.

”I also remember Madam Xiao throwing stones at me while screaming for me to ’get lost’, ’as far as possible, and not to be a drag on you. Also, Madam Xiao said you didn’t have a son like me, and I didn’t have a mother like you.”

”What about it? Has Madam Xiao forgotten everything she said that day? She probably hasn’t, from what I can tell by her expression; Madam Xiao hasn’t forgotten.”

Madam Xiao’s face could no longer be described as pale but as ashen as death!

”Ah Ah Ah... Ah Yuan...” She cried, her tears falling like beads off a string, one after another, ”It wasn’t... it wasn’t like that... Ah Yuan, your mother was young then and didn’t know... didn’t know what the consequences of her actions would be.”

”Ah Yuan, your mother was wrong, your mother... was wrong, she truly knows her mistakes now.”

She pleaded with tears ruining her delicate makeup, exposing a frail elderly appearance, ”Your mother was wrong, please, forgive your mother, will you?”

”No good,” Xia Jinyuan shook his head, his gaze coldly on Madam Xiao, ”You had already given up on me. You were young then, and now I am young, so I can’t forgive you. No, it’s not that, I can’t acknowledge you again.”

”In my world, there’s no need for a mother’s presence, so please, Madam Xiao, don’t appear in front of me again as a ’mother’.”

”Also, she is my fiancée, this is my affair, the Xia family’s affair, it has nothing to do with Madam Xiao.” Xia Jinyuan finished all he had to say, no longer looked at the weeping and limp Madam Xiao, and left the private room.

Ye Jian was pulled by Xia Jinyuan out of the restaurant, with Xia Jinyuan’s face remaining tense and his complexion not looking good.

”Captain Xia, leaving like this... will Madam Li keep going after Madam Xiao?” Ye Jian was only worried that after Madam Xiao left, she would talk recklessly with others, like Madam Li.

”Nothing’s wrong with that; I have nothing more to say to her. What’s the point in staying? To listen to her talk about how she’s been trying to dig up information on me recently? To hear her talk of how regretful she is?” Xia Jinyuan gave a faint smile, ”If she wants to find Madam Li, let her.”

”I’m just afraid this will expose you to other people’s gossip.” Ye Jian pursed her lips slightly, ”Madam Xiao is not likely to let this go, and there’s also Madam Li, Captain Xia, this matter, it seems, is not over yet.”
