Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Ye Jian was unexpectedly prompted about engagement, which really frightened her, who was unprepared. Engagement... in her eyes, it wasn’t far from marriage.

Her, her, her... She had just graduated a year ago, and now marriage?

It wasn’t that she was against marriage, but it all felt too soon.

Xia Jinyuan felt it wasn’t soon at all, the old master and Old Madam had especially mentioned it yesterday when he returned, even his family’s Old Xia thought they could get engaged first.

Later, he also thought about it and it seemed possible.

Seeing that he had scared her, Xia Jinyuan directly pulled her into his embrace, not rushing at all, and leisurely said, ”Hmm, there’s no hurry in a day or two, our holiday is still so long, getting engaged in a few days is also possible. As for the future father-in-law, Grandpa Gen said he would think of a way, mainly we have to tell the future father-in-law.”

There was a faint light flickering in his deep eyes, like a cheetah eyeing its prey gradually drawing closer, ”With father-in-law’s blessings over the phone, we might as well get engaged first.”

From watching movies, shopping, to suddenly talking about engagement, Ye Jian felt the jump was too big. No, she needed to slow down, slow down some more.

”Let’s go eat first,” Ye Jian’s face flashed a touch of blush, looking down at her shoes. Perhaps... should they get engaged first?

She would ask Grandpa Gen first when she returned home. If Grandpa had no objections… No, her dad too, she must also ask for her dad’s opinion, yes, and her elder brother’s as well.

Seeing the faint blush on her cheeks, a hint of amusement flashed in Xia Jinyuan’s eyes; his sweetheart didn’t oppose engagement but felt it was somewhat sudden.

Indeed.

He felt it was very sudden last night too and was a little scared, wondering if the old master and Old Madam had some health issues, hence the rush to see him married.

Not wanting to pressure her too much, Xia Jinyuan released his hands from around her shoulders and switched to holding Ye Jian’s hand, clutching it tightly in his palm. ”Okay, we can talk while we eat.”

Having barely escaped his presence, she was now gripped tightly by his hand. Ye Jian felt her palms sweating, ”Why hold so tight? It’s hot.”

”It’s almost New Year and it’s crowded outside. If I don’t hold onto you tightly and someone abducts you, what should I do then? Where would I go to find a wife, or cry?” Xia Jinyuan teased, placing their intertwined hands on his chest, ”I want to keep you in my heart, so you can’t go anywhere.”

Ye Jian: ”...”

This revenge is indeed a dish best served cold—payback for today’s noontime joke in the hospital. Also, please don’t speak so cheesily, it’s making my skin crawl.

Knowing it was intentional, Ye Jian squinted her eyes, suddenly stepping closer to Xia Jinyuan, ”Then Captain Xia better hold on tight. Just in case I really run away, don’t have anywhere to cry.”

Coy and playful, only in front of Xia Jinyuan would the usually composed Ye Jian reveal a slight daughter-like tenderness.

Her daughter-like charm made Xia Jinyuan smile broadly, ”Run? If one day you do run, I’ll definitely find you. You can only be mine, and I can only be yours.”

Very domineering, confident, and filled with deep affection, Ye Jian bit her lip and smiled. Run? She really hadn’t thought about it.

As time neared noon, Xia Jinyuan was ready to take Ye Jian to the next date spot. He drove her to a well-known old brand restaurant in the capital city, where Ye Jian let him lead, following wherever he took her.
