Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

It wasn’t just Ye Jian who had fallen asleep; Xia Jinyuan had also dozed off, only a little later than she did.

He only opened his eyes when he heard a noise and then saw the strange looks being cast their way by the couple next to them. They probably hadn’t seen a movie outing where both the boyfriend and girlfriend ended up sleeping!

”Is it over? What was the movie about?” Ye Jian hadn’t expected to fall asleep so unguardedly in such a public place, and found it quite incredible to think about, ”Maybe we shouldn’t come to watch anymore. I’m worried I’ll sleep through the whole thing again.”

”The movie ended, and the male and female leads ended up together.” Xia Jinyuan had been uncomfortable moving with Ye Jian leaning on him, and he himself had fallen asleep without seeing the end of the film. Although he hadn’t seen it through, he could guess the general direction of the story.

The relationship between the two characters ended up being one-sided, and they hadn’t gone through any great trials together, so their love seemed a bit far-fetched. But in the end, it was just a movie.

”So, what are our plans next?” Ye Jian was more interested in what was to come. She felt refreshed after her nap!

”How about dinner and shopping? Let’s pretend we’re just average folks today, shall we?” Xia Jinyuan once again guiltily touched his nose. Later today, he would need to do some research to figure out how they should spend the upcoming days.

”Sure.” Ye Jian agreed without hesitation. She didn’t care about the details, just that she was spending the time with Xia Jinyuan.

”I’ll study it carefully.” Xia Jinyuan still felt their limited vacation dates should be somewhat special—not so casually spent.

”I’ll leave it all to the leader’s arrangement.” Ye Jian said playfully, yet it was rare to see him looking so troubled.

Being in the military for so long, regular civilian life seemed far removed from them. They were clueless about what interesting things might happen on a civilian date; they were just not skilled at this sort of thing.

”Speaking of dinner, I heard there’s a nice place we can try. If it’s good, we could bring the grandparents along next time.” Xia Jinyuan suggested.

”Grandparents?” Ye Jian’s heart suddenly started to beat faster, ”Are they coming over later?”

Xia Jinyuan really didn’t know what to do with his girlfriend, and after giving her a couple of firm kisses, he let it go, ”Would I let grandparents intrude on our date?”

Ye Jian, who had just been startled, patted her chest in relief. Thank goodness, thank goodness. Otherwise, she wouldn’t know how to handle being led around and kissed by Captain Xia in front of them.

Ye Jian knew it was something that should be expected, but the thought of holding hands or kissing Xia Jinyuan in front of the elderly made her a bit embarrassed.

”You suddenly mentioning grandparents just scared me.” Ye Jian’s heart was still racing a bit.

However, Xia Jinyuan suddenly said, ”But grandpa and grandma did say, since we have a long vacation this time, why not get engaged? Once we’re engaged, I think you won’t be so shy anymore.”

Why the sudden scare? Xia Jinyuan could tell at a glance!

In front of the elderly, his Little Fox was always on her best behavior.

Ye Jian, finally calming down, was genuinely startled and began coughing, ”Engaged? So soon... My father... my father isn’t back yet.”
