Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

As Spring Festival approached, the cinema was quite crowded, with the theater full to bursting. Ye Jian and Xia Jinyuan made their way to their seats at the back. There were couples all around, affectionately feeding each other cola and popcorn, while the two of them sat upright in their seats, hands clasped together.

Xia Jinyuan stole a glance around and thought he might try doing the same.

Tsk tsk, one of the classic date settings indeed has its reasons! Holding hands, kissing, hugging—it’s all so normal.

He would give it a try later!

Deep down, Lieutenant Colonel Xia was raring to go.

The movie started soon after, and it was a true-to-name romance film. There were many scenes where the male and female leads kissed and embraced. Whenever such scenes played, the couple sitting to their right would involuntarily start embracing and kissing as well, and not too quietly either, making Ye Jian feel quite embarrassed.

Ye Jian’s eyes didn’t know where to look, so she could only turn helplessly towards Xia Jinyuan. Sitting beside Xia Jinyuan was a couple that seemed to be only sixteen or seventeen, and before long, they too were kissing passionately as if no one else was around, leaving Ye Jian even more at a loss.

So young yet their actions were anything but!

Xia Jinyuan who was feeling antsy squeezed Ye Jian’s hand, a familiar mischievous smile curling at his lips, ”Feeling envious? Should we have one too?”

”There are so many people here,” Ye Jian refused, kissing like this, cough cough... she felt like she should still be in kindergarten!

”No one will notice us,” Xia Jinyuan gestured to the clingy couples around them, as sitting upright and watching the movie like this, they really were the odd ones out in the theater. He leaned in slightly, and his lips grazed Ye Jian’s earlobe, his breath warm against her skin, ”Classic date spots definitely have their charms.”

Images of the two of them kissing flashed through Ye Jian’s mind, and with so many spectators, the mere thought made her face feel feverish and flushed.

She she she... she was still a kindergarten kid!

Xia Jinyuan was bold and eager to learn, not giving Ye Jian a chance to escape, he suddenly cupped her face and planted a quick kiss on her forehead. After the kiss, he said, ”How’s that? Pretty normal, right? Doesn’t feel weird, does it?”

”It’s... it’s okay,” Ye Jian touched her kissed forehead, smiling sweetly. It seemed... okay, but... she still needed some time to adjust, ”Let me take a moment, a moment to get used to it.”

Xia Jinyuan was amused by her words. Take a moment to get used to it? He had to hand it to her for coming up with that.

Finally, he guided Ye Jian’s head to rest on his shoulder. She quickly glanced around to make sure there weren’t any problems, and then boldly leaned on Xia Jinyuan’s shoulder. Their clasped hands became tightly intertwined.

With the warmth of the cinema’s heating and resting against Xia Jinyuan’s shoulder, Ye Jian eventually fell asleep, only to be woken by Xia Jinyuan when the movie ended.

”Time to get up, the movie’s over,” Xia Jinyuan patted Ye Jian’s shoulder.

Ye Jian stretched lazily as she awoke from her sleep, looking just like a girl of their age should, sleepy from watching a movie.
