Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

At the mention of the past, the old madam still had a knot in her heart.

”Then you can forget about it now. Our granddaughter-in-law just called to wish us a happy new year!” The old master smiled again. His voice wasn’t as cold as before. ”I think it’ll only be three years at most. We might be able to carry Little Six’s child by then.”

The old madam said, ”That depends on whether Little Ye agrees or not. If Little Ye doesn’t agree, I’ll support her all the same. She’s not worse than Little Six. We can’t let her ruin her future just because of a pregnancy.”

”That won’t happen. Little Six has his own opinions, and he can’t bear to delay Little Ye. You can just wait to carry Little Six and Little Ye’s son. Or a daughter. Xiao Bao is the only great-granddaughter in the family right now.”

”Do you think you have any control over this? Hurry up and sleep. Tomorrow, your old subordinates will come and look for you early in the morning.” Old Madam Xia also wanted to have more baby girls in the family too. The Xia family mainly consisted of men. For generations, there had only been one girl in each generation. It was better to have more girls.

The old madam and old master were getting old, so they didn’t sleep well. Even though they slept early at night, they would wake up a few times in the middle. And no matter how late they slept, they would wake up at five in the morning.

As people got older, they would have bad sleep.

In the early morning of the first day of the new year, some people had just fallen asleep while some were still partying. And some were wearing military attire and carrying steel guns. They faced the strong cold wind to protect the thousands of reunion lights behind them.

Ye Jian personally carried the backpack for Xia Jinyuan and buckled its belt. Then, she passed the steel gun to the young soldier who was preparing to leave. ”Be careful!”

”Wait for me to return to the camp.” Xia Jinyuan carried his backpack. There were still five minutes left. He held the gun with one hand and hugged Ye Jian’s shoulder with the other. ”Rest early.”

After he finished speaking, he let go of his arm and smiled at the woman who would be waiting for him to return to the camp. He turned around, opened the door, and left without looking back.

Ye Jian sent him off and waited for his return.

From the first to the third day of the new year, Ye Jian led the female soldiers to stand guard. On the fourth day of the new year, Ye Jian led the female soldiers for normal training until the eighth day of the new year.

In the morning on the ninth day of the new year, Ye Jian was woken up by a knock on the door. She sat up from the bed immediately and quickly turned on the lights.

”Little Ye, gather urgently! Three minutes!” It was the company commander’s voice.

At 3:50 am, Ye Jian left the camp with Company Commander Zhu and 20 male soldiers. They got into a truck with anti-slip chains on the wheels and headed somewhere.

”You can sleep for a while more. It’s just that the ride will be a little bumpy.” The company commander smiled at Ye Jian, who was sitting beside him. ”It’s like the cradle you slept in when you were young. It can sway you to sleep.”

Ye Jian, who was nearly suspended in the air, smiled and replied, ”No baby can withstand a cradle that can break bones.”

”Hahaha, it was just an analogy.” The company commander laughed loudly. ”You were asked to help during the last-minute mission. It’ll take some time to arrive. Time will go faster if you sleep.”

Ye Jian thought for a moment before asking, ”What mission is it?”

”It’s an experiment. We need troops to guard it. The time is six days. The experiment will start in three days. We’ll clear the surroundings and set up sentry posts.”

There were many places in the base. Once there was any experiment that needed to be completed, it would definitely be a huge experiment. Moreover, it would be directly related to military power.

Ye Jian’s facial expressions turned serious when she heard that it was such a heavy responsibility.

Before she set off, she thought that there was some movement that needed to be dealt with. She didn’t expect the mission to be to ensure safety while an experiment was being carried out.
