The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 834: Chapter 834: Not Asking to Sacrifice Life and Forget Death, But to Give It Your All

Carson Flores was stunned.

They wanted him to be the team leader?

”Have you all gone mad? I’m just at the Golden Core Realm, and all of you are in the Divinity Transformation Stage, with the least advanced among you being at the Nascent Soul Great Perfection. You want me, a Golden Core cultivator, to be your team leader...”

Kash Lam draped an arm over Carson Flores’s shoulder and chuckled, ”The key point is, none of us can agree on a leader; whoever tries to take charge, the others just won’t accept it.”

Carson blinked and suddenly understood, his expression turning odd as he asked, ”So you’ve decided to choose the weakest among us as the leader because, being the weakest, nobody has the heart to offend or harbor any ill intentions against them, and as a result, they can be the most objective and fair?”

Kash Lam snapped his fingers, ”That’s almost the gist of it, but you see, you’re not as weak as you claim to be. You might be a little behind us, but with your Sword Bone, you can easily thrash someone at the Mid-Nascent Soul stage...”

Carson’s gaze swept over everyone, ”Is this what you all think?”

Kenzo Conley from the Taiyi Sect smiled and said, ”Right, with anyone of us in the lead, no one else would be convinced, as our respective Sects have too much at stake. But you, you have the cleanest, simplest background. We have seen the kind of person you are, and that’s why we all agree that you should take on the team leader role.”

Carson gave a wry smile, ”Yes, if I mess up, you all can easily take me down as the team leader.”

Lainey Dragon smiled softly, ”We believe you’ll be fair and just as a team leader. As long as you maintain that, we’ll all support you. As for taking you down, that’s not going to happen. Even if you mess up, at the most, we just won’t follow your orders anymore; we won’t actually hurt you.”

Carson thought it over and didn’t reject the offer.

The True Dragon Secret Realm was perilously dangerous. One could only survive by sticking together, and Carson wasn’t arrogant enough to believe he could traverse it alone relying on luck. If there was a chance to form a team, then all the better.

Originally it was Bryant James who was to be the team leader, and Carson certainly wouldn’t have joined his squad, perhaps forming his own instead. But now, with the sudden change in circumstances, everyone was willing to let him lead, which was very beneficial for him.

Carson had been a soldier for five years, participating in many military operations, so the tasks of a team leader, such as assigning missions and directing combat, were not unknown to him.

Understanding the abilities of the team members, putting them in the most suitable positions, and making accurate assessments of danger and right judgments, those were the duties of a team leader.

”I would of course like to group up with everyone. If you all trust me, I’m definitely okay with that. I can’t boast about my abilities, but at least, I can assure you of fairness and justice. After all, if I’m not fair and just, you indeed have the means to beat me up,” he said.

With those words, Carson immediately got everyone laughing.

Kash Lam quipped, ”Since you’ve also agreed, then it’s settled. From now on, you’re the captain of our Misrds State squad.”

Everyone expressed their agreement.

Carson’s smile faded, and his expression turned serious, ”When I was in the Mortal Realm, I served as a soldier and led several military operations. I’ve even been a team leader for action squads. If I’m going to lead this squad, I’ll manage it in the way of a military force on campaign. When I assign combat tasks, please don’t hesitate or doubt me. I bear no grudges or vested interests against any of you and will not deliberately target or harm anyone. If a task is assigned to you, it’s because I believe you’re the most suitable for it.”

”I don’t expect everyone to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the squad, as after all, we are only cooperating with each other, and no one is willing to sacrifice themselves for others. I only ask that when we are in action, everyone gives it their all. If problems still can’t be solved, then we’ll face them together.”

Kash Lam laughed and said, ”Nothing wrong with that, supported!”

Kenzo Conley affirmed, ”It’s precisely for the reasons you mentioned that we’re willing to trust you as the leader. Plus, with your past experience as a military operations leader, that’s even better. It just goes to show our choice isn’t wrong.”

Terry from the Demon Sun Sect nodded, ”Since we’ve agreed to have you as the leader, we’ll naturally follow your commands. If anyone just wants to hide and not put in any effort, just wanting to freeload, then they have no place in our squad. Our squad is made up solely of elites, no rubbish allowed.”

Everyone expressed their stance, acknowledging Carson Flores’s management philosophy.

Carson said with a smile, ”Okay, let’s leave it at that for now. Please arrive at the Secret Realm’s entrance half a month before the exploration next year so we can get familiar with one another and mesh as a team.”

”Exploring the Secret Realm is certainly for the purpose of gain, but my goal isn’t to obtain a certain amount of treasures; rather, I hope everyone can enter safely and leave safely.”

Kash Lam grinned, ”Alright, half a month it is, I’ll be there on time.”

Lainey Dragon asked curiously, ”There’s still some time before the True Dragon Secret Realm opens, what are your plans?”

Carson answered frankly, ”Didn’t I make a good sum from selling the Spiritual Spring? I’ve already bought the remaining materials needed for the Sword Bone. For the next few months, I will complete the Refinement of the full-body Sword Bone, then see if I can break through to Nascent Soul. Although my role as team leader may be a bit of a drag, I can’t afford to lag too far behind, right?”
