The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 831: Chapter 831: I’m the Demon Emperor, My Son the Human Emperor?

”Fusion?”

Carson’s heart tightened, ”Does that mean consumption? Afterward, will he still be himself?”

Benson shook his head, ”It’s hard to say. Fusion is not exactly consumption. It’s actually the merging of two sets of memories, two personalities, into one. The past isn’t forgotten; everything remains. But as for what the final fused personality will be, whether one will dominate or if a completely new personality will emerge, that’s something we just can’t know.”

Carson frowned, ”The Heart of the Demon Emperor is so powerful, I’m afraid my dad won’t be able to withstand it.”

Benson shook his head again, ”That’s not necessarily the case. No matter how strong the Demon Emperor’s Will might be, it’s still just that—a will. Your dad’s body, his soul, they are a perfect closed loop. As long as your dad remains determined, even the Demon Emperor’s Will might not overcome him.”

After some thought, Carson finally relaxed his brows, ”Regardless, it’s good that he’s still alive. As long as he hasn’t completely lost his memories, hasn’t been spiritually annihilated, let the fusion be. Actually, this opportunity might be something others can’t even hope for, right, senior brother?”

Seeing that Carson had come to terms with it, Benson’s face also showed a smile, ”Yes, no matter what, being alive is the best news.”

While the two were talking, Adelaide, clad in black, flew over from a distance. Carson hurriedly called out to her.

Seeing Carson, Adelaide’s eyes lit with surprise, and she flew over, ”Are you alright?”

Carson nodded, ”I’m fine. He just took me out to confirm my identity and then we had a chat.”

Adelaide’s eyes held a hint of melancholy, ”And him?”

Witnessing that look of disappointment in Adelaide’s eyes, Carson felt somewhat reluctant to cause her pain and softly said, ”He’s now merged with the Heart of the Demon Emperor and has become the Demon Emperor Heir. Within him are two wills, one his own and the other the Demon Emperor’s. To fend off the Demon Emperor’s Will, he spoke to me using his own, even drawing a dagger and threatening mutual destruction by thrusting it into his own heart.”

”I spoke of mother, Aunt Lucy, and my own situation. He instructed me to tell Aunt Lucy to take good care of herself and that a day will come for a reunion. He also asked me to look after mother.”

Adelaide’s eyes suddenly brightened, somewhat hesitant, but eventually she couldn’t hold back, ”Did he really say that?”

Carson confirmed, ”He did, but there wasn’t much time. He didn’t say where he was going or what he would do, so I have no idea where to look for him if we want to find him.”

A light shone in Adelaide’s eyes, ”As long as he’s alive, that’s the best news!”

Carson had naturally lied, but seeing the sudden brightness in Adelaide’s eyes, he smiled inwardly.

Even if a lie, it should be a white lie.

Even if his father knew about it, he wouldn’t blame his son, and his mother, he believed, wouldn’t mind either.

”Yes, the fact that he’s still alive is the best news. Senior brother said that even though he has two wills within him, the likelihood of him being completely consumed and vanishing is very low. It’s more probable that he’ll merge with the Demon Emperor’s Will. Regardless, he won’t forget us; we will see each other again.”

Us?

Adelaide glanced at Carson, her gaze slightly awkward, coupled with genuine gratitude.

The relationship between Adelaide and Westin, Carson’s parents, was quite delicate. Adelaide’s affection for Carson was well-known and unforced; she hadn’t used any machinations. Instead, she had selflessly helped them, saved their lives, and negotiated for Lucy’s right to stay by serving as a guard in the North Cold City for twenty years.

Adelaide’s sacrifices moved Lucy, Westin’s wife, so deeply that she even considered quietly leaving to make room for Adelaide and Westin, as a way to repay her generosity.

As the son of Westin, Carson held no aversion to the ”other woman.” Instead, he proactively sought her out, addressing her as Aunt Adelaide, and even gave her the hard-to-come-by Lotus Seed to repay their debt of gratitude. This showed Carson’s sincere respect for her, warming her heart.

Benson spoke up, ”He should have gone back to Easty Prefecture. That’s the Demon Race’s territory, and where the Demon Emperor established the Demon Nation long ago. Although humans have since reclaimed much of their land over these ten thousand years since the Demon Emperor’s death, Easty Prefecture and Easty Prefecture have remained under the rule of the Demon Race.”

Curious, Carson asked, ”Does that mean he’s planning to rebuild the Demon Nation and lead the Demon Race in another world sweep?”

Benson’s expression grew solemn, ”It’s very possible. With the emergence of the Demon Emperor Heir, the world is sure to face tumult once again. If your father truly inherits all of the Demon Emperor’s power, he would certainly become an earth-shattering presence. Then, who knows who would be able to withstand him.”

Carson felt bewildered.

My dad became the Demon Emperor Heir, the next Demon Emperor?

He gave me the Emperor Sovereign Scripture, and I still hold the Emperor Seal that represents the Human Emperor. If I practice the Emperor Sovereign Scripture, and one day I can wield the Emperor Seal, does that mean I would be the next Human Emperor?

Father as Demon Emperor, son as Human Emperor?

This joke’s gone too far, hasn’t it?
