The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 816: Chapter 816: Is There Anyone Who Volunteers to Be the Captain?

Bryant James had come here this time to unify the young generation of Misrds State and form a new group with himself as the leader, becoming the undisputed top youth in Misrds State.

In the battle against Kash Lam, Bryant James showcased his strength, and coupled with his previous grand demeanor, he had virtually secured the top position.

However, he did not expect Tobias Singleton to be here too, nor did he anticipate that Nutwood’s eldest senior, Benson Bernard, would also arrive.

Tobias Singleton had turned traitor, and even the Supreme Elder couldn’t protect him. Having lost an arm and suffered severe internal injuries, his combat power had plummeted. More importantly, his image had been completely destroyed by this battle.

This was a loss that could never be rectified.

No one would inwardly accept a sneaky and small-minded person as a leader.

Carson Flores hadn’t even offended him much, yet he had secretly arranged for someone to ambush him. If one were to actually cross him, what chance of survival would there be?

Who wouldn’t be afraid of dealing with such a person?

The expressions of the chosen ones on the high platform changed subtly, as the atmosphere had mysteriously shifted.

Kenzo Conley from the Tai Sect coldly said, ”I said before that he was putting on too much of an act, it seems I even understated it.”

Ty Baker from Lingxu added fuel to the fire, kicking someone when they’re down, ”I really didn’t see that he was such a person. If he had personally beaten up Carson Flores, I would have actually respected him a bit. Smiling to your face while stabbing you in the back, I can’t afford such friends. It’s better to stay away. Teaming up with him, I’m afraid I wouldn’t even know how I’d die.”

Lainey Dragon looked on with complex eyes, ”However, what he said before about the need to team up to explore the True Dragon Secret Realm is indeed necessary. Going in alone is indeed very dangerous...”

Kash Lam spat on the ground and snorted, ”I really misjudged him... This isn’t tricky, we can just re-form the team, it’s not like we can’t manage without him.”

Terry from the Demon Sun Sect mocked, ”You sure changed your tune quickly, weren’t you just saying you wanted to stick with him?”

Kash Lam’s face reddened and he retorted angrily, ”I fought, and I didn’t win, I accept my loss. How was I to know before that he was such a despicable person? Stop laughing, you were too scared to confront him just now, and now you mock me, you’re asking for it.”

Kenzo Conley frowned and said, ”Stop arguing. It’s everyone’s freedom to choose, there’s no need to slander anyone.”

Holden Simmons from the Junshan Sect laughed, ”It seems like no one wants to play with Bryant James anymore, huh?”

”Play my ass!”

”Who would want to deal with such a person can go ahead on their own, I dare not. I’m afraid I wouldn’t even know how I die if something good comes up,” said a member from the Jiuyou Sect with a cold and gloomy voice.

Lainey Dragon asked, ”So what do we do now?”

The crowd looked at each other. While they were all criticizing Bryant James, they knew that making alliances was indeed necessary; otherwise, regardless of the rewards, people could easily die inside.

Lainey Dragon continued, ”We definitely have to form a team. Does anyone volunteer to be the leader?”

Many were eager, but unexpectedly, no one really spoke up.

These individuals were all prodigies, each incredibly strong. Aside from Bryant James, who suddenly emerged with the Innate Taoist Body, the others were likely evenly matched; none dared claim to be significantly stronger, and their differences were trivial.

Bryant James’ strength was overwhelming, his leadership, at least in terms of strength, was compelling, but if anyone else in attendance tried to be the leader, no one would accept it.

Our strengths are roughly the same, why should I listen to you?

Kash Lam grinned, ”How about, I be the leader?”

Lainey Dragon spat, ”You? A brainless fool wanting to be the leader, do you want to lead us all to death?”

Kash Lam wasn’t offended and chuckled, ”No one here can dominate the others with their strength, and no one will accept someone else as the leader. In my opinion, since we can’t pick the strongest and are worried about others’ bias, why not choose someone who is weaker but acts fairly as the leader? That way, no one has to worry about being unfairly targeted, we all just need to support fairness, and no one has to be suspicious of anyone...”

Everyone paused, their expressions suddenly becoming quite peculiar.

Right, no one could suppress anyone else here, and if anyone were the leader, there would always be dissatisfaction. So, choosing someone weaker as leader who needs not excel in combat but must be wise and fair could prevent mistrust, and a leader of lesser strength would naturally act more fairly. Otherwise, provoking someone could have serious consequences.

Lainey Dragon blinked, ”That could actually work.”

Kenzo Conley smiled, ”I can agree with that, but that person needs to be fair and wise. Otherwise, I won’t accept it.”

Ty Baker laughed, ”I agree too. The leader’s combat power is secondary; fairness and impartiality are what matter most. But who fits the bill?”

The crowd exchanged glances; almost instinctively, their eyes landed on Carson Flores, who was in the air.
