Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 607: Chapter 581: Targeted and Awkward

”Sorry, I speak bluntly, don’t get mad, ladies~” Yu Liumei apologized to the store clerk, realizing she had been so caught up in complaining that she’d forgotten she was standing on their turf.

”Liumei, give the phone to the salesperson!” Yu Minglang urged.

”Okay, hang on.” Yu Liumei thought to herself that her loose tongue had caused trouble; should her cousin also have to apologize?

”Is Liu Shasha one of your store employees?” Yu Minglang asked.

”She’s not from our counter; she works at the stall selling dolls next door. She hasn’t come to work in over ten days, and we can’t contact her. Her factory boss is furious. Who are you to her?” the clerk asked.

”Have towels been missing from your store recently?” Yu Minglang continued to ask.

”Don’t even mention it! More than ten towels have gone missing, and the store manager nearly lost it during inventory. If we don’t find out who did it, a few of us will have to pay for it together – how do you even know about this?”

”I may be able to find a way to prevent you from paying, but you’ll need to cooperate with my questions.”

”Please, go ahead!” The clerk had been worried sick for days because of the inventory mismatch and perked up upon hearing that they might not have to pay.

”I want to know, does your brand have only this one store?”

”There’s only one in the province, but there are a few more in the country. Sales are better in big cities than here.”

”Does Liu Shasha have friends or family working as security guards in your mall, especially night guards?”

”Her dad seems to be working night shifts in our mall. At night, our mall has a few older guards taking turns on duty.”

”When did your towels go missing?”

”It was more than ten days ago. We had just finished inventory a couple of days before, all numbers matched perfectly, and then suddenly, so many towels were gone. It’s maddening.”

The time the clerk mentioned matched up exactly with when Liu Shasha was murdered, which confirmed Yu Minglang’s suspicions.

The clerk noticed Yu Minglang had hung up the phone and asked Yu Liumei puzzledly.

”Who is this guy? How does he know about the missing towels?”

Yu Liumei blinked. Although she didn’t know why her cousin asked such questions, she knew his identity was special, and she had to be careful not to say anything that might cause trouble for her family.

”I don’t know~ Your skin is really nice, do you like braised pork?” She awkwardly changed the topic, and her candid nature got her kicked out.

She rubbed her nose, but getting kicked out was no big deal as long as she didn’t cause trouble or leak secrets for her cousin.

Yu Minglang hung up the phone, and Lin Ze Guang emerged with dark circles under his eyes from all-night investigations.

”Old classmate, we figured out the matter you wanted us to investigate. Victim Liu Shasha was delivering food to her dad, who works at the mall. Her dad’s job is to watch the place, nothing suspicious here. This clue is a dead end.”

”No, the clue isn’t dead; we’ve found a crucial lead. Immediately send someone to the famous farmhouse at Jiao Mountain Scenic Area to bring the son of that family, Wang Mingming, in for questioning.”

Lin Ze Guang’s mouth formed an O-shape, ”Why?”

Relying on unrelated clues to confirm a target for investigation? That’s incredible!

”Because Liu Shasha’s reason for going to the mall at night wasn’t just to deliver food to her dad. She got stolen goods from him, and the goods were imported towels sold only at the exclusive counter in Lishi! My fiancée and I once bought those towels at a farmhouse at a very low price while on vacation. Get Wang Mingming back here; even if he’s not a suspect, he must have been at the crime scene!”

Towels went missing on the day the victim was killed, and during the time the victim was discovered, towels had disappeared; Wang Mingming having so many towels was suspicious!

Yu Minglang gathered his team to bring Wang Mingming back for investigation.

In Yu Minglang’s mind, Wang Mingming’s cowardly low self-esteem shouldn’t match the suspect in a face-slicing incident, but he was somewhat involved in the case, so he decided to take a chance and bring him in.

Meanwhile, Qian reached the agreed location and was genuinely surprised when she met the client introduced by Shui Xian.

Earlier, Shui Xian introduced Qian to a patient with borderline personality disorder, and Qian hadn’t decided whether to take the case because Yu Minglang was handling it.

Now that Yu Minglang wasn’t around, she had the time, and since Shui Xian called her about it again, Qian decided to meet the patient and set pricing and treatment plans based on the situation.

The meeting place was in the café under the mall, and Shui Xian said the person would be wearing a black suit and have a Zhi Yin magazine on the table.

Qian was wearing a red blouse and black chiffon wide-leg pants, and both sides identified each other by attire.

There was only one man in a suit in the café; he looked quite young and had the air of a rich second generation. What surprised Qian was the woman in a white dress sitting beside him, with a book on their table.

”Baby, this time I’ll make sure you’re fine; rest assured, it won’t happen again.” The man in the black suit was comforting his female companion.

”Can it really be cured?”

”Yes, my family says this doctor is young, but she’s cured many people, so my problem isn’t a mental illness, just a minor psychological issue, baby, don’t leave me!”

The two were chatting away and suddenly felt someone pick up the magazine they used as a signal. They looked up and were stunned.

”Meiwei?”

”Ye Xiaoyu?”

Ye Xiaoyu was the high school classmate who secretly loved Yu Minglang, who played basketball with Minglang, and was the radio host whom Qian had long seen through.

The two didn’t get along; on one hand, there was work competition, and on the other, both liked Yu Xiaoqiang.

But what Qian didn’t expect was that Ye Xiaoyu turned out to be the girlfriend of Li Jia, the patient introduced by Shui Xian, and the woman was dating a boyfriend with borderline personality disorder while eyeing Qian’s man.

To Qian, this behavior was like playing with fire, bound to burn oneself eventually.

”Are you Li Jia?” Qian asked the man.

Qian’s gaze inspected both the man and Ye Xiaoyu: a woman with a makeup obsession and a man with borderline personality disorder, a relationship that could prove deadly.

This borderline disorder is notoriously difficult to treat, known as a psychological therapist’s nightmare; most doctors are reluctant to take on such challenging cases.

”I don’t know what you’re talking about; my friend isn’t sick, we have to go!” Ye Xiaoyu’s face changed color.

She hadn’t anticipated that Li Jia’s therapist would be her least favorite, Meiwei!

What an awkward situation!
