Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 598: Chapter 572: The Fool and the Warm Heart

Qian knew that no one was perfect, and that there couldn’t possibly be a perfect person in this world.

Just like that auntie earlier, even though she was a bit petty and narrow-minded, she was also genuine, using all her wits to sell her jars of pickles while earnestly persuading her to reconcile with Yu Minglang.

This can represent a part of people’s personality; while they may focus on small profits, they are also kind at heart. Qian understood the purpose of the teacher having Yu Minglang bring her here.

It was to show her this family’s life, a family that had gone through almost every hardship one could imagine, yet they were still living.

The way to overcome fear is to see that what you fear isn’t as terrifying as imagined.

But this time, the teacher miscalculated.

Even someone like Mr. Liu, with his authority, couldn’t see through the two lifetimes of memories Qian carried, as her fear of marriage wasn’t rooted in the unknown future or in chasing perfection.

She could tolerate Yu Xiaoqiang’s occasional silliness, but what truly terrified someone at Qian’s level was the experience with her lost-and-found little angel.

It was something she both longed for and feared.

Qian stood up, intending to find a place to wash her hands, when upon opening the door, there was Yu Minglang holding a basin with a towel on his shoulder, looking at her eagerly like a Husky.

Don’t abandon me!

Qian and he stared at each other in silence for several seconds.

How does this guy know when my OCD is acting up?

”I told you to vent your frustration on me when you’re upset; don’t bottle it up inside, see, now it’s acting up again? Luckily I anticipated this, I mixed some hot water in, so it’s not too cold, wash up.”

Qian reached out, but instead of putting her hand in the basin, she suddenly overturned it onto his head.

Splash~

Drenched Xiaoqiang!

The water poured down thoroughly, utterly soaking him.

”Are you stupid? Can’t you dodge?”

”I’d be stupid if I dodged! I already upset you with my mistakes, and if I suddenly smartened up when you’re venting your anger, wouldn’t that make you even angrier?”

He spoke with conviction.

Secretly, he praised himself a thousand times over in his mind, well done!

If the psychological expert’s treatment plan didn’t work, he’d figure it out himself. Curing the illness wasn’t as important; avoiding more anger was the victory!

As expected, Qian found his reasoning both amusing and exasperating, waving him off.

”Why are you just standing there? Go inside and change!”

”I’ll mop the floor first.”

Qian pulled him inside with a shove, went to get a mop from the auntie herself.

Yu Minglang touched his kicked butt, smiling with happiness.

Finally did something right—if Mei kicked him, it meant there was room for discussion, better than ignoring him altogether. Getting beaten was better than the silent treatment.

He quickly took off his clothes, soaked completely—even Qiang’s fur was wet. Mei’s move was too ruthless.

As he prepared to use the clothes to wipe himself, Qian brought a new towel over.

”Use this to wipe! Hurry up, wash your wet clothes yourself, no one’s going to serve you!”

”Okay!”

Yu Minglang gave her a flattering smile, and Qian glared at him before turning away.

He cleaned himself up as quickly as possible, went out to help her with the mopping, then washed his clothes. After wringing them dry, he entered the room again, only to find it closed by Mei. He tried pushing the door—it was shut but not bolted.

Qian was sitting cross-legged, practicing yoga with her eyes closed, ignoring him completely. Yu Minglang laid his clothes on the kang, speaking cautiously.

”Mei, I want to hang my clothes here on the kang; they won’t dry outside overnight. I didn’t mean to bother you by coming in...”

Seeing Qian not responding, he dared to sit down, quietly watching her practice yoga.

Qian knew he was trying to help her with her issues, so her anger had diminished, but she still didn’t want to forgive this fool easily. Half-opening her eyes, she waited to see what other tricks he had up his sleeve.

At first, Yu Minglang sat there obediently, then took off his shoes and sat cross-legged beside her, mimicking her pose with his fingers on his knees forming a gesture of unity.

With his height, doing yoga looked especially funny. Qian gave him the middle finger in her mind, shifted to a pose challenging for flexibility, one that involved bowing into a bridge shape, bending her body into a half-circle—something impossible for Yu Minglang with his rigid frame.

After finishing, Qian gave him a dismissive look, daring him to mimic that move.

Such swagger!

Yu Minglang was cowed.

Scanning the room, he spotted the towel he’d used earlier and got an idea, fashioning it on his head like someone sneaking through a minefield. Finally, Qian was amused.

Seeing her laugh, Yu Minglang felt relieved. At last, he managed to interrupt her OCD again. He had discovered that when Qian was upset, he needed to divert her attention to avoid focusing on the sorrow.

”Aren’t you embarrassed? A proper major acting so silly all the time!” She reached up to untie the towel, gently tapping him.

”Admitting my mistakes to my own wife isn’t embarrassing. It’s fine as long as I’m not silly outside. Qian, are you still mad?”

”How could I not be? You lied to me today, even scared me! Do you know that snake thing really frightened me—Xiaoqiang, why did you do that?” she asked cautiously.

Feeling a bit hopeful, yet anxious inside.

”I was out of my mind, just thinking about marrying my bride. I made an unforgivable mistake, I’m not human; I did something to upset my future wife. In short, it’s all my fault. Mei, punish me however you wish. If you need to vent your anger, you can even whack me with a brick!”

If Qian could forgive him now, he’d be willing to endure any hardship.

He stubbornly blamed himself, admitting it was his selfish desire for marriage, his unscrupulous methods, but never mentioning her premarital fears.

Everything had nothing to do with her. This was how he protected her, how he cared, how he loved.

”If I decide not to marry you because of this, what will you do?”

”I’ll wait! I’ll bear the consequences of my own mistakes. If you don’t marry me for a year, I’ll wait a year. If you don’t marry me for ten years, I’ll wait ten years. If you never marry me, even after we’re gone, I’ll have us buried together, and the tombstone will say you’re my wife.”

Qian’s eyes turned red.

Furious yet pained, she raised her hand wanting to hit him but seeing his lack of reaction, couldn’t bring herself to do it, instead pinching him lightly, ”Are you an idiot?”

Never saw someone so willing to take responsibility, doing foolish yet heartwarming things just to ease her mental burden, making her unable to remain angry or scold him, leaving her torn with no solution—a big troublemaker!
