Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 596: Chapter 570: Get Out and Confusion

”My name is Zhiming. My dad named me that hoping our family shop would prosper like me. But I didn’t pass the college entrance exam last year, so I had to come back to help run the shop. Our business isn’t good; in almost two months, you two are the only ones willing to stay over.”

A well-named farmhouse, with tranquil surroundings, where you can sit and listen to frogs and watch the stars. Qian looked at Yu Minglang’s guilty face. What she wanted most now was to punch him into a star, so his eyes would be full of twinkle, twinkle, little stars!

The warm picture in Yu Minglang’s mind, of sitting in the quiet courtyard of the mountains with Qian, holding her small hand, shattered.

After eating the carefully prepared farmhouse dishes made by the boss, Qian went back to the guest room. Yu Minglang beckoned her with his finger, and he happily followed, thinking Qian had forgiven him.

The door closed, and only the noise of thudding sounds came from inside. It’s a good thing Yu Minglang had tough skin, able to withstand a beating. Any other man would be crying out for mercy or getting angry by now.

He didn’t dodge, just stood upright, waiting for Qian’s storm of fury with kicks and punches. After she was tired and sat on the bed fuming, he quietly helped organize her luggage.

With everything tidied up, the bed made, he used a towel soaked in well water to wipe her face. Knowing he was at fault, he could only act apologetically through action.

Qian just watched with cold eyes. Once he finished and looked eagerly at her, Qian pointed to the door.

Yu Minglang immediately followed orders. If Qian wants me to leave, I’ll leave!

After he left the room, Qian slammed the door shut with no hesitation.

He stood silently at the doorway looking at the closed door. Within three seconds, it opened, and the tent’s luggage was thrown out along with her cold words.

”Find a car down the mountain at dawn. Play tricks again, and you can disappear forever.”

It seemed he would really have to set up a tent in the courtyard tonight. Yu Minglang wasn’t afraid of hardship, but looking at the closed door and the thrown-out luggage, he helplessly thought that Mr. Liu’s meticulously arranged scenario for expressing pre-marital anxiety and relieving emotions was botched by him.

”Qian.” He knocked on the door.

Inside was silent, clearly ignoring him.

”I won’t defend myself. I know I went too far this time. I shouldn’t have lied to you.”

Still silence inside. Yu Minglang knew her anger hadn’t subsided.

Qian wasn’t someone who got easily angry, but when she did, she was hard to soothe, and she hated being lied to the most.

If earlier detours only made her slightly angry, deceiving her with the snake, making her so worried, wasn’t something a few words could explain.

Especially when it involved not just any woman, but one with pre-marital anxiety and uncertainty about marriage, his actions could have ended in a breakup if it were someone less forgiving.

Yu Minglang really wanted to tell Qian that the snake incident wasn’t planned to deceive her from the start.

At the first glance of the snake, it was quickly moving towards the bushes. He hadn’t seen its head, and the only way to distinguish a venomous snake in such short time is by its head. He only thought of protecting Qian and took it as a venomous snake.

He truly didn’t lie; most venomous snakes are lazy and reluctant to hide from people. In contrast, non-venomous snakes slip away quickly upon seeing humans. This one was a pet snake, not wary of humans, hence the mishap.

He only realized it was non-venomous after picking it up, but thinking of Mr. Liu’s advice to make Qian trust him and feel his capabilities in danger, he decided to play along.

The intention was good, but it turned out she was highly repulsed.

Now, with Qian disliking him so much, he couldn’t explain that his actions aimed to help her overcome pre-marital anxiety, and had to bear all her anger alone.

He didn’t want Qian to know he was aware of her pre-marital anxiety. If she knew his purpose, it would only add to her mental burden. He preferred to find ways to cheer her up rather than increase her stress. The marriage could wait, but she should not suffer any more emotional damage.

”Qian, if you’re upset, just beat me or scold me. Don’t keep it to yourself.” He suppressed all explanations, softly persuading her.

The door suddenly opened, and Qian stood in front of him with a blank expression, coldly saying.

”I hate being lied to the most.”

”I was wrong.”

”Yu Minglang, I’ll say it again: I hate being lied to, but you keep doing it!” Her gaze grew colder.

Yu Minglang gritted his teeth, suppressing the unspeakable truth.

”Fine, now get lost at the speed of light. I don’t want to see you! Not now, not ever!”

When Qian said this, she actually hoped he would persistently explain the truth as before. As long as he promised not to do it again, she might not be so angry.

But off he went, speedily.

Qian kicked the door, thinking what a useless fool, not obedient when needed, and too obedient when not!

As night fell, he sat in the courtyard tent watching stars, while she watched him from the bed in their guest room.

The honest boss stood by the window looking at the green bulge in the yard, asking his wife.

”What are these two city folks doing here? Why are they setting up a tent? Did the young couple have a fight?”

If not, why was she in the house and he in the courtyard in a tent?

But if they fought, it’s not likely either. Why go on a trip and argue unhappily?

Kicked out by Qian, Yu Minglang sat in the tent, holding a borrowed book, ”Care for Postpartum Sows,” pretending to read by flashlight.

What a small world; he had borrowed this very book from the library when he just started pursuing Qian, using it to mask his pursuit intentions.

Now, having his proposal rejected and being resented by Qian, seeing the book again brought inexplicable sadness. Others improve their standing, yet he ended up booted out?

Getting kicked out wasn’t the problem. What terrified Yu Minglang most was Qian’s cold expression; he feared if he dallied, she’d say even harsher words.

For instance, ”We’re not suitable for each other, a foolish man like you isn’t worthy of me, let’s break up...”

Just imagining that scenario weighed heavily on his chest, like several stones pressing down. How could he let go of his dearest?

But with Qian being so upset, was there still a chance for redemption?

Yu Minglang was a very accomplished man, academically and professionally unbeatable, a stellar figure to outsiders.

Yet as a boyfriend, he seemed to fail. Despite all efforts, he couldn’t resolve her inner conflict, only infuriating her further.

How to warm you, what to use to save marriage and love—Yu Minglang looked at the starry sky, a little lost.
