Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 385: Chapter 359: Collapse Therapy

Yu Minglang was left feeling utterly defeated by Panpan’s crying. Qian glanced at his helpless, silly expression with disdain and brushed him off, ”Good for nothing!”

”Maybe I should just knock him out. I could chop him on the neck and he’d fall asleep right away,” Yu Minglang suggested, as if trying to salvage his image in Qian’s eyes.

”Get lost!”

How could he possibly use the same methods on a small child that he uses on criminals? And even think of hitting the neck—what a ruthless thought!

It wasn’t just Qian who looked down on Yu Minglang; even the sister-in-law couldn’t stand it.

Pushing Yu Minglang aside, Qian crouched in front of Panpan and whispered something in his ear. Panpan immediately stopped crying, resisting the urge to sob. Crying has its own inertia and can’t be stopped immediately. He tried hard to hold back, his tears pooling around his eyes.

But he didn’t cry anymore, covering his mouth with his little hand, looking pitiful.

”What did you say to him?” Yu Minglang found it amazing.

”I told him if he stopped crying, his Yi Yi would come out soon.”

The sister-in-law slapped her forehead, ”How did I forget to tell him that?”

Even though he’s young, the child has his own persistence.

What he cares about is his Yi Yi. As long as we satisfy his wish to see Dong Yi, it’ll be easier to handle.

Qian held Panpan in her arms, gently patting him and walking back and forth.

Crying had exhausted him; after a while of patting, he fell asleep.

”Qian, I’ve discovered you’re really great at taking care of kids,” Yu Minglang came over to flatter her, looking at Qian with starry eyes.

The way she takes care of the baby is so nurturing, completely different from her usual competent self.

Looking at the baby, she seemed nurturing, but when looking at him, it was undisguised disdain.

”The key to dealing with kids lies in the word ’soothe,’ got it?”

”Tricking a kid, as if that’s reasonable...” Yu Minglang muttered quietly. Qian cast him a sidelong glance, so he immediately put on an ingratiating smile.

”You’re beautiful, everything you say is right!”

”What do we do now? If that girl leaves and Panpan wakes up, he’s going to cry again...” Even the sister-in-law was at a loss.

Panpan has been in a bad mood these days. Initially, everyone thought he was too young to remember things clearly and that he’d forget in a few days.

But it didn’t work; he kept remembering, and even got anxious about it.

Even such a small child can get anxious—his little mouth developed sores. Mrs. Yu gave him some child-friendly tea to reduce the heat, but he refused to drink. This is bad for his health.

”Where’s Second Brother?” Qian asked.

”Mr. Yu is inside with her. He carried her in and hasn’t come out,” the sister-in-law nodded towards the emergency room.

A sudden fainting spell requires a full round of tests to check for any heart issues.

”What happened just now?” Qian asked.

The sister-in-law spoke honestly, and Qian pondered for a while. Yu Minglang voiced what she was thinking inside.

”Actually, my Second Brother probably just scared her into fainting, right?”

A perfectly healthy person fainted upon seeing Mr. Yu—why didn’t she faint at any other time?

Qian also felt that Yu Minglang had a point.

Just then, Second Brother came out, looking serious.

”How is she?” the sister-in-law asked.

Mr. Yu shook his head, ”The doctor is still checking. They said it might not be anything serious, but I asked them to run a comprehensive test just to be sure.”

Qian understood.

Mr. Yu was just worried about Da Yi.

The doctor has likely already determined that it’s not too severe, ruling out any acute illnesses, but Mr. Yu wants comprehensive testing for peace of mind.

”I’ll go pay; you guys keep an eye out. Call me if there’s anything,” Mr. Yu went downstairs to pay the bill.

In Qian’s arms, Panpan seemed to be encountering a bad dream, his little face scrunched up again.

When he wakes up and doesn’t see Da Yi, he’ll probably cry again. His crying is piercing to the eardrums; both Qian and the sister-in-law were a bit apprehensive.

”Sister-in-law, perhaps you should get some sedatives ready. If he cries when he wakes up, give him a shot to put him to sleep. Or Qian, didn’t you mention you can hypnotize and block memories? Why don’t you block his memories of Dong Yi?”

Yu Minglang’s harebrained idea was met with concurrent rolled eyes from Qian and the sister-in-law.

A minute later, Yu Minglang was standing punished in the corner, bored, watching Qian walk back and forth with the child. She seemed to be thinking about something.

Every so often, she would glance at the baby, then at the unopened door of the ER.

When Qian was deep in thought, she would sometimes knit her brows, sometimes ponder deeply. Yu Minglang watched her, his eyes full of tender affection.

”Xiaoqiang...” Qian gestured for Yu Minglang to come closer, looking conflicted.

”Hmm?” Yu Minglang leaned in.

Qian leaned in to whisper something in his ear.

Yu Minglang’s mouth twitched, ”Are you sure... you’re going to do this?”

Could Second Brother’s IQ handle this?

Qian blinked, ”This is a mental breakdown therapy from psychology. Magnify the fear to its zenith. If it works, they won’t be so hung up on it. If it doesn’t work...”

Yu Minglang looked at her, waiting for her to finish. Qian sighed.

”If it doesn’t work, Second Brother will come after me later—can you hold your own against him?”

”...”

”I don’t really like interfering in others’ affairs, but in this case, if I don’t intervene, it’ll bother both of us.”

These two people—a blood brother to Yu Minglang and Qian’s roommate—are so closely linked to their daily lives. If it can’t be avoided, might as well face it head-on!

Despite Qian’s high-sounding explanations involving psychological therapy methods and familial and friendly bonds, Yu Minglang summed up the crux of Qian’s plan in layman’s terms with his high IQ.

”Are you going to pour a bucket of Korean drama melodrama over Second Brother’s head?”

Korean dramas have become fashionable in recent years.

When at home, Yu Minglang accidentally saw a few scenes of the Korean drama his mom was watching, which gave him goosebumps all over.

It’s so utterly ridiculous. Couples must be siblings, or they must be terminally ill, exaggerating improbable events to harvest tears from middle-aged and older women. Mrs. Yu was completely absorbed in the show. At first, Yu Minglang thought it could only fool women with no exposure to the world.

But seeing how engrossed his mom was, not only was she hooked herself, she even dragged her sister-in-law along to discuss the plot. Sometimes the two would sit together, wiping tears and snot. Unable to take it, Yu Shaojiang remarked casually that only someone with a screw loose would believe this stuff.

As a result, Yu Shaojiang was denied meat for a week, forcing the old man to eat at the barracks. As a dignified major-general, his family status fell so low just for speaking a little truth, it was frankly outrageous!
