Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 378: Chapter 352: The Truth Is About to Come Out

Mrs. Yu was amused by her words.

”Yes, you little girl, you always know how to talk. I love chatting with you. Come on, let’s chat outside.”

Up until she chatted with Qian, Mrs. Yu hadn’t realized the seriousness of the problem. She thought the child was just temporarily unable to sleep. Qian is so capable, she should be able to handle it within a few tries.

Mrs. Yu and Qian left the room and saw the two brothers in the study room seemingly addicted to drinking. Yu Minglang couldn’t touch alcohol over the years, but today is his joyous day, he’s happy and enjoying the future with his brother.

Mrs. Yu originally planned to chat with Qian about Xiaoxi’s insomnia, but she didn’t think it was a serious issue. She treated it like a headache or mild fever, seeing the sons drinking so happily, she put on an apron and went into the kitchen, wanting to personally make a couple of snacks for them.

”Qian, come and help me wash the vegetables; we can chat while cooking.” Mrs. Yu didn’t treat Qian as an outsider. She called her into the kitchen to help, and cooking together with her daughter-in-law was a little wish for this elderly lady. After all, she had a daughter who was clueless in the kitchen and her eldest daughter-in-law was always very busy, so she pinned her hopes on Qian.

Qian helped wash the vegetables, seeing Mrs. Yu in a pleasant mood. She organized her thoughts and decided not to tell Mrs. Yu the truth yet, but to indirectly sound her out first.

”Auntie, is Xiaoxi a very self-centered person?”

”Are you asking if she is decisive? Definitely. Though there are many men in our family, none have her decisiveness. Since childhood, if she’s against something, no matter what, she won’t do it. I remember buying her clothes, if the style didn’t suit her, she simply wouldn’t wear them. Back then, a piece of clothing cost a week’s salary, but no matter how much I persuaded, it didn’t work.”

Thinking of those past events amused and annoyed Mrs. Yu.

Ultimately, that piece of clothing was left untouched. Yu Mingxi disliked something, no matter how much you beat or scold her, it wouldn’t help. This girl has the personality of walking one path to the end.

No wonder she’s losing sleep... When Qian was chatting with Yu Mingxi, she already sensed her and Yu Minglang were completely different in character.

It’s said that twins have opposite personalities, one is quiet, one is active. Yu Minglang and Yu Mingxi were single until now, but Yu Mingxi’s singleness is absolutely different from Minglang’s.

Yu Minglang remained single to find Qian, with a preference for purity in emotions; except for Qian, no one was good enough for him. However, Yu Mingxi is clearly another extreme.

While Qian was pondering, Mrs. Yu assumed she was upset about the engagement party incident and started to console her.

”Qian, Xiaoxi can be a bit too straightforward at times. Today’s incident was her fault. Once she wakes up, I’ll talk to her about it. Don’t let this affect your feelings towards her.”

Qian shook her head, ”I’m not bothered by this. I think—Auntie, I believe Xiaoxi’s insomnia is due to excessive stress and she’s currently in an extremely repressive state. I’m unable to determine yet whether this pressure is from the workplace or elsewhere.”

For a woman with relatively good conditions to feel such immense pressure, even leading to psychological issues, Qian was equally perplexed.

Being called a princess isn’t just empty praise, Yu Mingxi indeed earned it. Growing up in such an environment, what could possibly cause her stress, making her unable to sleep?

”Really? She’d tell me if there was anything. I haven’t heard her mention anything.” Mrs. Yu paused her hand slicing vegetables.

”I just helped her fall asleep through hypnosis, and I gave her a suggestion then. I asked her to manifest the pressure in her dreams. When she wakes up, could you ask her what she dreamed of?”

Qian felt that Yu Mingxi hadn’t gotten close to her yet; some things were better asked by Mrs. Yu.

”Okay, I’ll ask.” Hearing Qian speak so seriously, Mrs. Yu became more concerned.

”Mom, I’m hungry.” Yu Minglang shouted, having drunk so much alcohol at the engagement party, he became hungry upon returning.

”There are small dumplings, do you want some?” Mrs. Yu asked.

”I’ll settle for them, I’m not fussy, easy to take care of.”

Mrs. Yu laughed with annoyance, ”Look at his attitude.”

Coincidentally, there were five-color dumplings she made earlier in the fridge. Mrs. Yu took them out, just about to cook them for her son, when Yu Mingxi appeared at the door yawning.

”Make me a bowl too—Hey, you managed to make me sleep for 2 hours, impressive.” Yu Mingxi said to Qian.

She hadn’t felt this relaxed for ages, her youngest brother’s fiancée indeed had a knack.

Seeing her daughter awake, remembering Qian’s suggestion, Mrs. Yu handed the dumpling bag to Qian.

”Qian, cook this, I’ll have a talk with Xiaoxi.”

Mrs. Yu remembered what Qian said, to ask her daughter about her dream. With Qian speaking so gravely, Mrs. Yu realized the matter might not be as lighthearted as she thought, needing prompt attention.

Given that, such a simple ”task” like cooking dumplings naturally fell to Qian.

Usually, Mrs. Yu refrained from asking Qian to do things, but now they were engaged, part of the family, so she didn’t treat Qian as an outsider. Being too polite to Qian would make her feel no sense of belonging to the family.

Qian looked at the dumpling bag in her hand, growing worried.

It would’ve been great if Mrs. Yu handed her a broom...

It’s not because Qian was being pampered over cooking dumplings. She understood the goodwill of Mrs. Yu accepting her as family, but—

She still needed to know how to cook them!

Seeing Qian stiffly staring at the dumpling bag, Yu Mingxi raised her eyebrows.

”Mom, she doesn’t know how to cook, does she?”

Yes, I don’t know how to cook! Qian roared in her heart.

Not long ago, Chen Zilong, the mischievous one, exposed her dirty laundry, talking about the time she exploded dumplings that stuck to the ceiling. Now with Mrs. Yu handing this item, Qian sensed foreboding that her perfect persona in the Yu Family’s hearts might be ruined by these dumplings.

Qian looked pitifully at Mrs. Yu, hoping she might withdraw the decision.

But the usually understanding Mrs. Yu seemed out of sync with Qian’s brainwaves today.

Facing her daughter’s skepticism, Mrs. Yu didn’t hold back in her response.

”Do you think Qian is like you? Doesn’t even know how to boil dumplings, turning them into sesame paste! Qian is very capable, you should learn from her!”

”...” My future mother-in-law, you really don’t have to rate me this highly, I might not...even be able to make sesame paste, Qian thought pitifully watching the back of Mrs. Yu and Yu Mingxi.

However, Mrs. Yu didn’t seem to receive Qian’s silent plea, focusing on fulfilling the task Qian had given.

Qian stood in the kitchen holding the dumpling bag, feeling the chill of the wind.
