Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 356: Chapter 330: Making a Choice

The two brothers made five dishes: cucumber with white fungus, peanuts, braised beans, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and a pre-bought roast chicken.

The cold dishes were made by Mr. Yu, while the hot dishes were prepared by Yu Minglang. Qian thought Yu Minglang seemed rough but was actually very considerate. He remembered she had once mentioned liking scrambled eggs with tomatoes.

He cooked it quite well.

”From now on, cooking will be your task,” Qian joked with Yu Minglang.

”Sure, you just need to wash the dishes,” Yu Minglang replied without minding.

”Actually, when two people are together, there’s no need for much consideration. As long as they can live together, right, Second Brother?” Qian suddenly turned the topic to the always silent Mr. Yu who was eating.

Upon hearing Qian’s question, Mr. Yu responded with a nod.

Dong Yi paused in feeding the child.

Usually perceptive, Qian acted as if she hadn’t noticed the awkwardness between Second Brother and Dong Yi and continued.

”Second Brother, you’ve been divorced for a while now. Have you considered finding Panpan another mother?”

”I’m full,” Mr. Yu put down his bowl.

As he was about to stand, Yu Minglang directly pulled him down, forcibly sitting him back.

”Mom has been receiving calls about you every day lately. Many folks want to introduce their daughters to you. Dong Yi is about to start school; what about Panpan then? Always having Mom raise him isn’t good for the child either.”

Qian immediately followed the rhythm.

”Even if someone from another generation is good to a child, they can’t replace a parent’s love. If you keep delaying, once the child grows up, finding someone might not be easy. If you find someone suitable, you should also consider personal issues.”

Second Brother was annoyed by being talked to back and forth by Qian and Yu Minglang.

”You two aren’t even engaged yet, but you’re already ganging up on me.”

”Honestly, why don’t you call Mom now and ask her? See where they have lined up those blind dates for you?”

Just as Yu Minglang finished speaking, Dong Yi put down her bowl and stood up.

”I’m going to the bathroom.”

She couldn’t bear to listen, went into the bathroom, closed the door, and never came out.

Without Dong Yi, Panpan pouted, sulking, and refused to eat. He wouldn’t let Mr. Yu hold him either, stubbornly sitting in Dong Yi’s place, waiting for her to return.

Mr. Yu glared at Yu Minglang.

”Can’t even eat peacefully.”

It’s all the fault of the youngest couple, talking nonsense; Dong Yi must be feeling very awkward now, right?

Mr. Yu wanted to find Dong Yi to comfort her a bit, but didn’t know what to say, especially with Yu Minglang and Qian still there; he didn’t know how to talk.

”Don’t just look at the surface of the issue; neither Qian nor I said anything wrong. So why are you feeling awkward?”

Yu Minglang picked up his bowl and continued eating.

Mr. Yu was annoyed watching him, took his chopsticks, and placed them on the table.

”All you know is eating.”

Qian took some meat and fed it to Yu Minglang, who opened his mouth happily and didn’t forget to use his gaze to provoke his divorced, second-married brother, ”Second Brother, I kind of sympathize with you.”

Having talked to this extent, both Yu Minglang and Qian had made their point clear, yet these two ostriches persisted in their ways.

If there weren’t any pushing and encouragement, these two might have remained in the Stone Age for who knows how many years, both Yu Minglang and Qian shared this view.

Words must be made clear; letting these two ostriches pretend not to know and continue dragging things would be detrimental to both, whether it leads to something good or ends—it must have a result. Delaying decisions won’t yield good outcomes for either Dong Yi or Mr. Yu.

After the meal, Qian said she wanted to eat fried chicken cutlets from outside the school entrance, suggesting Mr. Yu drive Dong Yi there while she and Yu Minglang stayed at home to watch the child.

Encountered with his parents away and Yi Yi absent, Panpan showed signs of irritability. His late speech meant he couldn’t express dissatisfaction in complete sentences, so he went around causing trouble, sometimes dismissing the games Qian played with him as boring, other times dissatisfied with the height at which Yu Minglang held him; disagreements led to tears, leaving Yu Minglang and Qian’s eardrums aching.

The two finally managed to lull Panpan to sleep, when, in his slumber, the little rascal wet the bed again. Qian had to hold the bare-bottomed napping child while Yu Minglang changed the sheets.

”Raising a child is not easy,” Yu Minglang complained; this little brat in Second Brother’s family was not cute at all.

”Actually, you get used to it, and it’s quite cute as well,” Qian watched Yu Minglang complain verbally while carefully helping the child with the bedding, envisioning that Yu Minglang should be a decent father in the future.

”Depending on whose child it is—I don’t like my Second Brother’s, but I like yours. Qian Bao, let’s have several kids in the future, shall we?” Yu Minglang was happy thinking about children with Qian.

”You like kids?”

”I like the kids you will have.” Previously, he hadn’t thought that far, but seeing Qian holding Panpan, Yu Minglang couldn’t help but imagine her holding their own children—it would surely be more loving.

”You’re just joking,” Qian didn’t show her inner sweetness outwardly.

”I’m serious; having more kids is actually great. Look at my family—several kids all getting along well. Even with my Second Brother dragging things down, we are here to support him.”

Yu Minglang felt a bit regretful; his profession would only allow one baby in the future, slightly less. But with the kids of his brothers around, his child won’t be lonely.

”Can Second Brother talk things through with Yi Yi this time they go out?” Qian deliberately sent them out, wanting Second Brother to make things clear.

Surely, this can’t go on indefinitely with nothing being said; Dong Yi couldn’t continue accompanying Second Brother, raising his child for free. Even if both of them feel there’s no problem in such interactions, others see it as unfavorable for both Dong Yi and Second Brother.

Yu Minglang understood Mr. Yu’s character quite well; Second Brother would definitely not choose Dong Yi, even if he had already learned Dong Yi holds a special place in Second Brother’s heart, the result was predictable to Yu Minglang.

”Second Brother might express gratitude to Dong Yi and then find another doctor for Panpan.”

”Haven’t you noticed that Second Brother feels differently about Yi Yi?”

During Yu Minglang’s probing of Mr. Yu, Qian, as an observer, saw it quite clearly.

”It’s useless; my Second Brother is even more stubborn than I am. Even if he doesn’t speak much, he’s firm in his decisions. It’s not just because he’s a divorced man with a child; even if he were single, he wouldn’t be with Dong Yi. If he backs off now, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.”

”Why is that?”

”Because of my family’s sense of responsibility—Dong Yi calls him Uncle, making it impossible. Plus, he’s divorced and has a child; how could he pursue a college student? At the start, it was only because I knew you had OCD that I dared to make a move.”

The age gap is significant, and the woman is a student; it’s unlikely, given the circumstances, that Mr. Yu would choose Dong Yi.
