Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 382: Chapter 356: Psychological Warfare

”You really threatened our aunt?” Mr. Yu was dumbfounded.

He thought Yu Laomao forcing Aunt’s husband into premature retirement was already ruthless enough.

Little did he expect there to be someone worse – although Mr. Yu didn’t know that Qian was no better than Yu Mingxi; they’re equally matched in cunning. So when Mr. Yu spoke, Qian nervously drank, treating wine like tea, while Yu Minglang seemed to see through everything, watching her with an amused expression.

”It wasn’t really a threat, I just reached out to my student. She recently got a role in a drama mainly playing a mistress who confronts the wife. Of course, art imitates life, so I let her practice on our aunt.”

Seeing the expressions of understanding from everyone at the table, Yu Mingxi defensively explained.

”This can’t be blamed on me. When she was about to leave early, I reminded her, saying she should stay to apologize to the youngest. I even told my apprentice she should leave afterward if our aunt didn’t leave early. I would switch someone else for practice if she stayed, but Aunt didn’t listen and insisted on leaving with a scowl. Is that my fault?”

Well, it’s not your fault... just kidding!

Qian couldn’t control her schadenfreude, forgive her for being so lacking in sympathy.

Yu Mingxi’s approach in handling this matter surprisingly matched Qian’s.

Qian got herself over twenty disposable phone cards with untraceable numbers, calling Aunt at random times daily. On the first day, she had Shi Touyu say, ”Are you who I think you are? Is your husband who I think he is? I know everything you’ve done.” Then hung up.

From then on, she called at random times daily with silent calls.

Tormenting her like this.

Just like boiling a frog slowly, employing Heart Attack Skill.

For someone like Aunt, who held a grudge against Qian over a personal vendetta for so long, even going so far as to try to ruin Qian’s reputation by any means, Qian didn’t believe this pampered woman nearing her fifties could have no weaknesses.

The saying goes: when you do no evil, you fear no ghosts knocking on your door.

Scaring her like this, without saying anything specific, letting her figure it out.

And someone with such a status wouldn’t dare to report the calls for investigation, fearing Qian might call someone else and only able to answer them without turning off her phone, afraid the calls would reach her husband.

Aunt clearly had many weaknesses, some even her husband didn’t know about.

Playing like this for over half a month, Qian tormented Aunt into insomnia, meanwhile, she felt avenged.

What Yu Mingxi did today seemed to have relieved Aunt’s tension, making her likely believe the calls these days were from this woman.

The tension has lifted, but things won’t quiet down; she probably will start fights with her husband upon returning home, who recently planned retirement. His mood wouldn’t be good, and whatever happens, Qian anticipated but didn’t sympathize.

”I was just joking with her; didn’t she also want to joke with me? Since she thinks I look like a wielded blade, I won’t disappoint her; wield a blade poorly, and blood is bound to spill.”

Even though Yu Mingxi didn’t hold a good impression of Qian before engaging her, perhaps even terrible.

But she remembered Yu Minglang came out of the womb beside her, and despite their usual antics, they grew up together from the very beginning, naturally forming a deep bond.

Aunt should never have included Yu Minglang and Yu Mingxi in her calculations.

Even though Yu Mingxi disliked Qian, she would consider the harm done to her brother by Aunt stirring things up, hence testing Qian while hitting Aunt.

The wisest thing Qian did was not to contend with Yu Mingxi over this matter. She saved Minglang face while avoiding the hassle of butting heads with Yu Mingxi—not because she couldn’t win, but because it wasn’t necessary.

Yu Minglang cares deeply for her, but he didn’t jump out of a rock; he has his family. Yu Minglang isn’t foolish; he sees everything clearly. If Qian takes a step back, he must respect her more significantly. Qian does not only forcefully attack; she also takes the smart route.

Anyway, since Yu Mingxi is often abroad and barely returns twice a year, why contend over this?

”It’s about time to find her something to keep her occupied, save her from always focusing her energy on my darling Qian. She’s obsessive; once she fixates on someone, it’s endless. She can’t properly educate her son and sees the whole world as her enemy. Give her something to do to save her from fussing idly.”

”Exactly, all of you better keep this secret. If anyone dares leak it to dad, I won’t let it go!”

Yu Mingxi wasn’t finished when he felt Yu Minglang and Qian jabbing him from either side. Looking up, he saw Mrs. Yu standing at the study doorway holding a plate of sliced fruits.

Now it’s awkward...

Caught red-handed!

Yu Mingxi’s mouth twitched as he glanced at Mr. Yu for help; Mr. Yu lowered his head pretending to adjust his clothes, glancing at Yu Minglang, the twins, born of one womb, ”Go on!”

This twin clearly couldn’t be relied on, pretending to pour wine.

In the critical moment, Qian took the lead, stepping up.

Qian pretended not to see Yu Mingxi and mused to herself, ”People remain the same from a young age to old age; if someone was a peerless sister-in-law when young, they would be a peerless aunt in old age, bullying the elder, then scheming against the younger...”

Qian firmly believed Aunt’s personality wasn’t shaped in just a day or two.

Yu Minglang repeatedly emphasized that Aunt had been pampered by grandparents and uncles, growing a little twisted; anyone not following her whims seems offensive.

This peerless aunt was surely once a peerless sister-in-law. Even without speculation, Yu Minglang’s scholarly mother must have suffered a lot from Aunt upon marrying in, never assuming that the peerless sister-in-law would cease being a troublemaker in old age!

So timely reminding, intending to reprimand the kids for overdoing it, hearing Qian’s words, suddenly recalled those times of being bullied by the sister-in-law during youth.

Back when the Yu Family was large, Mrs. Yu brought her brother Qi Yue along, with Mr. Yu’s side still having unmarried aunties, and as conditions were poor years ago, Mrs. Yu couldn’t accompany away, staying home to manage the large family, balancing work and household chores.

Aunt didn’t do any housework, wiped her mouth post-meals without washing dishes, asking Mrs. Yu to do her laundry, even having her wash blood-stained pants during menstrual events at eighteen. Not to mention, reckless and unreasonable, telling Mr. Yu whenever he returned home, various complaints about Mrs. Yu mistreating her. Fortunately, Mr. Yu understood, or else Aunt would have broken up the house.
