Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 377: Chapter 351: Wishful Thinking

”So, I asked Uncle to come down early to accompany that hormone-impaired old lady, it’s all a form of care for her.”

Yu Minglang blew on his wine glass, his eyes absolutely clear.

This wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision; it was a thoughtfully considered choice. When Aunt used such extreme measures against his beloved, without considering the consequences, he didn’t need to consider Aunt’s feelings either. If she didn’t treat him and Mei as family, he wouldn’t have to show any leniency.

”The women in our family are really spoiled too much, Xiaoxi included. Thankfully, Qian reacted swiftly today.”

Yu Minglang shook his head, ”Xiaoxi and Aunt are two different concepts. Even when Mingxi gets muddled, she has some restraint when she strikes. What is Aunt? She has the audacity to play tricks without the intellect of others, completely lacking in restraint. I had to act first and report later. If Dad finds out, that old man might feel sorry for his sister and ask me to endure it. Who will feel sorry for my wife then?”

Mr. Yu was noncommittal, ”Should I have another daughter with your sister-in-law? The women in our family hold pretty high status.”

”You already have two kids, what’s the point of having more? Who doesn’t want a daughter? But even if one day, Qian and I have a pair of big girls—”

Mr. Yu couldn’t listen anymore, ”You’re too greedy, a pair?”

Yu Minglang chuckled twice, ”One must have ideals when living. I’m just making an analogy. If in the future Qian just happens to conceive twin daughters, triplets, or quadruplets—”

”Get out of here! Do all the good things happen in your family? You marry a good wife and you’re not satisfied, now you want several daughters?” Mr. Yu chuckled and shook his head, feeling that Yu Laomao was overly pleased with himself, already dreaming while just getting engaged.

Their family’s genes somehow seem to have an issue; having daughters is particularly difficult. Among the many brothers of one generation, having even one family with a girl is considered very lucky. Yet, Yu Laomao greedily wants several!

”I’m just casually saying, a mere example. If Mei is willing to give me kids in the future, I’d be delighted, whether they’re girls or boys. But as an analogy, if I had a bunch of blooming little daughters, lively and adorable, more sensible than Yu Sanfeng, I wouldn’t spoil them. If parents don’t educate well and only pamper, they’ll end up like Aunt, feeling as if the whole world revolves around them. Living to an old age yet still like a child, the issue is, are people outside all our grandparents, all indulging her?”

After finishing his righteous speech, Yu Minglang, as if recalling something, grinned with pleasure.

”Furthermore, even if I wanted to spoil the kids, you see what Mei is like, she would surely be a great mother, she’d educate our kids with me. Parents must provide material things to the extreme, but mustn’t neglect educational needs.”

”Tsk tsk, seeing your shameless expression, I feel like punching you. And you think pretty far ahead, already considering parenting?”

Mr. Yu was somewhat unaccustomed.

In his memory, his younger brother was still that trouble-causing little brat, but in a blink, the younger brother had grown up so much.

”Of course one must think of these things. One may not understand them, but they must learn. After proposing to Mei, I started studying these things, like marriage and family dynamics, couple interactions, parenting guides, recipes, all must be studied thoroughly. People are entrusting their futures to me, I can’t muddle through life.”

Yu Minglang was almost considering what to do and where to go after retirement.

Excitedly researching future planning with the woman he liked was a very happy thing.

”Recipes...” Mr. Yu felt as if something odd had been mixed in.

”Don’t worry about the details; come, let’s drink~” Yu Minglang was in a great mood today.

”By the way, did your Qian have any responses when she learned it was Aunt who spread the news? Does she agree with your way of handling it?” Mr. Yu thought aloud.

From what he saw, Qian was the type who couldn’t stand having flaws go unaddressed, not the kind to suffer grievances silently.

”She reached a consensus with me. It’s enough if I’m happy about it; it’s fine if she’s happy too. Come, come, drink!”

Yu Minglang deflected the topic, stopping Mr. Yu from further questions.

Mrs. Yu said goodbye early to Mr. Yu’s old friends, leaving her husband alone outside, and hurriedly returned.

She feared her daughter and Qian might get into a fierce fight, and thought about how to mediate her children’s relationships on the way back.

Upon returning, Mrs. Yu found the living room empty, heard voices in the study, and went over to see Yu Minglang and Yu Mingli had drunk more than half a bottle of her husband’s hidden Moutai.

”Where are Qian and Xiaoxi?”

”Not sure, maybe chatting.” Mr. Yu waved his hand as Yu Minglang cheerfully spoke to his mom.

”Mom, care for a drink?”

Mrs. Yu was so angry she knocked Yu Minglang on the head.

”You haven’t a care in the world, drinking yourselves to death! Why is your heart so big!”

She hurried outside, intending to check on Xiaoxi and Qian, worried the two children might resume fighting after coming back from the hotel.

She knocked gently twice on the door, and Qian opened it.

Inside Mingxi’s bedroom, Mingxi lay flat on the bed, expression peaceful, deeply asleep. Mrs. Yu hadn’t expected this; Qian gestured for her to step outside to talk.

”How did she fall asleep?” Mrs. Yu asked.

”Xiaoxi has been experiencing some insomnia lately; I helped her adjust a bit.”

”Her insomnia hasn’t gotten better? She mentioned over the phone; I prescribed her Chinese medicine, hoping it would help.”

Mrs. Yu was aware of her daughter’s insomnia.

”Her current condition, using medication for sleep only addresses symptoms—not the root cause—Auntie, you should switch to these medicines.”

Qian named several mood-calming medicines, leaving Mrs. Yu puzzled.

”Why not continue with sleep medication? I checked her pulse, thinking she had some cerebral blood flow deficiency.”

”Based on my assessment, Xiaoxi’s insomnia is due to mental tension, using mood-calming medicines alongside guidance from a counselor can release the tension, leading to sleep. The cerebral blood flow insufficiency would also improve.”

”It’s odd, this child was carefree growing up, carrying her bag to attend auditions as an actress without any nerves, how come she grew up tense?” Mrs. Yu murmured, though she noted down the medicines Qian suggested.

Now, throughout the Yu Family, no one doubted Qian’s professional capabilities; her work was evident to everyone.

”The people we remember always stay in a certain phase, but people keep changing; kids will grow up. Those who were strong may one day need help. Xiaoxi might be facing something now; family attention will suffice.”
