Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 371: Chapter 345: Becoming a Rich Lady (Bonus Update for 2,350 Monthly Votes)

”Yeah, haha, these kids just love to joke around.” Mrs. Yu could hardly muster a smile, her voice almost stiff.

This fool of a third child, just wait until the party’s over, she won’t be let off!

”Quick, take Qian to the other tables to toast, don’t delay the auspicious hour!”

Mrs. Yu wracked her brains to separate this pair of foolish twins, saying it’s the auspicious hour for toasts was just a made-up excuse.

Yu Minglang shot a deadly glare at Yu Mingxi, don’t you dare leave after the event, we’re settling this!

Yu Mingxi resisted, can’t beat me, you’re just a wimp, a total wimp!

Mrs. Yu glared at Yu Mingxi too, then went over to greet guests at other tables. This engagement party was full of ups and downs, not a single peaceful moment.

Yu Minglang felt Yu Mingxi was born to embarrass him, he had just publicly declared that whoever messed with his Mei would face him.

And what happened? The sister who crawled out with him from the same womb had the gall to throw him under the bus.

Yu Minglang’s head throbbed, what exactly was wrong with Yu Mingxi today? It’s not like her usually, as if she’d been possessed, causing chaos at his engagement party, women’s minds are indeed unfathomable.

Taking the opportunity of others’ distraction, Yu Minglang whispered to Qian, ”She’s just a fool, wait until after the event, I’ll sort her out.”

”It’s not targeted at me,” Qian whispered back.

”What?” Yu Minglang didn’t understand.

”After the party don’t butt heads with her, if you do, it’ll be hard for me to interact with her in the future, I’ll handle this.” Qian glanced playfully at Yu Minglang, ”You both crawled out from the same belly, embraced before you were even born. If things get awkward because of me, wouldn’t I be seen as the troublemaker?”

”Troublemaker? She’s the one who’s acting out.”

”If you don’t intervene, she’s just acting out temporarily, I can easily adjust her. If you do step in, I’m afraid my married life will boil down to one sentence.”

”What?”

”The story of me and the absurd things my sister-in-law does.”

”...”

Qian noticed Yu Minglang’s strange expression and asked in confusion.

”Xiaoqiang, did you touch a live wire?”

”No... Qian, I think I forgot to tell you something...”

Qian instinctively looked towards Yu Mingxi’s direction, they’re so far apart, should be fine, right?

”Back then, the one who taught us lip-reading was the same teacher.”

Seemingly in response to Yu Minglang, Yu Mingxi’s lips moved, Yu Minglang rubbed his temples.

”She said... she washed Bai Bai waiting for you to adjust her.”

For an engagement, creating a battlefield atmosphere, except him, no one else could pull that off.

After the party, Yu Minglang took Qian home first, after a whole day of hustle, they were worn out. Qian leaned against Yu Minglang, feeling a bit sleepy.

Mr. Yu and Mrs. Yu were still at the hotel dealing with follow-ups, while she and Yu Minglang slipped away early.

”Qian, tired? Let me give you a shoulder massage.” Yu Minglang reached out to massage Qian, she closed her eyes, feeling her bones might fall apart.

”Even an engagement is so exhausting, when we get married, let’s just get a certificate, no fuss.”

”That’s not an option, after all these years we’ve given so much out, not getting back some would pain mom, especially with big brother, he’s loaded, if he doesn’t give something he’d literally ache all over.”

Just as Yu Minglang finished, Mr. Yu and Mr. Yu walked in, Mr. Yu looking at the relaxed couple on the couch, was almost livid.

Mr. Yu felt he was the least privileged in all of creation.

He shouldn’t have been an elder brother to these troublemakers, every single one too bothersome.

What should have been Mr. Yu’s right-hand man, his brother, had a deadpan face throughout the engagement, totally out of it.

No one knew what Mr. Yu was looking at, like he left home without a brain, eyes dull, looking haggard, messed up several things, all cleaned up by Mr. Yu.

Mr. Yu didn’t show his face at all, didn’t help with preparations, showed up to ruin it all, luckily the sister-in-law reacted quickly or today would have been the greatest laughingstock in Yu’s history.

Before the end of the party, Mr. Yu was even dragged over by mom to complain, saying Yu Laomao was openly disrespecting Qian, with Yu Laomao nearly causing a scene.

They didn’t fall to rumors, but almost had internal strife, Mrs. Yu was furious, went straight to hold Mr. Yu accountable, only finding out that he had bolted.

As for Yu Laomao’s desperate attempt for attention, Mr. Yu remained silent, from a family duty standpoint, Laomao wasn’t wrong, but from his personal angle, he felt like socking him.

Mr. Yu already foresaw that once home, his wife would certainly dreamily bring up past grievances, demanding to know why the worst of their family could give his wife such a romantic vow, and retelling tales of how things were when they married...

With everyone stirring trouble during the family’s celebration, Mr. Yu wanted to kick them all out, except for the sister-in-law, everyone else were fools, undercover agents sent by the enemy to wreak havoc!

”Yu Laomao, you little bastard! We’re killing ourselves working on your engagement party, and you stab me in the back!”

Yu Minglang, caught, was unfazed, ”I’m just stating facts, if you’ve got the guts, don’t give Qian and me gifts—where are mom and dad?”

”Off having tea with old friends, asked me to pass this to Qian.”

Mr. Yu pulled a card from his pocket and a ledger.

”All the cash gifts from relatives are recorded here, I’ve saved it up for you guys. Mom wants Qian to handle it, also this...”

Mr. Yu placed a plastic bag on the floor, Mr. Yu had one too.

”What are these?” Qian took a look and was gobsmacked.

”Big brother, can’t you find a normal bag? Looks like dismembering and discarding!”

Restaurants use huge black garbage bags, the same ones big and second brother were holding, except those typically contained leftovers. What laid before Qian were gifts.

There were bags and luxury brands and some unidentifiable items.

”Wasn’t this meant to be low-key, why so much?” Qian casually flipped through, spotting several international brands.

”This is already as low-key as possible, these are direct relatives, ties remain strong. No need overthink, over the years mom, dad, and I haven’t stopped gifting outward, these direct relatives gave generously, take it. If there’s extras, they’re likely for Xiaoxi, you can sort them later.”

Mr. Yu handed over a list, names of precious gifts noted by sister-in-law.

Everything else can be dealt with casually.

Since the Yu twins were also celebrating birthdays today, thoughtful family friends would prepare double gifts, some meant for Xiaoxi.
