Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 200: Chapter 200: Well-Intentioned Lie

Mr. Yu stopped in his tracks and turned back to coax his wife, ”Don’t cry, this little brat must have been upset by the divorce, I’ll give him a good scolding and everything will be fine!”

”Why are you scolding him! It’s all my fault! Scold me instead!” Mrs. Yu grew more distressed the more she thought about it and suddenly raised her hand and slapped her own face forcefully.

”Ah! Jiaojiao, what are you doing!” Mr. Yu, in a hurry, called out her nickname that he only used behind closed doors.

”Yu, we have failed this child, we have failed...” Mrs. Yu cried uncontrollably.

Seeing her tears, all of Mr. Yu’s sternness vanished, and he hurriedly fetched towels and brought her water, pacing anxiously.

The two had gone through ups and downs throughout their journey together, and Mr. Yu had never allowed his wife to truly be angry. They had endured so much hardship in their younger days, and now seeing his aging wife crying like a teary mess, his heart felt like it was burning.

After coaxing her to explain the situation, Mr. Yu listened, growing angrier.

”This little brat, already this old, yet still as immature as a child!”

”What does mental illness have to do with maturity? Yu, we can’t blame the child, it’s our fault this time...”

”Is it that black-faced old schoolmate of yours influencing you, always talking about how psychology affects people? My child, Yu Weiguo’s kid, surely has strong willpower and iron-clad spirit. This small difficulty can be overcome a bit, right? I’ll go have a talk with him!”

”Yu, why can’t you understand? Mental issues aren’t something you can resolve just by having a stronger will. The child also wants to control it, but he can’t. He’s not happy even sitting in the cockpit now. If you let him continue, this child will surely agree just to please us, but he’s in pain himself!”

Mrs. Yu’s words made Mr. Yu fall into deep thought.

The second son is truly too excellent. He’s a pilot, and training a pilot costs so much money. It’s not easy. If he lets him resign, Mr. Yu feels he’s failing the country’s nurturing and also feels he’s a complete failure as a father. This dual failure plunged this almost always proud and successful man into deep silence.

”The child is already an adult. For so many years, he has lived for us. Now he says he doesn’t like this line of work anymore. Can we respect the child’s wishes, Yu, I beg you!”

Mrs. Yu pleaded.

Mr. Yu was tormented. As a father, he felt sorry for his child, but his feelings for his unit were ingrained. He couldn’t bear to see the unit suffer loss.

Torn apart.

”Jiaojiao, give me a few days, let me have a good think about it, okay?”

These few days, long and grueling.

Mrs. Yu continued gathering materials, trying to research for relevant consultations, the more she researched, the more disheartened she became, as it was exactly as Qian had said.

Yu Mingyi was waiting for his father to call, at ease, already guessing that in the end, it would be himself who would compromise.

As for Dong Yi, she didn’t even go to the cafeteria, nor attended classes, spending her days in the library with a loaf of bread.

Chen Xiaoqian knew she was worried about her second brother and persuaded Dong Yi several times. A psychologist isn’t a god and can’t cure all symptoms, but Dong Yi had already become obsessed.

Dong Yi couldn’t accept that she couldn’t help the little uncle who had saved her twice and given her a new life, so she went mad reading.

Dong Yi’s eyes were bloodshot, and Xiaoqian, seeing her like this, feared that if she continued to obsess, her recently recovered illness would relapse. Finally, one night while Dong Yi was staying up late studying, Xiaoqian turned on the light and said.

”Want to help him?”

”Yeah!” Dong Yi, who hadn’t rested well for days, looked haggard.

”Actually, there might be a way. Perhaps he’s just too tired. Pilots have long vacations every year. After your exams, accompany him on a trip to relax and help him find a sense of presence, and maybe he’ll be alright.”

”Really?” Dong Yi’s spirits lifted.

”Give it a try... You’re in your first year, exams are coming, you can’t go on like this. Get some sleep.” Xiaoqian took away Dong Yi’s book and turned off the light.

With Xiaoqian’s assurance, Dong Yi finally stopped acting so crazily. She started preparing energetically for her exams, just waiting to finish them and hurriedly take her little uncle for some relaxation.

Shi Yu took the opportunity while Dong Yi was away to ask Xiaoqian, ”Qian, how did you cure Dong Yi’s library adhesion syndrome?”

The illness name was Shi Yu’s own invention, meaning Dong Yi was always stuck in the library as if her feet were glued there.

”A kind lie... Hopefully, when she finds out I lied, she won’t hate me.”

Xiaoqian was lying; there was no cure. She had made it up, just to calm Dong Yi down from her alarming state until she finished her exams. From Xiaoqian’s point of view, Yu Mingyi was beyond saving unless he took off his uniform.

It’s hard to believe, but many nearly thirty adults hadn’t found themselves yet, including many bright and exceptional people.

Xiaoqian understood that simply blaming parents for all the responsibility was irresponsible. Parents aren’t gods; how could they foresee every detail?

The parents of the Yu Family received red education, and their ancestors educated their children this way. They’ve made their utmost efforts raising them, but the second brother’s situation was too unique. Being entrusted to colleagues, encountering a woman like Wang Xiaohong, and engaging in highly delicate work, all these factors intertwined, complicating the situation immensely.

For now, Dong Yi was calmed, but Xiaoqian’s troubles weren’t over, because she was hoodwinked by Shi Touyu.

At the drama club’s small theater, a group was practicing lines. Wearing a medieval-style retro velvet jacket, Chen Xiaoqian held a transparent goblet stained red like blood and read her lines expressionlessly.

”If you are willing, I’ll love you forever. If you are not, I’ll forever long for you. Goodbye, Xiaoqiang!”

Afterwards, she threw the glass on the ground, and the director shouted cut.

The other members of the club applauded, and Shi Yu clapped the loudest.

”Qian, you were amazing!”

Xiaoqian shot her a glare, ”What kind of clichéd lines are these, reading them gives me goosebumps!”

She had been dragged here by Shi Touyu for reasons that can’t be described. Let’s just say she underestimated this troublesome girl! This was the last rehearsal, and each time she recited the lines, she felt utterly revolted.

”The performance is tomorrow, Qian, go for it!” Shi Touyu led the chants, and the rest of the club joined in, ”Qian, go for it!”

Qian is someone with a temper and personality. Upon arrival, she disregarded the director and screenwriter’s objections and forcefully changed the lofty male lead’s name to the more rustic Xiaoqiang, but no one denied Qian’s acting skills.
