Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 169: Chapter 168: Got It

”Boo hoo, I can’t take it anymore, I want to transfer schools!” Shi Yu sat on her bed clutching a Bible. In addition to the red cloth tied to her bedpost, there was now a cross.

”Are you done yet?!” Chen Xiaoqian saw that Shi Yu had covered the entire dorm room walls with crosses as soon as she got back from school. The garlic, which the dorm manager had banned from hanging on the door, was now hanging at her bed.

”Who’s making a fuss! Qian, I’m scared, I’m really scared! If I’d known this school was haunted, I wouldn’t have come. What couldn’t I have applied to? I had to choose here! I need to call my brother, I’m dropping out; I’m going home!”

Chen Xiaoqian couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry, ”Haven’t you already used red cloth and garlic? Why are you putting up these things again?”

Shi Yu held up the Bible, saying in distress, ”I was too naive the day before yesterday. I thought the red cloth would be enough, but guess what?”

”Did you find out you were bored?”

”No! It turns out I was too naive. My mom taught me the red cloth only wards off Eastern evils, not Western ones!”

”Did a vampire raid the campus and bite your neck?”

”No! It was the Big Mouth Monkey, the Big Mouth Monkey!!”

Shi Yu was pulling her hair; she was terrified of those kinds of things.

”The Big Mouth Monkey... what does it have to do with Western ghosts?”

”Haven’t you heard the latest rumor? It’s said that around three a.m., there was a floating Big Mouth Monkey on the top floor of our dorm building. Good heavens, why did I come to such a place? Ahhh!”

Chen Xiaoqian was speechless, ”If you put all this energy into studying, you definitely wouldn’t fail your finals. Young lady, I see your textbooks are pretty new; are you sure you won’t fail your finals?”

”There’s always a retake for failing! But what if I’m taken by the floating Big Mouth Monkey?”

”Then you could have a Hello Kitty with the Big Mouth Monkey. Congratulations, you’d be the first in human history to see a monkey spirit, ha ha!”

”Qian! How can you say that! I’ve misjudged you! I didn’t expect you to be so heartless and gloating; I’m so scared and you still laugh at me!”

Chen Xiaoqian genuinely found it funny, ”If the Big Mouth Monkey can scare you, look at what little courage you have!”

Previously, they talked about a lady ghost in white, which was already absurd; now there’s a floating Big Mouth Monkey. Why not say a teacup and chair have come to life?

”It’s the floating Big Mouth Monkey!”

”Oh, it floated to you, and you just happened to cuddle up to sleep with it. I’ve never seen what a live Big Mouth Monkey looks like, ha ha ha!”

”Chen Xiaoqian! Are you even a friend?”

Seeing that she was genuinely angry, Chen Xiaoqian held back her laughter, intending to speak seriously, but looking at Shi Touyu, who was so scared, she wanted to laugh again.

”Pfft.”

”I’m breaking up with you! We’re not friends anymore!” Shi Yu stomped her feet in anger.

”I really think it’s so funny... Aren’t you guys just bored, not reading properly and coming up with this nonsense, even a Big Mouth Monkey?”

”It’s true! Someone saw it, at the same place last time, looking up at the top floor from the water room, they said they saw a floating Big Mouth Monkey. Then others went to check, and there was nothing to see, absolutely nothing!”

Shi Yu spoke creepily, while Chen Xiaoqian listened with amusement.

”That’s it, I just swapped pajamas with Dong Yi, Big Mouth Monkey pajamas can’t be worn either, too scary!”

Shi Yu was pondering how to destroy the Big Mouth Monkey pajamas Dong Yi left next to the pillow, while Chen Xiaoqian seemed to understand something.

Shi Yu was still frantic when Dong Yi walked in, carrying books borrowed from the library.

”Freshman, how’s your sleep lately?” Chen Xiaoqian asked.

”Fine.”

”Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”

”No.”

”Then recently, is there any particularly stressful thing?”

”...” Dong Yi didn’t answer, silently heading to her bed, intending to change her pajamas.

Shi Yu clung to her leg, ”Freshman, please~ don’t wear that scary outfit!”

”What?” Dong Yi asked Shi Yu.

”Aren’t you two sets of pajamas, could you change into the Doraemon one?”

”Okay.” Dong Yi obediently changed into her Doraemon pajamas.

Shi Yu spread out the Bible and began to quietly recite prayers.

”Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, please take back that Big Mouth Monkey spirit, it’s an American invention, any grievances, please direct them towards the evil capitalism, not us, Amen!”

Chen Xiaoqian found it amusing, glanced at Dong Yi in her Doraemon pajamas reading on her bed, and said, ”Shi Touyu, tomorrow you might need to prepare to worship Amaterasu, no more Bible recitals.”

”What’s that for?” Shi Yu put down the Bible.

”It’s the god worshipped by the people of Japan; tonight there might be a Doraemon supernatural event, yes, a floating Doraemon. It might not understand the Bible; you might need to worship the Japanese god.”

”Ah! Chen Xiaoqian, you’re not hoping for the best for me; seriously, there’s no way to be friends with you. I don’t want to encounter ghosts!!!” Shi Yu said so nervously, clutching the Bible.

”It’s meal time, wanna go eat?” Chen Xiaoqian closed her book and asked her two roommates.

”Let’s go, let’s go, there might be braised chicken wings tonight, ha ha!” At the mention of food, Shi Yu forgot about her fear of ghosts.

”Freshman, let’s go,” Chen Xiaoqian said to Dong Yi.

Dong Yi shook her head, ”I have pancakes, they’re enough.”

”Hey, that stuff’s so dry, how can you eat it? If you don’t want to go to the cafeteria, I’ll bring you something?” Shi Yu said to Dong Yi.

Dong Yi shook her head, ”This is enough.”

Watching Dong Yi’s actions and thinking about her recent enthusiasm for job hunting, Chen Xiaoqian’s speculations became more certain.

After eating, Chen Xiaoqian called Yu Minglang.

”Do you think there are ghosts in this world?”

”No, why? Are you thinking of becoming a seductive ghost to charm your way into my heart?”

”You jerk!” Chen Xiaoqian was puzzled, why was Yu Minglang getting more and more tactless? Although he usually joked, he would never be so blunt. What happened?

Yu Minglang finished a day’s work, feeling especially content to chat with his girl. Thinking about the two pairs of heart-patterned undies she bought for him warmed his heart even more.

”Qian, why are you suddenly asking about ghosts?”

”Nothing, I’m planning an episode of ’Into Science: BD Normal School Dorm Ghost Mystery’ to save lost girls tonight.”

”Chen Xiaoqian! There you go again! We’re not friends!” Shi Yu was terrified at the mention of ghosts.

”What’s going on? What’s that noise behind you?” Yu Minglang could hear Shi Yu’s desperate cries over the phone.

”Nothing, just a scaredy-cat girl, bye now.”

”Wait! Qian, I received the gift you sent me, it fits well, I really like it.”

”What gift?” Chen Xiaoqian didn’t register.

Yu Minglang read the brand of the undies and the considerate note from the salesperson, ”Qian, the service was good, although I don’t need the free gift now, but next time we definitely have to go—Qian?”

Chen Xiaoqian’s phone fell onto the table, and she sported a big red face.
