Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Qian Returns (1,700 Monthly Tickets Extra)

Yu Mingyi believed that the most carefree person in the Yu Family was Yu Laomao. Laomao did whatever he wanted, regardless of being beaten or scolded by his father. He lived according to his own desires. Mr. Yu wanted him to become a pilot, and Laomao always pretended to be obedient. But when it was time to register, he made his own decision at the last minute behind his father’s back.

He acted first and reported later, leaving Mr. Yu helpless.

Yu Mingyi, on the other hand, had always followed rules from childhood to adulthood, living according to his parents’ wishes. If his father said to become a pilot, he would. If his mother said it was time to start a family, he did so, thinking that following his parents’ wishes would make them happier. But it turned out not to be the case.

He still worried his parents.

”Uncle, what’s wrong with you? The health checkup at the unit has always been good, hasn’t it?”

Dong Yi thought he had some physical problem.

”There’s no issue with the health checkup, but I’ve been having the same dream for many years. I feel that if this continues, I might suffer from nervous exhaustion. Yet, I pass the regular psychological tests for pilots at the unit with no issues.”

Yu Mingyi had been troubled by this for a long time.

He constantly dreamed of being trapped in a swamp with many people around him, but none reaching out to help. He had even consulted psychological intervention groups, but the conclusion showed no issues and his various indicators were very healthy.

He mentioned it to his father once, but his father didn’t accept such a reason for him to retire, so Yu Mingyi stopped talking about it.

He was engaged in high-precision flight operations, and any issue could lead to unthinkable consequences. Initially, he thought the dreams didn’t matter, but lately, every time he sat in the cockpit, he felt uneasy, and even taking time off didn’t help.

”Qian is right, you’re someone with the power to resist psychological therapy...” Dong Yi looked at her uncle with heartfelt concern.

She really wanted to help him and hated herself for not having Qian’s capability. If only Qian were here...

”Dong Yi, don’t cry, I’m fine.” Yu Mingyi saw her crying, reached out to wipe her tears, but felt it was inappropriate when his fingers touched her face.

He withdrew his hand, and Dong Yi stopped crying, her heart racing a bit.

Meanwhile, outside the door, Mrs. Yu had long been sobbing uncontrollably, covering her mouth, she couldn’t believe that her obedient second son was bearing such pressure.

Mrs. Yu couldn’t stay there any longer. She turned and walked out, found a place to calm down, and thought of calling Liu Linlin, but decided it wasn’t appropriate.

The second son held an important position, some things can’t be spoken carelessly, even to old friends, they can’t be fully trusted. Mrs. Yu walked out, both self-blaming and sad, needing somewhere to calm her emotions.

Qian got off the taxi with her bags, saw Mrs. Yu walking gloomily towards her, and didn’t notice Qian, clearly preoccupied.

”Auntie!” Qian called out to her.

”It’s Qian, isn’t it? Didn’t you go home?” Mrs. Yu came to her senses upon seeing Qian.

”Yes, I just got back. Since Dong Yi is here, I thought it’s about time it ended, so I came to escort her back to school. Auntie, what’s wrong? Are you unhappy?”

”It’s nothing—your family is doing quite well, right?” Mrs. Yu asked.

Qian thought of the reason Jia Xiufang made her return home, feeling a bit amused.

”It’s fine, really good. My mom asked me home to eat some comforting noodles.”

Jia Xiufang’s so-called urgent matter was actually funny.

Apparently, Qu Xue and Chen Lin got into a fight, it seemed Qu Xue faked a pregnancy which Chen Lin exposed. Unable to get house ownership, in anger she brought her brothers to beat Chen Lin. Chen Lin was already upset from the beating, and someone reported his mahjong, almost getting him detained. Unable to afford a meal, he went to the fourth uncle’s house to borrow money.

By chance, Jia Xiufang was at the fourth uncle’s delivering dumplings to grandma and encountered Chen Lin. When Chen Lin kneeled, begging Jia Xiufang, she ignored him and afterward, thinking of his pathetic state, felt justice was served as evil saw retribution. So she called her daughter, asking Qian to come home for comforting noodles.

”What’s so heavy in your hands?” Mrs. Yu noticed the heavy bags Qian was carrying, wanting to help her.

”It’s homemade shrimp paste and cured meat from my mom, she insisted I bring them for you all.” Jia Xiufang knew her daughter received so much food from Yu Minglang’s mother, so prepared some homemade specialties to return the gesture.

Nothing expensive, knowing they don’t lack such things, just to express goodwill.

”Thank your mother for the effort.” Mrs. Yu smiled slightly.

”Auntie, do you have something on your mind? How about we go sit at the ice cream shop up front?” Qian noticed Mrs. Yu’s bad state.

Mrs. Yu quite liked Qian’s perceptiveness but felt a bit improper as an elder. Her worries about the second son caused emotional leakage, and since Qian brought specialties from her house, her face wasn’t good either. If it were someone like Wang Xiaohong, they’d surely think she was discontent with the gifts.

Fortunately, Qian was a sensible child, not picking on this.

”Alright, let’s sit awhile then.” Mrs. Yu didn’t want to go back. After hearing what Yu Mingyi said, she didn’t know how to face the second son.

At the ice cream shop, Qian found a convenient place to talk, ordered two drinks.

Seeing Mrs. Yu didn’t want to talk, she considered what would trouble Mrs. Yu. This was second brother’s territory, and since Mrs. Yu didn’t want to go back, it must be related to him, so she began the conversation.

”Actually, it’s quite embarrassing to say, but although you’re an intellectual with higher education, sometimes I think you’re much like my mom.”

”Oh? In what way?”

”Every time I go home, my mom busily prepares all sorts of things, just like you, Auntie. You come every week, working tirelessly for the second brother. They are lucky to have a mother like you.”

Mrs. Yu sighed, her eyes red as Qian looked on.

”As parents, we wish to cover every detail, but ultimately, who knows what the children truly think.”

Mrs. Yu unintentionally let out her genuine feelings.

Qian adjusted her glasses, immediately understanding the need to play ignorant now.

”Is something wrong with your friend’s family causing you this worry?”

”Yes, sort of.”

”Actually, from a psychology perspective, this is quite normal. Just like extending a hand, each finger has varying lengths, more so when a family has many children. Parents think they treat them equally, but children definitely perceive favoritism.”

While Qian spoke, she gauged Mrs. Yu’s expression, noticing her sadness. If it concerned the second brother, her focus should remain there.
