Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 172: Chapter 171: Late Night on the Rooftop

Watching Dong Yi walk upstairs, Shi Yu wanted to follow, but Chen Xiaoqian pulled her back.

The school dormitory was a horseshoe-shaped building. Standing in the courtyard, looking upstairs, after a while, a giant mechanical cat appeared on top of the building.

”Oh my god! You really predicted it! Waaaa, I’m scared to death, a floating mechanical cat!”

Shi Yu gasped in fear and the crucifix in her mouth fell out.

”I should’ve brought something from the Sun God, can the Bible and garlic work against a mechanical cat, ahhh!!”

Chen Xiaoqian squinted for a long time, nudged Shi Yu, ”Take a good look, what floating mechanical cat!”

”I don’t want to look, I’m scared to death—what should I do, Dong Yi went up, should I rescue her...” Shi Yu was overwhelmed with fear and still thinking about her roommate’s matter. With a gritted tooth, she hugged the Bible and dashed upwards, ”I’ll fight that blue fatty!”

Chen Xiaoqian couldn’t help but pull her back, pressing down her head to make her look clearly.

”Look carefully, that’s Dong Yi.”

”Dong Yi?” Shi Yu widened her eyes, ”The blue fatty possessed Dong Yi?”

”...The light flickered, you can only see the brightly colored part, look carefully!”

Shi Yu gathered courage to look carefully, but she was still startled.

At first glance, it really seemed like a floating blue fatty, but if you looked closely, it was indeed a person, wearing a hooded pajamas, with the cartoon hood down, looking like a floating cartoon.

The angle was terrifying, Dong Yi was sitting on the rooftop, her legs dangling down, a small mistake and she would fall down!

”Oh my god! What’s Dong Yi doing!!” Shi Yu couldn’t wait anymore, but Chen Xiaoqian just shook her head.

”Wait a while, if we go now, it might make her fall.”

”I’m scared to death, what should we do, Qian? Should we call the fire brigade!” Shi Yu saw her friend from the upper bunk—though Dong Yi was always lukewarm to her, she considered her a friend. Seeing a friend sitting so dangerously, she was really scared.

Tears rolled down.

Chen Xiaoqian reached out, wiped the tears from the sentimental and kind-hearted girl, speaking like an elder.

”Don’t be afraid, don’t cry when faced with a problem, think about what to do, because once you cry, you’ll lose calm judgment. I’ve observed, there’s a large platform up there, it looks small from here but actually over a meter, and there’s a metal frame blocking it, so you see her legs dangling but actually hanging from the frame, which is 30 centimeters high, though it’s thin, Dong Yi isn’t heavy, as long as she doesn’t jump, there won’t be a problem.”

”What do we do, Qian!” Shi Yu was more distraught than if she saw a ghost, tears wouldn’t stop.

”Dong Yi isn’t sleepwalking for the first time, nothing happened before, it should be okay this time too, don’t panic, the timing should be right, we go up, I’ll handle it.”

Shi Yu was liked by Chen Xiaoqian because this child was full of life, though a bit naive and unaware of life’s troubles, she was kind and righteous, with the pure personality typical of her age, Chen Xiaoqian saw her like a younger sibling.

The two held hands up the stairs, Shi Yu didn’t see Dong Yi, scared to the point of covering her mouth crying, lips trembling, Chen Xiaoqian felt the coolness in her hand.

”Qian... she didn’t fall, did she?”

Shi Yu leaned on the railing, looking down, seeing nothing.

”No, let’s look for her.”

Chen Xiaoqian remained calm, leading Shi Yu to search around the rooftop, just as other students said, seeing something floating, but gone when approached.

Chen Xiaoqian searched back and forth, finally, in a corner of the rooftop, found Dong Yi sitting hugging her knees, this angle was a blind spot, no one could see her.

That’s why previous sleepwalking scared other students.

Dong Yi’s eyes were half-open, looking blankly ahead, occasionally muttering a few words nobody understood.

”Qian, what should we do now!” Seeing Dong Yi unharmed, Shi Yu felt relieved a bit, but seeing her like this, didn’t know how to handle it.

”Sleepwalking loses connection with the surrounding environment, she’s now living in a private world. Her current behavior signifies her repressed painful experiences symbolically coming back, after sleepwalking she’d know nothing about it.”

Chen Xiaoqian spoke while thinking.

What did Dong Yi experience that made her feel so repressed and painful, needing to recreate it from such a height?

”What exactly should we do!” Shi Yu couldn’t understand the psychological concepts.

”There are three treatments for sleepwalking, though I’m not sure which fits her, I’ll start with aversion therapy first, since sleepwalking is a symbolic compensation of one’s psyche for painful experiences, we need to make her detest this compensation, so aversion therapy means waking her up to interrupt the compensation.”

”But my mom said waking up a sleepwalker kills them!” Shi Yu was terrified.

Chen Xiaoqian glanced at her, ”Is your mom a psychologist or am I?”

She had handled many cases like this, curing plenty of people, she had confidence.

”Alright, you do it, be careful, don’t kill my Dong Yi...” Shi Yu was very anxious.

Chen Xiaoqian nudged Dong Yi, ”Dong Yi, wake up.”

After nudging for a while, Dong Yi still didn’t wake, eyes only half-open.

”Qian, didn’t someone take her soul away?” Shi Yu, frightened, hung her garlic necklace on Dong Yi’s neck, pushed a Bible into her arms.

”Shi Tou, you’re a college student, stop being so superstitious!” Chen Xiaoqian glared at her, continued explaining, ”Many people mistakenly think sleepwalking occurs when lightly asleep, but the truth is, it happens during deep sleep, she’s now in the deepest sleep, very hard to wake.”

A lot of things aren’t scary when approached scientifically.

Chen Xiaoqian called several times, Dong Yi finally woke, saw Chen Xiaoqian and Shi Yu, eyes somewhat confused.

”Am I dreaming?”

Shi Yu saw her speak, suddenly hugged Dong Yi, sobbing.

”Dong Yi, you scared me to death!”

Shi Yu’s tears fell on Dong Yi’s shoulder, Dong Yi felt this wasn’t a dream, with flashlight-holding Chen Xiaoqian, and Shi Touyu crying in her arms.

”Why am I here?” She looked up, took in the unfamiliar environment, the night wind blew, her thin pajamas couldn’t keep her warm.

”You sleepwalked, Qian woke you up, Dong Yi, you scared me to death!” Shi Yu held Dong Yi’s hand tightly, afraid to let go and find no pulse.

Though Qian explained scientifically, Shi Yu remembered her mom’s old sayings, still feeling scared.

”I? Sleepwalking? How is that possible?” Dong Yi was astonished.
