Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 190: Chapter 190: A New Job

Qian tried hard to be sentimental, just about to say if you want to repay the kindness, join the psychology intervention team at the unit and provide psychological counseling, then she switched gears.

”You should marry a blue sky eagle, have a bunch of kids all flying in the sky, and that would count as the crane repaying the favor.”

This was her apprentice she trained personally, with no consultation fee charged, and she must trick them into starting a studio with her in the future. Qian slyly turned the conversation.

No one knew what happened during the two days Qian took Dong Yi out, but everyone could feel that Dong Yi, who returned after circling around with Qian, had changed somewhat.

She began making an effort to integrate into the group, no longer maintaining a detached attitude towards everyone, and occasionally even took the initiative to chat with familiar people like Shi Touyu, which shocked Shi Touyu a lot.

Shi Touyu exclaimed that Qian was too mighty, feeling Dong Yi was forcibly pulled out of an enclosed world by Qian.

Dong Yi’s sleepwalking symptoms never recurred, and the legend of supernatural campus floating events had no follow-ups. Qian compiled the case notes and took them to show Mr. Liu. After Mr. Liu reviewed them, he said nothing, just put them aside and continued with her work.

Qian was waiting for praise, but the person ignored her.

”What’s up, still standing here and not leaving, waiting for me to praise you?” Mr. Liu glanced at Qian, who blinked her eyes.

Mr. Liu, with a stern face, picked up the case notes written by Qian and asked her, ”You actually treated a patient with such unverified and unknown-side-effect methods. I’m not critiquing you because you managed to cure the person, offsetting your mistakes, yet you dare to shamelessly ask for praise?”

She was referring to Qian’s use of a mixture of essential oils and alcohol. Occasionally, Qian was indiscriminate in her means for curing people, resorting to any trickery or deceit.

”I wouldn’t do things I’m uncertain about. I was sure this wouldn’t cause trouble, and then—”

”It’s too late once trouble occurs. This shall not be repeated!”

That old lady, disliked even in a previous life, remained the same in this life. Qian pursed her lips inwardly, ready to leave.

”Come back, every Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, you come here to me.”

”Why? Professor, I’m only a freshman, I’m not even your student yet. You can’t exploit my labor force and deprive my surplus value.” Qian’s heart skipped a beat, sensing something amiss.

In a past life, the teacher also said similar things, and then Qian helped her compile case notes and sometimes even accompanied the professor for free treatments. Her teacher was quite self-sacrificing, always performing unpaid volunteer work, and it was unclear what she sought from it.

Mr. Liu smacked the table at Qian’s words, ”Do you think I enjoy your company so much? It’s all because your mother-in-law instructed me to take care of you a little more.”

”Not married yet, can only call her prospective mother-in-law...” Qian was dispirited.

”And this matter is related to the Yu Family too; you’re responsible for a part, which you ought to be.”

”What?” Qian straightened her face, wondering how it’s related to the Yu Family?

”The child with childhood anxiety will come every week for treatment. If I’m unavailable, you’ll play with the child.”

Psychological treatment for such young children primarily involves playful therapy, requiring parental cooperation too.

Mr. Liu contemplated and thought it suitable for the child to come over every weekend; his father, Yu Mingyi, could also take some time to accompany the child, given the short distance between the locations, frequently fostering a fondness for the father, which aids the child’s condition.

”Professor, I genuinely can’t manage it, I have no dealings with children.” Qian thought to herself she was still a compulsive hand-washer, where would she find the leisure to play with children?

”That’s settled. What’s with that expression? Do you think my skills are shared with just anyone? Some treatment plans I’ve recently developed are unprecedented domestically; learning them without tuition fees, all on account of your mother-in-law.”

”Prospective mother-in-law...”

”Go out and close the door.”

After Qian went out, Liu Linlin picked up her teacup, clutching Qian’s report to read.

Though the treatment methods were somewhat aggressive, the results were indeed excellent, Qi was quite fortunate to have found such a perceptive daughter-in-law.

Returning to her dorm room, Qian felt downcast, thinking she’d never be well again.

It wasn’t that she was unwilling to babysit for second brother, but thinking of Mr. Liu’s treatments, she anticipated that the child therapy mostly involved parent-child games, considering having to babysit alongside second brother’s stony face made Qian feel uncomfortable.

If he weren’t Yu Minglang’s brother, she’d have just treated him as a regular patient, but he happened to resemble her Little Strong, making the situation awkward indeed...

When she returned to her dorm, she heard Dong Yi chatting with Shi Yu.

”It makes me so mad.”

Hmm? It’s not Shi Touyu saying this, but Dong Yi? It was rare for Qian to hear Dong Yi expressing emotions.

”What’s wrong?” Qian asked.

In the dorm room, Dong Yi and Shi Yu were sitting on the same bed, Dong Yi was venting anger by slamming Shi Yu’s pillow.

”Didn’t you work as a tutor during freshman year? That child made her angry.” Shi Yu was comforting Dong Yi.

Although Dong Yi resolved her betrothal crisis with Yu Mingyi’s help, she hadn’t quit tutoring, still teaching every week to earn some living expenses.

The child she taught was a ten-year-old boy. Dong Yi had agreed to teach him for two hours, but upon her arrival, the child took a comic book to the bathroom and stayed there for almost two hours before coming out. When Dong Yi educated him, he pointed at Dong Yi, saying his dad paid her, and to take the money and leave quickly without nagging.

”Today’s kids! How can they act like this? The two-hour tutoring fee was also earned by the parents’ hard work!” Dong Yi grieved.

Being a frugal kid herself, even buying discounted pajamas, she couldn’t stand such actions, especially the child’s attitude, which was infuriating, as it lacked respect for people and appreciation for parents.

”Did you accept the money?” Qian asked.

Dong Yi nodded, ”I got it at the beginning of the month. I called the parents, and he said—”

”You don’t need to go anymore, right?”

”How did you know?!”

Qian pushed her glasses up, ”Like father, like son. That brat must have complained to his father, saying you’re not teaching well. His parents unconditionally pamper him, definitely pushing the blame on you. To such parents, the whole world is wrong, and their exceptional son can’t be wrong.”

”How are such children educated? It’s infuriating, wasting money.” Dong Yi was still brooding over the extravagance. Qian suddenly brightened up.

Right, how could she forget about freshman year!

”Dong Yi, are you still looking for a part-time job?”

”Yes, indeed.”

”You’re seeking part-time jobs to repay the kind people’s money, right?”

”That’s right.”

”Well, here’s a job without pay, but it can help repay your benefactors indirectly. Will you do it? It also involves babysitting! This kid is guaranteed to be better than the one you taught!”
