Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 192: Chapter 192: Iceberg Selling His Brother (Birthday + Extra)

Seeing Qian and Dong Yi, the second brother immediately thought that Dong Yi still needed help.

”It’s fine, second brother, Yi is much better now, she doesn’t sleepwalk anymore. I brought her here because I think it would be beneficial for her to interact with Panpan more.”

Sometimes psychologists gather patients with different issues together for something like an outdoor survival training, using the complementarity of their conditions to achieve good results.

As Qian said this, Yu Mingyi remembered—right, Dong Yi studied psychology too.

”Then I’ll leave it to you guys.”

”No need to be so polite, this is our job, isn’t it, Yi? Yi?”

Qian noticed Dong Yi staring at the second brother as if she were a bit dazed, so she nudged her. What’s up, Yi?

Qian called Dong Yi twice before she snapped back to reality, her face still a bit flushed, looking somewhat out of sorts.

”What’s wrong, Yi?” Qian asked.

”Nothing.” Dong Yi collected herself.

The way my little uncle holds the child, it’s so warm.

It was as if something in her heart had been softly touched.

Yu Mingyi was a bit shorter than Yu Minglang, but still around 180 cm, a very robust man. Yet he held the small child in his arms so gently, this contrast struck Dong Yi in a peculiar way, making her see him differently altogether.

She quickly turned her gaze away.

”Let’s start the therapy now. Er Zhuzi, you hold the child. Qian and Dong Yi, you two follow me to record—what are you two looking at?” Professor Liu saw Qian and Dong Yi both staring wide-eyed.

”Professor, did you just call my second brother what? Did I just hear something incredible?”

”Er Zhuzi, he was a bit dopey as a kid, like a pillar, so everyone gave him the nickname Er Zhuzi.” Liu Linlin explained.

Yu Mingyi was a bit exasperated, ”Aunt Liu, nobody else did that, it was you who came up with it, right?”

This always stern-faced old lady had a penchant for giving people ridiculous nicknames, often quite embarrassing ones.

”If the second brother is called Er Zhuzi... does that mean the older brother is Da Zhuzi?” Qian found it hard to associate these names with the Yu family’s kids.

”Chunky, Er Zhuzi, Sanya Dan—” Liu Linlin continued, but stopped suddenly when she noticed Qian’s overly curious eyes.

Qian was just about to hear what she most wanted to know and was straining her neck waiting for the answer.

But Mr. Liu just gave a meaningful look at Qian and smirked.

”Everyone get ready for the treatment session now.”

Geez! Getting people’s hopes up and then stopping, how mean!

Qian felt like her heart was being scratched by a cat’s paw, her curiosity unbearable.

What kind of nickname does Yu Minglang have?

This riddle wasn’t solved even after the treatment session ended.

The therapy for the baby focused on parent-child interaction, since the child was so young, the second brother had to help them through many things. Compared to other kids, Panpan developed a bit later and didn’t seem as lively, a bit wooden, but the second brother was very patient.

Sometimes he had to repeat things several times, which was very unlike his usual cool demeanor. Towards the end of the treatment, Panpan accidentally wet his pants and peed all over the second brother.

As if he realized he had made a mistake, Panpan first looked at the second brother’s expression, and seeing that dad didn’t seem angry, he then started bawling.

”I’ll change Panpan’s pants, you go change your clothes, little uncle.” Dong Yi took the child and cleaned him up skillfully.

Qian was impressed watching her—she handled it all like a pro, even more swiftly than her, who was a mom.

”Yi, have you taken care of kids before?”

”Yes, when I was back at home, I often helped take care of them. There were a lot of kids at home.” Growing up at her uncle’s place, Dong Yi couldn’t just stay and not contribute; she had to help with the kids and household chores.

”But what about school—oh, I get it, your nearsightedness must have come from this, right?”

Qian immediately thought that Dong Yi was probably going to school during the day and helping with chores and babysitting at night, then doing homework late with dim lights—a mature and sensible child.

They were chatting outside, and Yu Mingyi could hear them while he changed clothes. It seemed Dong Yi had grown up in quite a tough environment.

He inadvertently thought of his ex-wife.

Wang Xiaohong also seemed to have come from a family with poor conditions and many kids; she often helped with them. Mr. Yu consulted a psychologist once—though they didn’t seem very professional—the suggestion was for Wang Xiaohong to invest emotionally, preferably raising a child for emotional sustenance.

However, it seemed Panpan’s arrival not only failed to improve Wang Xiaohong’s condition but instead intensified conflicts between Wang Xiaohong and Yu Mingyi, becoming the catalyst for their marriage breaking down.

”Yi, taking care of kids is tough. Do you have any bad feelings about it, like really disliking children? If you have such concerns, I won’t bring you along next time.”

Qian was serious. When she first considered bringing Yi over, she hadn’t known about Dong Yi’s past. Usually, childhood experiences like that can lead to an instinctive dislike of children as adults. If Dong Yi really felt aversion toward children, Qian would rescind her decision to bring her along and go by herself.

Yu Mingyi, having finished changing, almost had his hand on the handrail when he heard Qian asking Dong Yi if she disliked kids, and paused.

”Not at all, I really like children.” Dong Yi changed Panpan’s pants, and even when the kid kicked her face, she didn’t get angry; she tickled Panpan’s feet a bit, making him giggle.

Yu Mingyi had almost never heard his son laugh. Hearing Panpan laugh made him feel reassured to push the door open.

”Aunt Liu, stay for a meal.”

”No need, I still have patients to see. I’ll drive myself over, you can treat these two kids and then send them back to the dorm.”

Professor Liu finished talking and left.

Dong Yi didn’t want Yu Mingyi to spend unnecessarily, pulling Qian to say they had something at school, and while Yu Mingyi intended to send them off, Panpan yawned as if he was sleepy.

”I’ll call you a car.” Yu Mingyi couldn’t leave, as Mrs. Yu was out shopping, and since his son needed to sleep, he had to call a car.

”No need to trouble yourself, little uncle, we’ll go out on our own.” Dong Yi tried to reach for the door, but Qian held her back.

”Second brother, what nickname did the professor give Yu Minglang when he was young?”

Mr. Yu, the ice-cold cool guy, clearly wasn’t fond of gossip.

”Yi, let’s have some dignity, and walk out ourselves, not troubling your little uncle.” Qian cunningly threatened, leading Mr. Yu to finally speak.

”Yu Gangdan.”
