Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 194: Chapter 194: The New Roommate

”Life is full of encounters.” Chen Xiaoqian suddenly realized, ”Don’t tell me, you are the fourth roommate who has been missing all this time?!”

”If this is room 4444, then I am your new roommate. Hi, ladies, nice to meet you!”

Dong Yi was already frozen like a wooden chicken.

Shi Yu’s eyes widened, ”What’s the school doing? Why do we have to share a dorm with a man?”

Xiao Miqiu shrugged, ”I’m sorry too. I originally wanted to go to the men’s dorm, but the school was adamant about not allowing it. I don’t want to share a room with women either.”

”Why should we?! I’m going to protest with the dorm manager when did we start following the Western trend of co-ed dorms, me a pure maiden, doesn’t want to be ogled at!” Shi Yu angrily started to storm out, but Chen Xiaoqian stopped her.

”No need to go. She is a woman—at least physically, a woman.”

”A woman?!”

Shi Yu’s face was full of an expression that said, ”You must be joking.”

”Psychologist Chen Xiaoqian, did you know this from the first time you met me?” Xiao Miqiu asked Chen Xiaoqian.

”If I couldn’t see that, how could I dare call myself a psychologist?” Chen Xiaoqian didn’t expect that someone with gender identity disorder would be her roommate.

”Woman, you’ve successfully piqued my interest. Would you consider dating me?” Xiao Miqiu, taking advantage of her height, trapped Chen Xiaoqian between the bed boards.

Shi Yu and Dong Yi both had expressions of incomprehension, can women flirt with women too?

Chen Xiaoqian calmly kicked Xiao Miqiu away, ”I won’t consider it. I have a boyfriend.”

”Well, how should we address you?” Shi Yu wondered, looking at this person who seemed like a man no matter how you looked at them, but Qian said they were a woman?

”Call me Qiuqiu. I have the heart of a man, just treat me as a man. If you need to carry mineral water or change a light bulb, just call me.”

”But... are you really going to be with us...” Dong Yi was still organizing her words. What do you call this, a dorm story of one man and three women? It sounds a bit strange.

”My ID states I’m a woman. I can’t help it. The school is too old-fashioned, just forcing me over here. But don’t worry. I usually don’t stay in the dorm, just inform me when there’s a check, I’ll come back to pose, and won’t cause you any trouble.”

Even Qiuqiu felt awkward staying in a room with three women.

”Ladies, to celebrate our dorm camaraderie, I’m treating you to dinner tonight. Would you do me the honor?” Xiao Miqiu finished organizing her bed and made a gentleman’s invitation to them.

”I’m not going.” Dong Yi wanted to read, and Shi Yu felt a bit awkward, not knowing how to interact with him. Chen Xiaoqian brought one arm around each of them.

”Based on my judgment of him, this guy must have worked a lot of odd jobs and has some savings in his pocket. We don’t have to go too hard on him, just going to the night market for barbecue is enough.”

”Haha, lady, you even know I work part-time?” Xiao Miqiu laughed heartily.

”I not only know that you work hard at part-time jobs, but I also know what you are earning money for. Let’s go, youngsters.”

Chen Xiaoqian pushed everyone out. Xiao Miqiu was still contemplating what Chen Xiaoqian said. Does she know what I’m doing?

Such an amazing person...

Shi Yu looked at Xiao Miqiu walking in front of them, nervously tugging at Chen Xiaoqian’s sleeve, whispering, ”Qian... why do I kinda lose my sense of how to interact?”

Not knowing how to interact with such a person, feeling that whatever she says feels off.

”Just treat her as an ordinary person. However you are with us, be the same with him. In the future, things like changing light bulbs, taking out the garbage, carrying water buckets, let him do it.”

”But... should we consider him a man or a woman?”

”Treat him as a man, respect his choice. Even if you don’t agree, don’t ridicule, just understand.” Chen Xiaoqian spoke very softly, not knowing if Xiao Miqiu heard.

Xiao Miqiu is majoring in physical education, a field with very few female students. The school had no choice but to place her in Chen Xiaoqian’s dorm. The reason she hadn’t reported at the start of the term was because she was hospitalized, the reason being—

”My dad broke my leg.”

At the night market’s barbecue stall, Xiao Miqiu was chatting with Chen Xiaoqian and the others. There was a bottle of beer in front of her, and her sitting posture was a standard male one.

”Why, that’s too harsh, isn’t it?” Shi Yu, persuaded by Chen Xiaoqian, tried to see Xiao Miqiu as a normal person. If not looking with prejudice, he seemed just like an ordinary young man.

”Why else, just because I refused to wear a dress and kept my hair this way. He said I was a hooligan, a pervert, a homosexual.” These two words have stuck with her since childhood, so much she’s used to them.

”Not a homosexual, not a pervert, but gender identity disorder.” Chen Xiaoqian seriously corrected.

There’s a clear distinction between these terms. Xiao Miqiu is not a cross-dresser or a homosexual; she genuinely believes she is a man.

”Qian, can you treat her?” Shi Yu whispered to Chen Xiaoqian while Xiao Miqiu went to order food. Xiao Miqiu was talking with the single-eyelid barbecue stall owner, even handing him a cigarette, looking very street-smart.

”No need to treat, maintaining the status quo is fine. As long as those of us close to her don’t look at her with different eyes, that’s the biggest help.”

At Xiao Miqiu’s stage, a psychologist is no longer useful.

The only thing that can be done is to reduce discrimination and increase understanding. As long as she doesn’t do anything harmful to society, treat her like a normal person.

”I don’t quite understand...” Dong Yi watched as Xiao Miqiu and the barbecue stall owner each had a cigarette, discussing topics typical for guys. This was a type of person she’d never encountered.

”Sometimes heaven plays particularly cruel jokes, making some people different from us. Humans have a herd mentality. When seeing someone different, they feel repulsed. Some even feel disgusted. Yet no one considers that they don’t want to be like this, and what right do we have to be disgusted by someone who hasn’t harmed us, just because they are different? Who’s really wrong?”

Chen Xiaoqian’s words made the other two girls thoughtful. Although the concept is quite advanced, they listened carefully because it was Qian speaking.

By the time Xiao Miqiu returned, Dong Yi and Shi Yu were no longer as restrained. Following Chen Xiaoqian’s suggestion, they interacted with him as if he were an ordinary boy, finding him quite easy to talk to. As long as he didn’t reveal it himself, no one could tell he wasn’t a man.

After eating, Xiao Miqiu escorted them back to the dorm. He rented a place outside, not living with his roommates. The dorm was just in name only.

At the school gate, as Chen Xiaoqian and Shi Touyu went into the supermarket to buy things, Dong Yi and Xiao Miqiu waited outside the school for them.

It was already November, and a leaf fell into Dong Yi’s hair.

”Don’t move.”
