The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 48: Chapter 48 Tao Shen Angers His Parents

Tao Shen returned home and saw his parents getting ready to go out. Upon asking, he learned that they were going to the mountains to pick up Tao Ti and let out a snort.

“She hasn’t been in the mountains for a long time, she’s been living at her agent’s place since she switched companies.”

“What identity will you use to meet her now? Introduce yourselves as her parents as soon as you see her? Or present a DNA test to prove your identities and try to take her away from her agent? Stop dreaming!”

Liu Mingzhu, driven by a mix of anger and shame, snapped, “Don’t you want us to bring your sister back?”

Tao Shen’s eyes drooped, and without looking at her, his figure seemed enveloped in shadows, his voice haunting, “When she was being bossed around and berated by that woman in the mountains, where were you? When she was taken away by the ruthless company, practicing dance day and night, so tired she couldn’t even sleep, where were you? When she was slandered and maligned by netizens, where were you?”

“I…” Liu Mingzhu opened her mouth to say something but found her throat tightening, unable to utter a single word in defense.

...

“The police have already arrested that couple, she has left the mountains. The ruthless company has been shut down, she has been transferred. All the negative press online has been cleared, no one is slandering her anymore.” Tao Shen laughed derisively, “We failed to appear when we should have, what face do we have now to appear before her and disrupt her current life?”

Every word from Tao Shen pierced Liu Mingzhu’s heart like a series of sharp knives.

She knew her son was blaming her, blaming her for not taking Tao Ti back sooner.

But her emotional state had been very poor at the time, she had been taking medication for a mental illness for years, she knew better than anyone she couldn’t meet her daughter in that condition.

Liu Mingzhu’s body stiffened, unsure what to do, unable to even cry, her hands started to go numb, her body began trembling uncontrollably, the shaking becoming more and more severe.

Tao Tiancheng noticed her condition and quickly picked her up, giving Tao Shen a cold look, “This isn’t your mother’s fault. It’s my responsibility for not noticing the malicious baby-switching back then.”

He carried his wife back to the room and let her take her medicine and rest.

“…I want to go pick up my daughter.”

Tao Tiancheng shook his head, “Your condition isn’t looking good right now, do you want to scare the child?”

Liu Mingzhu’s eyelids grew heavier and she fell asleep under the influence of the medications.

Gently closing the door, Tao Tiancheng, with a stern face, walked into the living room. Seeing Tao Shen sitting on the sofa, he walked up and gave him a fierce punch.

Tao Shen clutched his stomach, defiantly glaring at Tao Tiancheng, he did not believe he was wrong.

“Ever since Tao Ti was born, your mother has been seeing a psychologist, without ever stopping.”

At these words, surprise flashed across Tao Shen’s eyes, incredulous he asked, “How is that possible, how could I never know?”

“I didn’t know either,” Tao Tiancheng said wearily as he sat on the sofa, his whole person exhausted and haggard, “She kept it hidden from us. She realized something was wrong the first time she held the baby, but mistook it for postpartum depression, saw many doctors, but the illness never improved. She’s taken a lot of medication, and those medications can make a healthy person sick; she is not doing well.”

“I’m sorry… I had no idea, I really had no idea…”

Overcome with guilt, Tao Shen didn’t know his mother was ill, and if he had known, he wouldn’t have upset her, especially not going out of his way to provoke her.

Tao Tiancheng, covering his swelling eyes, said gravely, “I know someone was investigating Zhang Cuilian and them, I provided the evidence and data that led to their arrest. I’ve also paid online troops to help clear her name. I investigated Cheng Guodong and Qin Xin’s backgrounds, knew they wouldn’t harm your sister, which is why I didn’t pick her up immediately. I was waiting for your mother to stabilize her emotions so we could go together, but now you’ve ruined everything.”
