Dragon Monarch System

Chapter 980: Chapter 980:- Treasure Collecting Hobby

Aditya always felt that runes were one of the most interesting and most unexplored concepts in this world.

Interesting, because runes could essentially work like machines from his previous world. And unexplored, because no one truly understood their full potential.

In his previous world, machines required complex systems to function. They needed circuits, chips, energy sources, and precise engineering. Without those components, even the most advanced machine would be nothing more than useless metal.

But in this world, runes could do all of that.

A single rune, properly designed and engraved, could control energy flow, stabilise power output, enhance physical strength, or even automate certain functions. It did not need wires. It did not need mechanical parts. It only needed proper structure, mana, and understanding.

To Aditya, runes were like invisible machines made of pure knowledge.

And yet, despite their incredible potential, so much about runes remained unknown. This was what made them unexplored.

In contrast, cultivation was completely different.

Cultivation was something everyone understood. It was open. It was researched. It was taught across every empire, every academy, every family with even a little power. Cultivation had existed since the birth of this planet. Generations after generations had improved and refined it, passing down their knowledge.

There were countless manuals, techniques, and teachers and sects for cultivation.

But runes did not have that same level of understanding.

Runes could be considered a branch born from cultivation itself, since runemasters needed mana control and a deep understanding to comprehend and create proper rune structures. But unlike cultivation, rune mastery required something more.

It needed talent, Patience, and extreme mental focus. Not everyone had those qualities. And even if someone were talented enough, that person might not have the patience. And even if someone had talent and patience, Practicing Runes just like alchemy was a money-burning game. Especially at the starting level, one needed to pour money out of his or her own pocket.

Most people did not have the resources, time, or ability to devote themselves to studying runes. Even empires, with their vast resources, struggled to produce powerful runemasters.

Empires would spend decades nurturing one hundred rune apprentices.

These apprentices would spend years just learning basic rune symbols. They practised drawing runes thousands of times, engraving them on metal, stone, and special materials. Many of them would fail before even becoming a 1-star runemaster.

Among those hundred apprentices, only a small fraction would become 2-star runemasters.

And only around 0.1% had the talent to comprehend 3-star runes and actually become a true 3-star runemaster in their lifetime.

The difficulty was simply too great. Not to mention, the decades upon decades of time that one needed to continue practice and the Empire that is investing needed to wait.

Runes could not be mastered through effort alone. Understanding rune structure required imagination, logic, and deep comprehension of mana flow.

Aditya himself spent many hours studying runes.

He would sit alone in a quiet room, surrounded by rune notes, metal plates, and engraving tools. Sometimes he practised drawing rune patterns repeatedly, making sure each line was perfect. Other times, he experimented by combining different rune structures, observing how the mana reacted.

Sometimes the rune would stabilise perfectly. Other times, it would collapse and disappear.

Every failure taught him something new.

Because of his memories from his previous modern world, Aditya saw runes differently.

To him, the usage of runes in this world was extremely undermined. And honestly, very underwhelming.

Most people lacked imagination. Or maybe he had a better imagination than the people of this world because he comes from a world that is very imaginative and expressive of people’s arts and creation.

They only used runes in the most basic ways.

Almost everyone believed that runes existed only to enchant weapons and armour, or to create artefacts. They engraved runes on swords to make them sharper. They engraved runes on armour to make it stronger or more durable.

While this was useful, Aditya knew this was only the beginning.

He knew and believed that Runes could do much more.

They could automate defences. They could stabilise entire structures.

They could improve energy efficiency.

They could power systems without needing constant mana input.

In his previous world, machines formed the foundation of civilisation. And in this world, runes could serve that same role.

No!

They could serve an even greater role.

In Aditya’s opinion, the true foundation of a powerful kingdom or empire did not rely only on soldiers, generals, or cultivators.

It relied on runemasters and alchemists. Runemasters could create the systems that made everything stronger and more efficient. Alchemists could create resources, pills, and materials that supported cultivation and growth.

Together, they formed the backbone of long-term power.

An empire with strong warriors could win battles. But an empire with powerful runemasters and alchemists could win the future itself.

Scene Change_____

While Aditya was immersed in studying the notes of a 5-star runemaster, someone sneakily entered the office without any noise. As the Goddess of Music, she could obviously do little thing was enter his office without making any noise.

When she placed her hand on his shoulder, Aditya was startled.

Seeing his startled face, she couldn’t help but smile. She had never seen that kind of startled look on his face before. It was very funny and something that she would love to try again in the future.

”It’s you!” Aditya relaxed seeing her.

”When did you come in?” He was so absorbed in studying runes that he did not feel her presence when she entered his office. It was impossible for him to be on his guard all the time.

The Dragon Palace was his home. He always felt relaxed and peaceful inside the Dragon Palace. And inside the Palace, he was nearly invincible. There was no need for him to be on his guard.

Not to mention, no one could infiltrate inside the Dragon Palace. It was truly a safe haven for him and his family.

”What are you doing?” Rin asked as she sat beside him. But before she could sit down, he grabbed her by her waist and made her sit on his lap. Rin had to place her right hand on his shoulder to stabilise herself.

On the table, she saw many papers with various kinds of runic languages written on them. To her, everything was very foreign. Just looking at the runes with concentration for a few seconds made her feel dizzy.

”How do you even learn this?” She looked into his deep blue eyes.

Aditya replied with a smirk.

”I am a genius.”

”I am so good at whatever things I do that I can confidently claim that I am the most talented Person in history.” Hearing this, Rin rolled her eyes. She almost felt like his nose was growing in length as he spoke those words and proudly raised his head.

”Alright, Mister Genius, keep your feet on the ground.” She lightly poked his forehead and replied with a smile.

”How was your day?” These days, Rin mostly spends her time bonding with her sisters or reading books. She wasn’t that much of a nerd, so reading books always came second. It wouldn’t be surprising for her to hang out with one of her sisters for the whole day.

Sometimes, she would go to Lara’s cafe and help out.

Sometimes, she spent the whole day with Alicia and helped her with whatever she could.

At times, she accompanied Julia to buy rare herbs from other continents.

She sometimes visited the Elven Continent to see Amelia or spend time training with the Elven Mages.

”I went to an auction held in Azure City and bought a lot of treasures.” She said with an excited grin.

The Azure City was easily the most crowded city on the six continents now. Just the economy of the Azure City was bigger than the economy of some small Empires. These days, citizens from the allies of the Istarin Empire were also coming to Azure City in search of better opportunities.

Naturally, this place was also a very attractive place to hold Auctions or similar events. This is mainly due to the safety that this City provided despite its sheer size.

”Treasures?” He raised an eyebrow, looking surprised at her reply.

”Yeah!”

”I bought an ancient, broken Bow that was used in the Great War from 91,000 years back. Although the bow cannot be used, it holds significant historical and symbolic value to the Beast Man.”

”Then I bought special gold coins with the Moon and Sun crests on them. These coins are more than 100,000 years old.”

Aditya had given her a total of 100 million Royal gold coins. In a single morning, she spent 98 million Royal gold coins. She would have used the remaining money, but she didn’t want to go broke. And it would be embarrassing to ask for more money when he just gave her 100 million Royal Gold coins a few days ago.

Really, thank you very much to all those who sent support with valuable golden tickets and gifts. I hope we can keep it up!!!
