Chapter 196: Chapter 196 Not Here to Make Enemies

”Miss Su, with so many media outlets and guests here, who would be foolish enough to cause trouble?” Ye Xiu asked, looking at Su Muqing as if she were an idiot.

”Who knows what you’re scheming?” Su Muqing retorted. She had no clue she had fallen right into Ye Xiu’s trap. ”I think you just want to sneak into the exhibition hall and wait for a chance to steal the exhibits. Spit it out! Who are you? If you don’t answer, I’m calling security.”

She was strictly carrying out Luo Kun’s plan: force Ye Xiu to reveal his identity in front of the reporters.

When Luo Kun saw Su Muqing pressuring Ye Xiu, he slapped his forehead. What an incompetent teammate I’ve found.

The reporters could already smell a story. While Ye Xiu’s attire was unorthodox for an exhibition, it didn’t necessarily mean he had nefarious intentions. As journalists, they had seen plenty of powerful figures who couldn’t be bothered with their appearance. Moreover, as the host, Su Muqing should have been greeting every guest with warmth, regardless of who they were. Instead, in front of all the media, she was acting spoiled and impolite, completely lacking the grace of a host.

”Are you sure you want to know who I am?” Ye Xiu asked.

”Enough nonsense! Spit it out, or I’m calling security this instant,” Su Muqing demanded aggressively.

”Alright, then.”

Ye Xiu took off his mask and sunglasses.

Instantly, the crowd of reporters erupted with excited and surprised exclamations.

”Divine Doctor Ye!”

The local media from Jin Ye City all recognized Ye Xiu. The journalists from out of town, hearing the title ”Divine Doctor Ye,” quickly asked those around them, ”Is that really Ye Xiu?”

”Yes, it is!”

”So this is what the famous Divine Doctor Ye looks like.”

”He’s so handsome! He could easily be in show business.”

The group of reporters was in an uproar. Especially those from outside media, seeing Divine Doctor Ye in person for the first time, were absolutely ecstatic. For a moment, the reporters didn’t care about any damned rules and all rushed over, surrounding Ye Xiu and the others.

”So, it’s Ye Xiu, the Divine Doctor!”

Seeing the reporters swarm over, Su Muqing was incredibly smug. I perfectly executed Luo Kun’s plan.

She scanned the reporters and announced, ”Everyone, look! The illustrious Divine Doctor Ye tried to sneak into the exhibition hall without an invitation from the Su Family. And look at how he’s dressed! He’s nothing but a shameless scoundrel.”

After she spoke, she waited for the reporters to verbally tear into Ye Xiu.

However, a reporter spoke up. ”Miss Su, for Divine Doctor Ye to grace the Su Family’s collectibles exhibition is a tremendous honor for your family.”

”Divine Doctor Ye is world-renowned, yet he’s so unpretentious and down-to-earth. He really puts those so-called celebrities to shame.”

”Miss Su, you’re going too far! Divine Doctor Ye dressed this way to avoid revealing his identity and stealing the spotlight from the exhibition. You should be grateful, but instead, you publicly embarrass and humiliate him. Is this how the Su Family treats its guests?”

”Miss Su, you are completely out of line! Divine Doctor Ye came uninvited, giving the Su Family immense face, and you’re not even grateful. Instead, you humiliate him...”

Su Muqing was dumbfounded. Where was the public condemnation of Ye Xiu she was expecting? Why were they all attacking her instead? Panicked and unsure of what to do, she shot Mutou Bingyuan a desperate look that screamed, ’Your plan is failing!’

Seeing her look, Mutou Bingyuan’s heart sank. My perfect plan... utterly ruined by her! He wanted to save Su Muqing, but as an outsider, stepping in now would only draw the reporters’ fire onto the Luo Family. So, he pretended not to see her pleading gaze.

”Excuse me, make way!”

At that moment, an awkward voice came from outside the circle of reporters. At the sound, the reporters’ denunciations of Su Muqing died down as they all turned to see who had spoken.

”Brother, Ye Xiu bullied me!” Su Muqing whined when she saw the young man push through the crowd. Now that my brother’s here, Ye Xiu is doomed!

”Stop this nonsense!” the young man scolded. He walked up to Ye Xiu with an embarrassed look and said apologetically, ”Hello, Divine Doctor Ye. I am Su Rui. My sister is being thoughtless. I hope you won’t take offense.”

Seeing this, Su Muqing was flabbergasted. She was the one being bullied, yet her own brother was apologizing to Ye Xiu. Wasn’t that a public slap in the face to his own sister?

Fuming, she cried, ”Brother, Ye Xiu bullied me! How can you apologize to him? You should be getting revenge for me!”

”Shut up! Haven’t you caused enough embarrassment?” Su Rui demanded angrily.

Su Muqing was left speechless.

”Divine Doctor Ye, uh, the exhibition has started. Why don’t you come inside with me?” Su Rui said awkwardly. He was terrified that if this argument with his sister continued, Ye Xiu’s nationwide influence, fanned by these reporters, would cause a media firestorm that would engulf the Su Family.

”Fine.” Ye Xiu had no desire to escalate the situation and make an enemy of the Su Family.

With that, he led Qin Qing and Kuroki Suzu toward the end of the red carpet, with the reporters excitedly swarming around them.

”Divine Doctor Ye, why are you attending the Su Family’s collectibles exhibition?”

”Miss Su humiliated you so openly. Don’t you plan to retaliate?”

”Divine Doctor Ye, could I get an exclusive interview with you?”

Watching Ye Xiu walk away, Su Rui heaved a heavy sigh of relief, silently grateful that Ye Xiu had let the Su Family off the hook. He then turned and glared at Su Muqing.

”Qing’er, what is wrong with you? Do you have any idea who you’re dealing with? The Su Family cannot afford to offend Ye Xiu! Are you trying to push our entire family into the eye of the storm?”

”He’s just a doctor. Why should we be afraid of him?” Su Muqing retorted, completely oblivious to the terrifying extent of Ye Xiu’s influence.

”You...” Su Rui took a deep, frustrated breath. Knowing his sister’s personality, he didn’t bother arguing further. ”Just wait until I tell Mom and Dad. Let’s see how they deal with you.”

With that, he hurried off after Ye Xiu.

”This is infuriating!” Su Muqing stomped her foot in anger. She turned to Mutou Bingyuan and asked, ”Luo Kun, our plan failed. What do we do now?”

”Only the first step of the plan failed. Now, here’s what you’re going to do...” Mutou Bingyuan whispered, leaning close to her ear to explain the next stage. He then added sternly, ”Qing’er, you cannot mess this up again!”

”Don’t worry, Luo Kun. I absolutely will not fail this time,” Su Muqing assured him confidently, her voice dripping with indignation. ”That wretched Ye Xiu, daring to oppose me! I’ll make him as infamous nationwide as he was ten years ago!”

Seeing Su Muqing’s burning hatred for Ye Xiu, Mutou Bingyuan felt assured. ”Then let’s go in as well,” he said.

”Okay!” Su Muqing chirped, happily hooking her arm through Mutou Bingyuan’s.

The pampered and spoiled young lady, utterly naive to the ways of the world, had no idea she was being used. In truth, Mutou Bingyuan’s plan wasn’t just to tarnish Ye Xiu’s reputation at the exhibition. He also intended to turn the Su Family into a formidable enemy for Ye Xiu.
