Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Cruel and Taciturn

What?

Feng Wanli stared at Ye Xiu, his expression priceless. He asked in disbelief, ”You... you’re Ye Xiu?”

”Cough, cough, yes!” Ye Xiu was dying of secondhand embarrassment. He had promised Qin Qing he wouldn’t reveal his identity to avoid this very situation, but he hadn’t expected Feng Wanli to actually have his phone number. ”Sorry, I really didn’t mean to embarrass you.”

Feng Wanli’s face flushed crimson, and he wished he could find a crack in the ground to crawl into. He had been passing himself off as Ye Xiu’s brother, boasting for ages, only for the real deal to be standing right there. It was a good thing Ye Xiu hadn’t overheard the bragging he’d done to Qin Qing and Leng Yue on the way, or it would have been even more mortifying.

”Little Bro, you... you’re Ye Xiu?” An Dongye asked blankly.

”I am,” Ye Xiu nodded.

An Dongye was also mortified, even more so than Feng Wanli. She had just told this ”Little Bro” how she’d protected Ye Xiu all night, sniping three assassins who had taken on the 200 million Gold Reward contract. She had even told him not to mention it to Ye Xiu. And now it turned out the ”Little Bro” was Ye Xiu himself! What’s more, Ye Xiu was clearly stronger than her; he didn’t need her protection in the slightest.

”Interesting!” Gu Xuesheng laughed mockingly. ”Feng Wanli, you really know how to spin a tale, don’t you? You claimed you and Ye Xiu were brothers, yet you couldn’t even recognize him when he was standing right in front of you.”

Feng Wanli was speechless.

”Alright, since Ye Xiu is here, let’s get started!” Seeing Feng Wanli was too embarrassed to speak, Gu Xuesheng picked up another crossbow bolt and aimed his crossbow at both Ye Xiu and Feng Wanli. ”You two will violate Qin Qing right here, right now. Otherwise, neither of you is leaving here alive today.”

”Are you that determined to walk to your own death?” Qin Qing demanded angrily.

”Death?” Gu Xuesheng sneered with disdain. ”I was just cursing Ye Xiu out, and he was right here, not daring to even fart. It seems I overestimated him. He’s not even worth a fart.”

”You’re courting death!” Qin Qing was furious. She turned to Ye Xiu. ”Stab him!”

”No rush.” Ye Xiu patted Qin Qing’s shoulder comfortingly before turning to Feng Wanli. ”We’re in this mess because of you. What do you plan to do about it?”

He wanted to test Feng Wanli’s character and see if the man was worth knowing.

”I’ve known Gu Xuesheng since we were kids. I know what he’s like,” Feng Wanli said, his face grim. ”If we don’t do as he says, he’ll really kill us.”

”So you’re suggesting I do what he wants?” Ye Xiu asked, his eyes narrowing.

”I, Feng Wanli, may not be a good person, but I would never drag others down with me.” Feng Wanli grabbed a saber from a weapon rack and faced Gu Xuesheng. ”I admit defeat today. I’ll cut off one of my hands. In return, you let Ye Xiu and Qin Qing go. How about it?”

Oh? Not bad, not bad at all. The guy might be a braggart, but he has real grit. Ye Xiu’s eyes lit up.

”No!” Gu Xuesheng flatly refused. ”That bitch Qin Qing dared to slap me in public. If I don’t punish her, what value does my reputation have?”

”As long as you let Qin Qing and Ye Xiu go, you can do whatever you want to me,” Feng Wanli said, his expression ferocious.

”I’ve already told you. You and Ye Xiu violate Qin Qing in front of everyone, and I’ll let all of you leave unharmed. Otherwise, none of you will walk out of this Armory in one piece.” Gu Xuesheng’s eyes gleamed with malice as he grew impatient. ”Hurry up and start. I’ll count to three. If you haven’t begun by then, I’ll put an arrow in both of your legs.”

Feng Wanli’s face was ashen. He looked at Ye Xiu and Qin Qing. ”Director Qin, Divine Doctor Ye, I’m so sorry. This is all my fault.”

”Well, you’ve taught me that boasting can be a fatal habit,” Ye Xiu commented.

Feng Wanli fell silent. Seeing his embarrassment, Ye Xiu dropped the teasing and fixed Gu Xuesheng with a cold stare. ”I’ll give you one last chance. Let us go, and I can forget this ever happened. Otherwise, you will regret today for the rest of your life.”

”Ha! You still dare to threaten me? I think you’re tired of living. Fine, I’ll put an arrow in you first. That should make you and Feng Wanli a little more obedient,” Gu Xuesheng snarled, enraged by Ye Xiu’s audacity. He aimed the crossbow at Ye Xiu’s right thigh and pulled the trigger.

WHOOSH!

The bolt flew toward Ye Xiu’s leg, but before it could connect, he snatched it right out of the air.

”I gave you a chance.”

As Ye Xiu held the bolt, it suddenly crumbled into dust in his hand. Even the metal arrowhead melted into a liquid that dripped onto the floor.

”This...” Gu Xuesheng and his dozen friends’ faces turned pale with shock.

”You... you’re a Martial Artist?” Gu Xuesheng exclaimed.

”Did I ever say I wasn’t?” Ye Xiu replied coldly.

The faces of Gu Xuesheng and his friends turned ugly. They began to panic. We’ve been acting tough all this time, and our opponent is a Martial Artist? It’s over! It’s all over! We’ve really messed with the wrong person!

Feng Wanli, however, was ecstatic. Just when he had sunk into despair, it turned out Ye Xiu was a Martial Artist!

Ha ha! This is thrilling! I’ll have an amazing new story to brag about now!

”Don’t you have anything to say?” Ye Xiu waved his hand, and a long saber from the weapon rack flew into his grip. He stared coldly at Gu Xuesheng.

”Spare us...” The dozen friends all dropped to their knees, trembling with fear.

Gu Xuesheng, however, remained standing. With a grim face, he said, ”I admit defeat. But let me remind you, my Gu Family is backed by an Ancient Martial Sect. If you dare to touch me, I will see to it that your entire family is wiped out.”

”You’ve got a lot of nerve!” Ye Xiu snorted, then turned to his companions. ”Qin Qing, An Dongye, Feng Wanli. You three pick a weapon and leave first.”

”Alright!” The trio quickly armed themselves. Qin Qing chose a sword, An Dongye a saber, and Feng Wanli a bow and arrow.

After they had left, Gu Xuesheng broke into a cruel smile. ”What? Did you send them out so you could get on your knees and beg me for mercy?”

SWISH!

Without a word, Ye Xiu swung the saber in his hand. Gu Xuesheng’s left arm was severed at the shoulder and fell to the floor.

”Ah—” Only then did the searing pain register. Gu Xuesheng cried out once but managed to choke back any further screams. Gritting his teeth, he glared at Ye Xiu with bloodshot eyes. ”Ye Xiu, I will repay today’s debt a hundred times over!”

SWISH!

Still silent, Ye Xiu swung the saber again. Gu Xuesheng’s right arm tumbled to the floor.

”You’re not human... you’re a devil...” Gu Xuesheng was finally afraid. He was terrified. He had never met anyone so ruthless in his life—so silent, yet so brutally vicious. He had no doubt that if he uttered another threat, Ye Xiu would just keep cutting.

”Go on. Why have you stopped talking?” Ye Xiu asked.

Gu Xuesheng was silent.

”Each of them loses a leg,” Ye Xiu said, tossing the saber to Leng Yue. ”And I really hate Gu Xuesheng’s mouth. Handle it cleanly.”

”Understood!” Leng Yue responded respectfully.

Ye Xiu picked up a bow and arrow and left the Armory.
