Medical and Martial God

Chapter 169: Chapter 169 Kuroki Suzu Makes a Comeback and Gets Scammed

While the 108 generals engaged in a life-or-death battle, Ye Xiu, with nothing better to do, had a few cows slaughtered. He then brought out some seasonings and started roasting them whole on the hunting grounds.

That evening, Gong Jin called.

”Young Master, throughout the day, a total of 101 individuals from Sang Jing have arrived in Xuanse. They came from different City Mansions on various flights, landing in different cities here. Then, traveling discreetly by plane, high-speed rail, or regular train, they all made their way to Jin Ye City.”

”Just now, Kuroki Suzu arrived at Qingfeng Road. She’s expected to reach the Jin Ye City railway station in two hours.”

Ye Xiu chuckled. ”Once bitten, twice shy. Kuroki Suzu must have been scared out of her wits. She doesn’t dare let anyone know she’s back.”

”What’s strange,” Gong Jin added, ”is that among these people is an ordinary man named Mutou Bingyuan. Ming Feng Tower’s database has no information on him.”

”Oh?”

Ye Xiu’s gaze sharpened. ”There’s something you don’t know. Mutou Bingyuan is the most deeply hidden operative of the Tiansha Association. He has three identities: the top strategist in the Tiansha Association’s think tank, the son of the Tiansha Association’s deceased leader, and the true controller of the Rongfu Consortium.”

”Mutou Bingyuan was born with a defective body and cannot cultivate Inner Strength. The whole reason Kuroki Suzu attended that auction was to buy the Marrow Cleansing Pill for him.”

Gong Jin was stunned. Even the world’s number one intelligence network, Ming Feng Tower, had no file on Mutou Bingyuan, yet Ye Xiu knew all about him. It seems there are many things Ye Xiu has kept hidden, even from the Thirteen Protectors.

”Why would the Tiansha Association send a cripple to Jin Ye City?” Gong Jin asked.

”Mutou Bingyuan is no cripple,” Ye Xiu corrected him. ”He may lack martial strength, but his intelligence is extraordinary, his business acumen is astonishing, and he is an extremely dangerous man. His purpose in coming to Jin Ye City is likely far more complicated than simply ordering Kuroki Suzu to deal with me.”

”Do we need to make any preparations?” Gong Jin asked.

”Have a taxi sent to the railway station for me. I want to personally pick up Kuroki Suzu,” Ye Xiu commanded.

”Understood!”

After hanging up, Ye Xiu shouted to the 108 generals, An Dongye, and Niu Tianci, who were still sparring in the hunting grounds, ”That’s enough training for today! An Dongye, after we eat, arrange a room for Niu Tianci. Give him a share of the ointment and medicinal liquid that the Ghost Doctor brought yesterday.”

With that, he hurried off. After picking up Qin Qing from the Zhulu Group and taking her home, he made his way to the railway station.

Just as he arrived at the station exit, he saw an incredibly low-key Kuroki Suzu walking out. She had messy short hair, a plaid shirt, jeans, and canvas shoes. She carried a black backpack, and not only was her face free of makeup, it was also grimy. To top it off, she wore a pair of black eyeglass frames with no lenses. Her thoroughly rustic attire made her look like a nerdy, unsophisticated girl from a poor family. No one gave her a second glance as she walked by.

Her disguise was incredibly successful. No one would ever guess that this was Kuroki Suzu—the prized apprentice of Yagyu Uemon, one of the nine ”Snake Heads” of the Tiansha Association; one of Sang Jing’s nine great prodigies; and a master whose strength had reached the War God Level.

Not a bad disguise. Ye Xiu chuckled to himself, about to approach her and ask if she needed a taxi.

But just at that moment, the unexpected happened.

Ye Xiu watched as an old man with a cane shakily brushed past Kuroki Suzu and suddenly collapsed to the ground.

”Ouch... Young lady, don’t you watch where you’re going? You’ve killed me...”

Ye Xiu almost burst out laughing at the sight. Kuroki Suzu had some truly rotten luck. She thought she could sneak into Jin Ye City discreetly, only to run into someone staging an accident the moment she stepped out of the station!

Kuroki Suzu was also stunned. Staring at the old man screaming and cursing on the ground, she asked, ”Are you talking to me?”

”Who else but you? What, you hit someone and won’t even admit it? Ouch, it hurts so much! Somebody help...” the old man wailed.

A crowd started to gather, pointing fingers at Kuroki Suzu.

Kuroki Suzu grew anxious. ”I didn’t hit him.”

”Yes, you did!” a bald, middle-aged man declared, stepping out from the crowd of onlookers. ”I was right there. I saw you knock this old man down with my own eyes.”

Hearing this, Ye Xiu’s eyes narrowed. Interesting. This is a group scam.

The onlookers, lacking Ye Xiu’s sharp judgment, began to clamor as soon as the man testified.

”This young lady has no manners, knocking over an elderly person.”

”She knocks someone down and then denies it? Sigh, what has the world come to? Have young people’s consciences all been eaten by dogs?”

”Hey, what school are you from? You have no ethics! Has all your studying gone to waste?”

”Look how plainly she’s dressed, so tacky. It’s obvious her family has no culture. That’s why they raise such ill-bred children.”

Kuroki Suzu flushed with shame, completely at a loss. Although she came from a prominent family and possessed great power, she was still just a twenty-three-year-old girl. She had never encountered anything like this before and had no experience handling this kind of situation.

”Sir, are you alright?” the bald man asked, crouching beside the old man and making a show of helping him up.

”Don’t touch me! It hurts! My leg hurts so much...” the old man shrieked as if his tail had been stepped on.

”It looks like he’s broken a bone,” the bald man said gravely. ”At his age, things like osteoporosis make bones fragile. It’s not surprising he broke something after a fall like that.”

PFFT! Ye Xiu almost burst out laughing. This bald guy is laying it on thick. I bet the next step is to extort Kuroki Suzu for an exorbitant amount of money.

”It’s killing me... Please, help me call an ambulance. The pain is unbearable...” the old man cried pitifully.

”Okay, okay...” The bald man quickly played along, taking out his phone to make the call.

This scene left Ye Xiu baffled. This scam script is wrong. Aren’t they supposed to extort money? Why call an ambulance? If they go to the hospital, won’t that give the game away?

A possibility suddenly occurred to Ye Xiu. He quickly stepped forward and said, ”I’m a taxi driver. Let me take you to the hospital instead. Waiting for an ambulance to arrive and then drive you there... I’m afraid the old man can’t take that much of a delay.”

”Yes, yes! Young man, you’re a good person! Where’s your car? I’ll carry the old man over,” the bald man said, lifting the old man into his arms.

The onlookers immediately started praising Ye Xiu.

”They’re both young, but what a huge difference in character.”

”Miss, you should learn from him. Judging by your age, you must be a college student, right? Even a taxi driver is this decent, but you, a college student, have no manners at all.”

”Universities these days are just for dating and having fun. The teachers don’t bother teaching students about morals and ethics anymore.”

Kuroki Suzu felt her head swell from the scolding, her lungs nearly bursting with rage. If I weren’t afraid of exposing my identity, these gawking idiots would already be dead.

”What are you standing around for?” the bald man, still holding the old man, snapped at Kuroki Suzu. ”Come with us to the hospital. You have to pay for the old man’s medical bills.”
