The surveillance room remained silent.

Mira hadn’t moved.

The monitor had returned to normal.

Every recording looked exactly as it should.

No little girl.

No whisper.

No corrupted frame.

Nothing.

Yet...

She knew what she had seen.

”...I’m not imagining this.”

She replayed the archive footage again.

Nothing.

Again.

Nothing.

The file had rewritten itself.

As if someone had quietly erased only the parts they didn’t want her to see.

”...Who are you...?”

For the first time in years...

Mira shut the computer off herself.

The following morning...

Rain covered Seoul.

A slow drizzle tapped against the headquarters windows.

The Guardian Network cafeteria slowly filled with people.

Dana arrived first.

Then Sera.

Then Commander Yuna.

Lyra entered quietly a few minutes later.

Finally...

Dillan walked in carrying two coffees.

”...Morning.”

”You actually slept?”

Dana asked.

”...Six hours.”

”I’ll take it.”

He smiled.

”So will I.”

The atmosphere felt lighter than it had in days.

Until...

The cafeteria door opened.

”...Good morning.”

Sasha.

She carried another lunch container.

Her smile was exactly as gentle as yesterday.

”...I hope I’m not late.”

”Not at all.”

Sera answered politely.

”We were just about to eat.”

”...Wonderful.”

Sasha looked toward the table.

Six chairs surrounded it.

Five occupied.

One empty.

Without hesitation...

She walked toward the empty chair beside Dillan.

Sat down.

”...Morning.”

Dillan smiled politely.

No awkwardness.

No hesitation.

As though she had always eaten breakfast there.

Dana quietly noticed something.

Yesterday...

She had sat beside Dillan.

Today...

She was across the table.

”...Strange.”

Breakfast continued normally.

Conversation drifted toward Gate patrol schedules.

Yuna discussed resource shortages.

Dr. Yeon complained about equipment.

Dillan laughed at something Dana said.

Sasha quietly listened.

Occasionally smiling whenever Dillan spoke.

Never interrupting.

Never forcing herself into the conversation.

Simply...

Present.

”...You cook every day?”

Dillan asked.

Sasha nodded.

”...It relaxes me.”

”I can see why.”

He took another bite.

”...You’re really good.”

”...Thank you.”

A tiny blush appeared across her cheeks.

Only for a second.

Then it disappeared.

Across the table...

Lyra watched silently.

Not Sasha.

The chair.

Her silver eyes slowly narrowed.

The Resonance Field...

Had adjusted.

As though...

It expected Sasha to be sitting there.

”...No...”

Lyra whispered.

After breakfast...

Dana caught up with Mira.

”...Did you notice?”

”...The chair?”

Dana blinked.

”You noticed too.”

Mira nodded.

”I checked yesterday’s seating photos.”

”And?”

”Sasha has sat beside Dillan every single time.”

”...That’s normal.”

”No.”

Mira quietly opened her tablet.

Yesterday’s photograph.

The day before.

Another.

Every picture...

Sasha occupied the chair beside Dillan.

Dana frowned.

”...So?”

Mira slowly swiped again.

A photograph from three days ago.

Before Sasha arrived.

Dana stopped walking.

”...Wait...”

The chair beside Dillan...

Had been empty.

”...I sat there.”

She whispered.

”I always sit there.”

Mira looked toward her.

”...The photographs disagree.”

Dana immediately grabbed the tablet.

Another image.

Same result.

The chair remained empty.

”...No...”

She clearly remembered laughing beside Dillan.

She remembered stealing his coffee.

She remembered complaining about paperwork.

Yet...

Every photograph showed empty space.

”...That’s impossible.”

Inside the archive...

Dillan continued organizing old personnel files.

One folder caught his attention.

Elementary School Records

”...Why do we even have these?”

He opened it absentmindedly.

Names.

Addresses.

Graduation photos.

Nothing unusual.

Then...

A class picture.

His eyes widened.

”...That’s...”

His own third-grade class.

Tiny Dillan stood in the second row.

Smiling awkwardly.

Children surrounded him.

He slowly scanned every face.

Until...

He found her.

A little girl.

Long dark-red hair.

Standing beside him.

Holding his sleeve.

His heart skipped.

”...Who...”

The moment he focused...

The photograph blurred.

Only her face.

Everyone else’s remained perfectly clear.

”...No.”

He rubbed his eyes.

Looked again.

Still blurred.

”...What’s wrong?”

Sasha’s voice came gently from behind him.

Dillan nearly jumped.

”...Nothing.”

She stepped closer.

”...An old photograph?”

He nodded.

”...Do you remember her?”

He pointed toward the blurred face.

Sasha looked.

Very quietly...

She smiled.

”...Yes.”

”...Who is she?”

Silence.

She looked toward Dillan.

”...Someone who missed you.”

Before he could ask another question...

Commander Yuna called from the hallway.

”Dillan.”

He turned instinctively.

”...Coming.”

When he looked back...

The photograph had returned to normal.

The little girl...

Was gone.

As if she’d never existed.

Only empty space remained beside his younger self.

Dillan’s heartbeat slowly quickened.

”...I swear...”

He whispered.

”...She was there.”

That evening...

Lyra stood alone on the rooftop.

The rain had stopped.

Clouds slowly drifted across the night sky.

She gently touched the edge of the Resonance Field.

Immediately...

A second hand touched it from the opposite side.

Clearer than before.

Almost solid.

”...You’re persistent.”

Lyra said softly.

A gentle laugh answered.

”...So are you.”

”...Why him?”

Silence.

Then...

”...Because...”

The voice carried infinite tenderness.

”...He promised.”

The hand disappeared.

The ripple remained.

Lyra lowered hers.

For the first time...

She wasn’t looking toward the Field.

She was looking toward the apartment where Sasha lived.

Very quietly...

She whispered to herself.

”...You’re beginning to cross the line.”

Far away...

Sasha stood on her balcony.

Looking back toward headquarters.

She smiled.

”...Not yet...”

”...I’m only coming home.”

The photograph wouldn’t leave Dillan’s mind.

He checked it again.

And again.

Every time...

The same result.

An empty space beside his younger self.

No little girl.

No blurred face.

Nothing.

”...Am I remembering someone who isn’t there?”

The question sounded absurd even to him.

Yet...

He couldn’t shake the feeling.

Someone had stood beside him.

Someone important.

”Dillan.”

He looked up.

Dr. Yeon stood in the doorway.

”Commander wants everyone in Conference Room Two.”

”...Another meeting?”

”I’m afraid so.”

A few minutes later...

The Compass gathered around the circular table.

Commander Yuna stood beside the display screen.

Her expression was more serious than usual.

”We have a situation.”

Mira connected her tablet.

Several images appeared.

Security photographs.

Surveillance captures.

Staff photos.

Every image contained Dillan.

Many also contained Sasha.

”...What’s this?”

Dana asked.

Mira answered quietly.

”I’ve been comparing photographs.”

She changed to another slide.

The cafeteria.

Yesterday morning.

Sasha beside Dillan.

Another.

The courtyard.

Sasha walking beside him.

Another.

The archive.

Sasha standing behind him.

Then...

Another photograph appeared.

Dated...

Three days before Sasha arrived.

Everyone frowned.

The picture showed the cafeteria.

Dillan sat exactly where he always did.

The chair beside him...

Was occupied.

”...Who’s that?”

Dana whispered.

The figure was blurred.

Only one seat in the entire photograph had become distorted.

Commander Yuna narrowed her eyes.

”Can you enhance it?”

”I already tried.”

Mira tapped the screen.

Nothing changed.

”...Every image corrupts.”

Dr. Yeon leaned forward.

”...That’s not compression.”

”No.”

Mira nodded.

”...It’s selective.”

Only that chair.

Only that person.

Everything else remained crystal clear.

Dillan stared silently.

His chest tightened.

”...Why...”

The blurred figure...

Felt familiar.

Meanwhile...

Sasha sat alone in the headquarters garden.

A small notebook rested on her lap.

She wasn’t writing.

She was simply reading.

The pages had become yellow with age.

Tiny handwriting filled every line.

She smiled.

”...You still hated vegetables.”

A quiet laugh escaped her.

”...You always traded them to me.”

She turned another page.

A dried flower slipped out.

She caught it before it touched the ground.

Carefully.

Almost reverently.

”...You picked this...”

Her thumb gently brushed the faded petals.

”...You said it looked lonely.”

She closed the notebook.

Held it against her chest.

”...I never threw it away.”

From across the garden...

Sera quietly watched her.

Not hiding.

Simply observing.

After several moments...

She walked over.

”...Mind if I sit?”

Sasha looked up.

”...Of course.”

Sera took the opposite bench.

For a while...

Neither woman spoke.

Finally...

Sera smiled politely.

”...You’ve known Dillan a long time.”

”...Yes.”

”...Longer than us.”

”...Much longer.”

Sera nodded.

”...He’s important to you.”

Sasha looked toward the flowers.

”...More than he’ll ever know.”

Silence.

”...Do you love him?”

The question came gently.

Without accusation.

Without hostility.

Sasha didn’t hesitate.

”...Yes.”

The answer was immediate.

Simple.

Absolute.

Sera’s smile remained.

”...I thought so.”

”...Do you?”

Sasha asked.

Sera’s eyes softened.

”...Yes.”

Another silence settled between them.

The air remained calm.

Birds sang nearby.

Everything looked peaceful.

Yet beneath every word...

Something sharp quietly rested.

Two women.

Neither willing to step back.

Neither willing to pretend.

Sera stood first.

”...Thank you.”

”...For what?”

”...For answering honestly.”

She smiled.

”...I prefer honesty.”

Sasha nodded.

”...So do I.”

As Sera walked away...

She glanced back only once.

Sasha was still smiling.

Watching the flowers sway in the wind.

But something about that smile...

Made Sera’s instincts whisper.

She’s waiting.

That evening...

Lyra entered the Resonance Chamber again.

The Field shimmered gently.

She closed her eyes.

Immediately...

She found it.

The foreign presence.

Closer than ever.

”...You’re inside the Field now.”

A quiet voice answered.

”...No.”

”...I’ve always been inside.”

Lyra’s eyes opened.

”...Impossible.”

”...Is it?”

A ripple spread across the membrane.

Unlike before...

It wasn’t crimson.

It was...

Familiar.

Like an echo of Dillan himself.

Lyra frowned.

”...You’ve been connected to him...”

”...Since before the Gates.”

The voice laughed softly.

”...Much longer than that.”

Silence.

”...Who are you?”

For several long seconds...

Nothing answered.

Then...

A whisper.

Barely audible.

”...His first promise.”

The presence disappeared.

Lyra remained standing alone.

For the first time since she crossed dimensions...

She couldn’t understand what she had just encountered.

Late that night...

Dillan found himself unable to sleep again.

Not because of nightmares.

Because of memories.

He sat by the apartment window.

Watching the rain.

Somewhere in the distance...

A train horn echoed through the city.

The sound made his heart ache.

He didn’t know why.

Slowly...

He reached into his jacket pocket.

His fingers touched something unfamiliar.

A small object.

He frowned.

”...What’s this?”

He pulled it out.

A faded red ribbon.

Old.

Worn.

Its edges had frayed with age.

He stared at it.

”...I don’t own...”

His words stopped.

The ribbon smelled faintly...

Of lilies.

At that exact moment...

The System appeared.

[NOTICE.]

[Dormant Childhood Memory Resonance Detected.]

[Memory Anchor Located.]

[Recovery Progress: 1%]

Dillan’s breathing caught.

Before he could read further...

Another notification violently forced itself over the first.

[WARNING.]

[DO NOT FORCE MEMORY RECONSTRUCTION.]

The two notifications flickered.

Competing.

As though they disagreed with each other.

Then...

Both disappeared.

Leaving Dillan alone...

Holding a red ribbon he couldn’t remember ever owning.

Far across the city...

Sasha suddenly looked toward the night sky.

Her hand slowly rose to her own hair.

A gentle breeze moved through it.

She stopped.

One ribbon was missing.

She smiled to herself.

”...You kept it...”

A single tear rolled down her cheek.

”...You really kept it...”
