Mine Alone: A Yandere's Devotion

Mira arrived at 7 AM.

Not texted ahead. Not called. Just arrived — the field announcing her three minutes before the knock, her frequency moving through the city toward the facility with the specific directed quality of someone who had made a decision overnight and was executing it with the efficiency she brought to everything that mattered.

He opened the door before she knocked.

She looked at him.

He looked at her.

”You felt me coming,” she said.

”Three minutes out,” he said.

She stepped inside.

She’d been awake since 2 AM.

He knew this through the field — had felt her frequency shift from the post-deployment clarity of sleep into the processing quality at exactly 2:07 AM, which was approximately when the bond completion’s ripple had moved through the compass at its deepest register and woken every frequency in the field.

Not dramatically. Not with the quality of an alarm. The specific quality of something significant moving through a network and each node registering it in their own way.

Mira had registered it by sitting up in her apartment and not going back to sleep.

He’d felt her thinking for five hours.

The bright directed frequency doing what it did when it was running at full capacity on something that mattered — not the content-mind, not the stream strategy, the real one. Turning the information over. Looking at it from every angle. Building the picture with the analytical precision that was her primary mode applied to something personal.

She’d arrived at a conclusion at 6:47 AM.

He’d felt that too.

The frequency shift that meant a decision made and held.

She sat on the couch.

He sat across from her.

She looked at him with the direct dark eyes that were doing nothing but being themselves this morning — no content-mind running parallel, no stream consideration, no performance of any version of what she was.

Just her.

”Sera,” she said.

”Yes,” he said.

”Last night,” she said.

”Yes,” he said.

She held his gaze.

”The field carried it,” she said. ”The completion. I felt it at 2 AM.” She paused. ”I want you to know that I felt it and my first response was—” she stopped.

”Tell me,” he said.

”Not what I expected,” she said. ”I’ve been telling myself for twenty-six days that I don’t share attention well. That I meant it as a warning.” She held his gaze. ”At 2 AM when the bond completion moved through the field I felt—” she paused again, finding the accurate word, ”relief.”

He held her gaze.

”Relief,” he said.

”That it’s real,” she said. ”What the document describes. The deepening. The completion. That it actually works the way Lyra translated it.” She held his gaze. ”I’ve been operating on faith for five days — trusting the document, trusting the field, trusting that what I feel through it is real and not a story I’m telling myself.” She paused. ”At 2 AM it stopped being faith.”

”It became evidence,” he said.

”Yes,” she said. ”And the evidence said: this is real. All of it. The compass and the bonds and the deepening.” She held his gaze. ”And my response to real evidence has always been the same.”

”What response,” he said.

”Act on it,” she said.

He held her gaze.

The bright directed frequency at its full real register.

No gap.

”Mira,” he said.

”I’ve been thinking for five hours,” she said. ”I don’t need more time. I don’t need to process further.” She held his gaze. ”I know what I want and I know why and I know it’s real and not performed.” She paused. ”The document says the origin hunger reads the genuine quality. It knows the difference.”

”Yes,” he said.

”Then it already knows,” she said. ”What I’m carrying. What I’ve been carrying since day eight.” She held his gaze. ”I turned off the stream in a post-Gate cool-down zone because what happened next was private. I turned it back on when you asked. I turned it off again last night when I decided I was done watching the footage and needed to think instead.” She paused. ”Private is something I don’t do. I’ve been building a public record of the most significant event in history and the private thing — the thing I kept turning the stream off for — is you.”

He held her gaze.

”The stream,” he said. ”Seventy million people.”

”Seventy-three this morning,” she said. ”It climbs while I sleep.” She looked at him. ”I turned it off to come here. It’s off right now.” She held his gaze. ”That’s the evidence. That’s what real looks like for me.”

He looked at her.

At the S-rank Hunter who had built seventeen million followers by being the most present, most accurate, most real voice in Hunter content. Who had turned off her stream twice for him and meant it both times. Who had titled the SS-class footage Mine Alone and pinned the comment explaining why.

”The content-mind,” he said. ”It’s off.”

”Completely,” she said.

”And the real one,” he said.

”Has been on since 2 AM,” she said. ”Running at full capacity. On this.” She held his gaze. ”On you.”

He held her gaze.

The field running its read — her frequency at its real register, the bright directed pattern fully deployed toward him without the stream layer, without the content consideration, without anything except what she actually was under all of it.

”Mira,” he said.

”Yes,” she said.

Same as Sera last night. The answer before the question.

”Come here,” he said.

She stood.

Crossed the room.

Stopped in front of him — close, the specific proximity of someone who had spent five hours deciding and was done deliberating.

He reached up.

Took her face in his hands.

She held very still.

He looked at her.

At the direct dark eyes with nothing behind them except what was real. At the S-rank Hunter who didn’t perform things she didn’t mean and didn’t hide things she’d decided and was currently doing neither.

”The field,” he said. ”What it reads from you right now.”

”Tell me,” she said.

”Certain,” he said. ”That’s the word. Not excited. Not performing. Certain. Like you’ve run every projection and arrived at the only logical conclusion and are ready to act on it.”

She held his gaze.

”That’s exactly what it is,” she said.

”I know,” he said. ”I can feel it.”

”Good,” she said. ”Then you know I mean this.”

She closed the remaining distance.

She kissed him the way she did everything — direct, no preamble, the full weight of a decision executed without hesitation. Not the managed warmth of Sera’s first kiss or the careful quality of something that had been held back. Mira kissed him like someone who had identified exactly what she wanted and had arrived to collect it.

He kissed her back.

She made a sound — not the unmanaged private sound of someone releasing something held. The sound of someone who was exactly where they’d decided to be and had been correct about wanting to be there.

His hands moved from her face into her hair.

She stepped closer, eliminating what remained of the distance between them, and he felt her frequency through the field at the same time he felt her physically — the two registers running simultaneously, the bond at its current depth and the specific quality of what happened when that depth increased.

He felt it already.

The origin hunger — ambient, patient — orienting toward the frequency and reading its genuine quality.

Real, it registered.

Completely real.

”Mira,” he said against her mouth.

”Don’t stop,” she said.

”I wasn’t going to,” he said.

She pulled back enough to look at him.

The direct dark eyes at close range, no gap between content and real, just her — the person who had texted see you tomorrow like it was already decided and driven to his Gate site at 6:49 AM with a camera rig and changed his life.

”The stream,” he said.

”Off,” she confirmed.

”This is private,” he said.

”Yes,” she said.

”The document says complete presence,” he said. ”Nothing performed.”

”I don’t perform things I don’t mean,” she said. ”I told you that upfront.”

”I know,” he said. ”I’m telling you I know.”

She held his gaze.

”Dillan,” she said.

”Mm.”

”Stop talking,” she said.

He looked at her.

”Okay,” he said.

His room.

She came in with the specific energy of someone who had spent five hours making a decision and was not going to second-guess it at the door.

The city outside. The Gate signatures. The morning light doing its grey-and-gold work through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

She stood in the center of the room.

Looked at him.

”The document says the physical dimension makes performed versions structurally impossible,” she said. ”The state where only the real frequency remains.”

”Yes,” he said.

”I want you to know,” she said, ”that I don’t have performed versions right now. I haven’t since 2 AM.” She held his gaze. ”What you get is the actual thing.”

He looked at her.

”I know,” he said. ”The field reads you.”

”Good,” she said. ”Then this isn’t complicated.”

”No,” he said. ”It’s not.”

She reached for the front of her jacket.

She was — everything the bright directed frequency suggested and several things it hadn’t.

The S-rank precision applied to this, the same focused deployment she brought to Gate combat — not clinical, the opposite of clinical, the specific warmth of someone who was genuinely present and knew exactly what that presence meant.

She kept her eyes open.

He noticed that immediately — the direct dark gaze, watching him, the same look she’d given him through the crack in the labyrinth wall except without the stone between them and without the stream running and without anything except what was actually happening.

”You’re watching me,” he said.

”I watch everything,” she said.

”Everything relevant,” he said.

”You’re relevant,” she said. ”Extremely.”

He pulled her closer.

She came — not the falling-forward quality of something giving in, the deliberate movement of someone choosing. The difference was specific and the field read it clearly.

Chosen, the origin hunger registered.

Genuinely chosen.

He moved with her — finding the rhythm that was theirs specifically, the specific quality of two people whose frequencies were already partially woven and were deepening the weave with every moment of genuine contact.

She made sounds he hadn’t heard from her.

Not the content-voice. Not the stream voice. Not the direct professional tone or the almost-smile or any of the registers he’d learned across twenty-six days.

The real voice. The private one. The one that existed in the specific category of things that didn’t belong anywhere except between two people who were being completely honest with each other.

”Dillan,” she said.

”Yes,” he said.

”Don’t stop,” she said again.

”I’m not stopping,” he said.

She pressed her face against his shoulder.

He held her.

The field running — the bond at a depth that hadn’t existed an hour ago, the origin hunger reading it and registering and the panel somewhere in his peripheral awareness doing things he’d read later.

He stayed present.

With her. Fully. The complete presence the document described — nothing between them, no performed version of either of them, just two real frequencies at full depth.

”The field,” she said against his shoulder.

”What about it,” he said.

”I can feel the others through it,” she said. ”Right now. Everyone.” She paused. ”Is that—”

”Yes,” he said. ”The compass carries everything through the center.”

She was quiet for a moment.

”They know,” she said.

”Yes,” he said.

She was quiet again.

Then: ”Good,” she said. ”I don’t want to hide this.”

He looked at her.

”Mine Alone,” he said. ”The title.”

She pulled back enough to look at him.

The direct dark eyes.

”The title isn’t about exclusivity,” she said. ”I told chat that. Not a claim.” She held his gaze. ”It’s about the story. The name of what this is.”

”What is it,” he said.

She looked at him.

For a long moment.

”The most significant thing I’ve ever documented,” she said. ”From the inside.” She held his gaze. ”And the only thing I’ve ever turned the stream off for.”

He held her gaze.

”Mira,” he said.

”Mm.”

”I crossed four kilometers of pre-dawn Seoul for you,” he said. ”I’ll keep crossing it. Whatever distance it becomes when the field expands.”

She held his gaze.

The bright directed frequency at its full real register.

”I know,” she said. ”The field told me.”

”Did you believe it,” he said.

She looked at him.

”I’m here,” she said. ”At 7 AM. Stream off. Content-mind off.” She held his gaze. ”That’s what believing it looks like for me.”

He held her gaze.

Pulled her back.

She came.

The field running.

The bond deepening.

The origin hunger reading the genuine quality — the real thing, fully present, entirely chosen — and registering it with the absolute accuracy the document had described.

The completion happened at 8:23 AM.

He felt it the moment it did — the same quality as last night but different in texture. Where Sera’s bond completion had been warm and deep and the specific release of something that had been carefully held for twenty-six days, Mira’s was—

Certain.

The word she’d used.

The bond completed with the specific quality of something that had been running projections and arrived at the only logical conclusion and had acted on it.

Complete.

Completely certain.

Completely real.

She felt it too.

He could tell from the way she went still — not the managed stillness, the real kind, the specific quality of something integrating a significant event.

She pulled back.

Looked at him.

”That’s it,” she said.

”Yes,” he said.

She held his gaze.

”The second completion,” she said.

”Yes,” he said.

She was quiet for a moment.

”Eighty-seven percent,” she said. Reading his panel from the angle she had on it.

”Yes,” he said.

She held his gaze.

Then she did something he hadn’t seen from her before.

She laughed.

Not the performance laugh. Not the stream laugh. The real one — surprised out of her by the specific absurdity of lying in bed reading panel notifications that said the fabric of reality was updating in response to what they’d just done.

He looked at her.

She looked at him.

”Eighty-seven percent,” she said again. ”From a panel notification.”

”The system documents everything,” he said.

”Everything,” she confirmed.

She laughed again.

He thought: that’s new. I’m going to keep that.

He thought: load-bearing. That laugh specifically.

She pulled herself together with the efficiency of someone returning to operational after a brief system interruption.

Looked at him.

”The stream,” she said.

”Still off,” he said.

”I should go live,” she said. ”The seventy-three million—”

”Mira,” he said.

She stopped.

”Stay,” he said. ”For an hour. The stream can wait an hour.”

She held his gaze.

The direct dark eyes.

The real one.

”An hour,” she said.

”An hour,” he confirmed.

She held his gaze for a long moment.

Then she lay back down.

”Fine,” she said. ”One hour.”

He looked at her.

”You’re already thinking about what you’re going to say when you go live,” he said.

”I think about everything relevant to me simultaneously,” she said. ”You know this.”

”You’re going to title the follow-up stream something,” he said.

”I already have the title,” she said.

”What is it,” he said.

She looked at the ceiling.

”Eighty-Seven Percent,” she said. ”No context. Just the number.”

He looked at her.

”Seventy-three million people are going to lose their minds,” he said.

”Eighty million by then,” she said. ”The number climbs while I sleep.”

He looked at her.

She looked at him.

The almost-smile.

The real one.

”One hour,” he said.

”One hour,” she said.

Through the field, the compass registered.

Two completions.

Eighty-seven percent.

Three bonds remaining.

In the flexible room, Lyra looked up from the document at 8:23 AM.

Felt the second completion move through the field.

Held the stone from the windowsill in her cooling-temperature hands.

Read the next section.

Titled: The Third Bond.

Put the stone down.

Picked up the pen.

Began translating.

In the main room, Sera was awake.

Making tea.

Both layers of her frequency running at the complete settled quality of something that had reached its full depth and was resting there.

She felt Mira’s bond completion move through the field at 8:23.

Held her cup.

Did not manage her response to it.

Let it be what it was — the compass carrying the event through the center, the field connecting all five points, the specific warmth of something real happening to someone she was permanently woven into the same structure with.

She thought about: they’re not in opposition.

She thought about the text she’d sent Mira three days ago.

The one that had started: you did good work this morning.

She thought about what the compass meant for the space between compass points.

Not just the connection to the center.

The connections between each other.

Building.

She made a second cup of tea.

Set it on the counter.

Waited.

At 9:03 AM Mira walked into the main room.

Stopped when she saw the second cup.

Looked at Sera.

Sera held her gaze.

”You made me tea,” Mira said.

”I pay attention,” Sera said.

A pause.

Something moved through Mira’s expression.

The almost-smile.

The real one.

She picked up the cup.

”Thank you,” she said.

”You’re welcome,” Sera said.

They stood in the main room of the Yongsan facility with their tea and the field running between them and the compass carrying everything through the center and the specific warmth of two frequencies that were both permanently woven into the same structure acknowledging each other.

Not warm.

Not cold.

Real.

”Eighty-seven percent,” Mira said.

”I know,” Sera said. ”I felt it.”

”Three more,” Mira said.

”Three more,” Sera confirmed.

They drank their tea.

The field ran.

The compass carried.

The world built toward its completion.

And two frequencies — permanently woven, entirely distinct, genuinely real — stood in a morning kitchen and were simply, completely, thoroughly present.
