Chapter 826, Replacing the Ancient Gods

In just a few words, Lu Fan could also feel the despair of this former Valkyrie.

Back then, she had already seen and experienced everything. She witnessed the overthrow of her world with her own eyes. She wanted to change it, even going so far as to become an Ancient God, but ultimately, she still failed. The end had still been inevitable.

After all, she was merely a Mid Tier Ancient God. It was impossible for her to be a match for the other 35 Ancient Gods.

Even after becoming an Ancient God, she still had no way to stop them.

Lu Fan remained silent for a long while, then suddenly thought of something and asked. “The Ancient God who killed your relatives and friends back then, was it the Abyssal Ancient God?”

“Exactly!” Valkyrie answered. “Everyone was killed by it!”

“In the end, I also died at its hands. Of course, before I died, I left a mark on it. So, even after the era changed, this mark wouldn’t be erased.”

Lu Fan could not help but bitterly chuckle. “No wonder you knew its hiding place and had me kill it. So, having me kill it was purely for your own revenge? This plan of using a borrowed blade to kill, you sure are scheming.”

Valkyrie said. “I was not merely using a borrowed blade to kill. I had you kill it because there were reasons to kill it.”

“You must kill the Ancient Gods. If you could choose, I naturally hoped you would kill the Abyssal Ancient God. Both publicly and privately, I wanted it dead the most. I wanted it to lose its Divine Seat and forever disappear from this world.”

Having said this, Valkyrie let out a sigh. “Oh how I wish I could personally kill it myself. Unfortunately, my strength hasn’t recovered as quickly as the Abyssal Ancient God. Even if I went, I wouldn’t have the ability to kill it. So, I could only have you do it. I hope you don’t mind. I did indeed use you, but I had no malicious intent whatsoever.”

Lu Fan shook his head. “Whether there’s malicious intent isn’t proven by words. To be honest, although you’ve told me so much, up until now, I only know of your identity, but I still don’t know what exactly you are up to.”

“Is your goal to kill all the Ancient Gods? Why did you have me kill the Abyssal Ancient God? Whose side are you on?”

“For all of this, I need clear answers.”

“Hehe!” Valkyrie let out a laugh. However, since this laughter came from a strange insect, it inevitably made one feel odd.

“Indeed, there are too many things I need to tell you. Even after saying so much, many things still can’t be explained clearly. So, let me slowly explain to you.”

“First, you now have a general understanding of my identity and some rules about the Ancient Gods and their Divine Seats.”

Lu Fan nodded.

“Then this is easy.” Valkyrie said. “Let me make my position clear, I stand on the side of Humanity. Although my relatives and my world have already been destroyed, and I’ve also become an eternal Ancient God, I don’t believe these Divine Seats should exist. I believe how this world develops doesn’t need the interference of the Ancient Gods performing resets and rebuilding.”

“What I want to do is reorganise all the Ancient Gods, or more specifically, kill them all.”

“Although the Ancient Gods are eternal existences, we can still replace them.”

“If we replace all the Ancient Gods with people who think like you and me, and no longer initiate the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy, the upcoming crisis will naturally be resolved.”

“The Abyssal Ancient God was merely the first step of my plan. After you kill it, I plan to use the method I know to help you obtain its Divine Seat. This way, you would be an Ancient God as well, and simultaneously, you would also master the method to completely kill the other Ancient Gods and seize their Divine Seats.”

“The next Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy is approaching, but you and I still have time. There are a total of 36 Ancient Gods. We need to replace as many as possible. Even if we can’t replace them all, we need enough people to obtain Divine Seats to contend with those Old Gods.”

“If you can’t achieve it in this era, then you’ll be like me, lying dormant, waiting for the next era to begin, waiting for one or several existences like you and me, who can help kill the Ancient Gods.”

“Unfortunately, if it comes to that, everyone in your era will die. I think you’d find that very difficult to accept, wouldn’t you? So, we need to hurry with this. Perhaps, with your help, the ancient custom of the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy will completely end in this era.”

Lu Fan nodded after hearing this. “So you call yourself a New God, wanting to completely overthrow the Old Gods, am I right?”

“Yes.” Valkyrie acknowledged.

“And you are the first ally I want to recruit. You are strong enough to seek out those Ancient Gods still lying dormant. You are able to kill and strip away their Divine Seats to grant it to others.”

“In the end, when the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy begins, it will be a struggle between the New Gods and the Old Gods, to see which side ultimately prevails.”

Lu Fan gradually understood what the other party was thinking and nodded. “Now that you’ve put it this way, I understand. But how can I believe what you’re saying is all true?”

Valkyrie seemed to have anticipated Lu Fan would ask this question, but her answer was extremely weak, to the point of powerlessness. “I have no way to convince you. For all of this, I can’t find any evidence to prove my allegiance. Moreover, I still have the identity of an Ancient God. Your suspicion of me is within reason.”

Having said this, there was a trace of helplessness in her tone. “If you don’t believe me, then I’ve failed in this era. I can only wait for the next era and see if I can find someone like you who has the ability to save the world and is willing to trust me. After becoming an Ancient God, I too have become eternal. Eventually, I’ll find an opportunity to complete the plan I want to accomplish.”

“It’s just—”Valkyrie hesitated for a long while before saying bitterly. “I don’t know how long I can maintain this determination. Perhaps some of the Ancient Gods were once New Gods like me. But in endless waiting, they either became completely desperate or forgot their former hatred. They might have turned into what they hated the most, acting like the Old Gods, only knowing slaughter.”

“I don’t know what the future holds. In any case, right now, I can only strive to be myself. I can only strive to become Yamarí, the Human Valkyrie. Not an Ancient God.”
