Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 814, The Lairs of Slumbering Ancient Gods

Translator: Silavin

“Generally speaking, even if an Ancient God perishes and is buried underground, the power within their bodies would still leak out, nourishing this world in return. This causes their resting places to be populated with some extremely powerful Life Forms. At the same time, randomly generated resources will be abundant. Compared to other places, around us Ancient Gods, Secret Realms, Dungeon Instances, and other resources will appear with exceptional frequency.”

“Therefore, even if some Ancient Gods’ resting places are difficult to locate, their general positions can still be roughly determined by these factors.”

“Firstly, places where Secret Realms and Dungeon Instances are particularly concentrated most likely harbour Ancient Gods. Secondly, some locations that produce High Level Monsters may have Ancient Gods. And then, at the end of each era, it becomes even easier to discern. Wherever powerful nations stand, there will inevitably be powerful Ancient Gods beneath! Moreover, the stronger the national power, the more powerful the Ancient God slumbering below.”

“After the Ancient Gods awaken, they also need to devour energy to rapidly restore their strength. So, when they’re slumbering, they would release some energy to nourish the world, allowing more powerful Life Forms to exist near their resting places. This helps ensure that when they awaken, there will be enough energy nearby for them to devour.”

“If you want to know where Ancient Gods are hidden, it’s very simple. You only need to look at where in this world the resources are particularly abundant.”

The Abyssal Ancient God’s words caused Lu Fan to fall into contemplation.

He knew well that what the other party said was no lie.

Never mind anything else, weren’t the Fallen Corpse Ancient God and the Holy Mountain Ancient God located precisely within Dragon Country and Star Strip Country?

Perhaps it was precisely because these two Ancient Gods were slumbering underground that the two nations’ resources were so abundant, which in turn gave rise to the two most powerful countries in this world.

[By the same logic, do the other powerful nations also have Ancient Gods present!?]

[It is very likely to be the case! It seems that prosperous national fortunes are not necessarily a good thing. They might very well be harbouring calamities lying in wait!]

[As for other places that might have Ancient Gods…] The first place Lu Fan thought of was Dragon Snow Mountain!

The existence of Ancient Gods would generate some powerful Life Forms, which aligned perfectly with Dragon Snow Mountain.

Giant Dragons were not products unique to this great era, but the fact that Giant Dragons chose to inhabit Dragon Snow Mountain must be because Dragon Snow Mountain had something special about it.

And could this special quality be because Dragon Snow Mountain also harboured an Ancient God?

After all, back then, both the Valley of Life and the Frost Dragon King’s homeland were attacked by a strange existence.

And Lu Fan suspected that strange existence was an Ancient God!

In that case, Dragon Snow Mountain should also be in danger. If that Ancient God appeared, Dragon Snow Mountain might also suffer a calamity!

As for other places, wherever there were exceptional characteristics, there was a high possibility of slumbering Ancient Gods lying in wait. Eliminating them all one by one would be no simple task.

At the very least, it would require everyone’s collective effort to eliminate all the interfering factors one by one and confirm the locations of all the unawakened Ancient Gods.

Just as Lu Fan was thinking this, the Abyssal Ancient God could not help but speak up. “So, you’ve asked me so many questions, and I’ve answered them all. Have you considered what I said? Although I’m not the strongest Ancient God, among the Ancient Gods, I’m not someone just anyone can provoke either.”

“As long as you submit to me and help me accumulate strength, I can guarantee that you’ll pass through this era safely. When the next era begins, you’ll still be able to awaken and become one of the world’s strongest experts! At that time, you can possess everything you could possibly have!”

“I don’t know who you are, nor do I know what you currently possess. But I can guarantee that as long as you cooperate with me, you’ll have much more!”

Lu Fan smiled upon hearing this, feeling that this Ancient God no longer had any value left.

After all, Lu Fan had already extracted most of what it knew.

As for more things, even if Lu Fan continued asking, he would not get anywhere.

Therefore, this Ancient God now had no further value and was instead a hidden danger.

Lu Fan had to kill it, ensuring it could only reawaken after a million years.

” I’ve naturally considered what you’ve said.” Lu Fan replied with a serious expression to the Abyssal Ancient God.

Upon hearing this, the Abyssal Ancient God felt as though everything might work out. It excitedly waved its tentacles about and asked, “How about it? Are you willing to submit to me and become my Abyss Slave? Rest assured, although I cannot yet display my full power, I can easily enhance your strength.”

“I can make you instantly undergo your Fifth Profession Change. At that time, aside from the Ancient Gods, you’ll possess unrivalled power in this world.”

“You can help me collect some things, allowing me to accelerate my awakening. If I can awaken faster than the other Ancient Gods, then I can go find those other unawakened Ancient Gods, hunt them down one by one, devour them, and enhance my own strength!”

“At that time, perhaps I’ll even become the God King of this era…”

“Wait, wait, wait…” Lu Fan interrupted the Abyssal Ancient God’s words with a smile, saying, “Look here. Everything you’re saying is about me becoming your slave, having me do things for you.”

“So, why not I do this instead? For instance, what if I kill you, then kill all the other Ancient Gods as well, and become that damned God King myself?”

“Huh?!” The Abyssal Ancient God was stunned, never having expected Lu Fan would say such a thing.

Lu Fan spread his hands and smiled. “If I can do it myself, why would I work for you? Right?”

“Kill off all 36 of you, and then I’ll be the strongest person in the world. At that time, I’ll return to my Territory, barbecue meat every day, fish, eat the meals my Auntie makes, and live out my natural lifespan peacefully. Wouldn’t that be nice?”

“I’m someone who doesn’t want much. I’m just that simple. You’re telling me to become your slave, which I already didn’t want to do. And in the future, to become second only to one and above millions? I’m even less interested in that.”

“I might as well kill off all 36 of you, and I’ll be above everyone. Everyone in this world will revere me as a hero, and no one will dare provoke me. Then, I can directly retire and live freely and happily. That’s surely better than being your dog, right?”

“You… what kind of logic is that!?” The Abyssal Ancient God, a truly ancient being who had lived through several eras, momentarily could not understand what Lu Fan was thinking.

Lu Fan chuckled and said, “This is what I call the ‘lying flat’ philosophy.”

“Right then, I’ve finished asking everything I needed to ask. It’s time to send you on your way. I know that I can’t kill you, but I can at least make you slumber for several million years more. Several million years from now, I probably won’t be around anymore. At that time, you and your gang of 36 can come out and cause trouble again.”
