Chapter 823, Reunion with Ouyang Bai Ge

Ning Shuan’er thought about it and then realised he was right.

If he wanted to shake her off, Lu Fan could have simply left her in Southern Black Port. Why bother bringing her back here? Even if he brought her back, it would be incredibly easy for Lu Fan to shake her off if he truly wanted to.

Therefore, what Lu Fan said could not be a lie or some excuse. Most likely, it was all true.

Seeing her lost in thought, Lu Fan continued, “There’s nothing to think about. If you’re afraid of death, just leave. The situation is that simple.”

Ning Shuan’er suddenly laughed and shook her head. “That’s not it. If you die, how am I supposed to pester you? If I knew a Skill to capture Souls or enslave corpses, I could consider waiting for you to die and make you my slave for the rest of your miserable existence. Unfortunately, I don’t know such a Skill. So after thinking about it, I’ve decided to stay. This way, if you’re alive, I can continue pestering you. If you die, then I’ll become a ghost and continue staying by your side. When that happens, those beautiful women around you will be gone, and perhaps you’ll develop feelings for me. When that happens, we’ll become a pair of ghost Husband and Wife. Wouldn’t that be nice?”

Lu Fan glanced at her. “Your taste is truly unique. To think you won’t let me go even as a ghost.”

Ning Shuan’er laughed. “Of course. What I, Ning Shuan’er, say, I must naturally do.”

Saying this, her expression became somewhat more solemn. “But, I still don’t wish for you to die. I hope that everything in Dragon Capital will remain peaceful and safe.”

Lu Fan could tell that this sentence came from the bottom of her heart. It seemed that after her journey to Southern Black Port, this woman’s mind had become slightly more normal.

Lu Fan’s attitude towards her improved somewhat, his tone becoming gentler. “Very well then. In that case, stay around here and protect yourself. If anything unusual happens, do your best to evacuate the residents and reduce casualties.”

“En.” Ning Shuan’er nodded, then added, “You… be careful with everything. If there’s any danger, you can leave first. I think with your strength, leaving should be quite simple.”

Lu Fan replied, “Of course. I’m not a saint. I don’t have such noble thoughts about sacrificing myself so others can live.”

“Alright, I’ll go first. Take care of yourself.” With that, Lu Fan waved his hand and walked towards the villa where Ouyang Bai Ge resided.

Lu Fan understood clearly in his heart that if the other party’s identity was truly special, if she were an enemy, then he absolutely couldn’t stake his life fighting them to the death.

If he truly was not her match, Lu Fan would definitely be the first to run.

If even he could not resolve the situation, Dragon Capital would inevitably fall. Whether he ran or not would make no difference.

Correspondingly, if he could live, there would still be hope in dealing with the Ancient Gods.

But if he died, this world would truly be finished.

Therefore, whether for public or private reasons, Lu Fan had to ensure his own safety.

As for why he could not first evacuate those in Dragon Capital before seeking out Ouyang Bai Ge, the reason was obvious.

Since the other party was at Dragon Capital University, she held not just Dragon Capital University, but all of Dragon Capital as her hostage. Trying to evacuate them right under her nose, was that not a pipe dream?

Therefore, Lu Fan could only seek out Ouyang Bai Ge like this, to see exactly what her true identity was and what her goals were.

Arriving at Ouyang Bai Ge’s villa, Lu Fan immediately noticed that the villa gate, which had always been closed, was now open. It seemed like a fierce beast opening its maw into the abyss, waiting for him to walk into a trap.

Lu Fan frowned slightly. After a brief hesitation, he still stepped forward, entering the villa.

Clearly, the other party had already detected his arrival.

Since that was the case, they might as well meet honestly and openly discuss everything.

The villa was not particularly large. Its layout was quite solemn and tidy. At a glance, one could tell the house’s owner must be someone meticulous in their daily life.

Lu Fan walked inward. The open doors were like landmarks, guiding him to a study at the very back.

Inside the study came some slight movements. It was quiet and peaceful. Throughout the entire villa, there was no killing intent or dangerous atmosphere.

However, Lu Fan did not relax his vigilance because of this, remaining fully alert.

Pushing open the study’s half-closed door, Lu Fan looked up and immediately saw an old scholarly-type elderly woman writing calligraphy with a brush at a large wooden desk.

This old lady had grey hair and wore glasses. Her temperament was kind and gentle, and she looked to be around seventy or eighty years old.

She was not particularly tall, only about 1.6 metres. Even so, she possessed considerable bearing.

“You’re back?” She did not raise her head, continuing to write, clearly greeting Lu Fan.

Lu Fan stared intently at this person, fully activating Black Dragon Perception while simultaneously throwing Appraisal at the other party, attempting to discern any abnormalities.

However, no matter how he looked, the other party was merely an ordinary Human, not some Monster that had transformed into a Human.

“En.” Although Lu Fan felt doubtful, he still responded.

Ouyang Bai Ge seemed to perceive that Lu Fan was using various Skills on her. Smiling, she put down her brush and finally raised her head, saying to Lu Fan. “No need to use Skills on me. You won’t see anything.”

“Dragon Capital is Dragon Country’s Capital. There are many Fifth Profession Players hidden here, yet even they don’t know of my existence. Although you’re strong, your Level is still too low. Your Mechanics Level is not enough, so naturally you won’t see anything.”

Lu Fan narrowed his eyes slightly, gleaning some information from the other party’s words. “So you’re not Ouyang Bai Ge?”

Ouyang Bai Ge smiled. “No, I am Ouyang Bai Ge. However, I’m not only Ouyang Bai Ge.”

“In that case, who exactly are you?” Lu Fan asked.

Ouyang Bai Ge smiled. “Do you truly wish to know who I am?”

“Indeed, after this trip to the Abyssal Rift, you must have many doubts about me. Wanting to know who I am is normal. Rest assured, I have no malicious intent. If I did, Dragon Capital’s millions of lives would have long since perished.”

“But since you wish to know who I am, I’ll let you see. After all, what I want to discuss with you next is very important. If I don’t even reveal my own identity, you won’t believe me, right?” With that, Ouyang Bai Ge revealed an eerie smile.

The next second, her head suddenly exploded, red and white matter splattering everywhere.
