Chapter 813, Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy

Translator: Silavin

When one thought about it, it made sense. The High Tier Ancient Gods must naturally be more powerful, and they should be able to awaken more quickly than other Ancient Gods and enhance their strength faster.

Currently, within the scope of the entire world, the only known Ancient Gods that were actively moving were the Holy Mountain Ancient God and the Fallen Corpse Ancient God.

These two great Ancient Gods were bringing harm to Dragon Country and Star Strip Country, causing both great nations to be somewhat stretched thin for the time being.

As for other places, there had been no reports of Ancient God activity yet.

Being able to awaken first and manifest such formidable abilities, the strength of these two Ancient Gods was evident. They truly lived up to their status as High Tier Ancient Gods.

Having one of these two High Tier Ancient Gods at Dragon Country’s border was a disaster.

Ancient Gods were already exceedingly difficult to deal with, let alone a High Tier Ancient God that was about to fully awaken.

Lu Fan pondered for a moment, thinking that perhaps this Abyssal Ancient God could be put to good use.

It was quite obvious that, as an Ancient God itself, it was rather well-informed about the other 35 Ancient Gods.

If he could extract from this creature’s mouth the locations where the other Ancient Gods were hidden, then wouldn’t he be able to hunt them down and eliminate them one by one before they truly awakened?

Take this Abyssal Ancient God, for instance. Although it was already a Level 150 Boss in its Larval Phase, Lu Fan could still handle it.

If all the Ancient Gods could be killed by Lu Fan at this stage, then the threats Humanity would need to face in the future would be significantly reduced.

After all, if he could choose, Lu Fan would definitely prefer to deal with just a few Ancient Gods in the future.

Facing 35 Ancient Gods simultaneously, how was that even a fight!?

And so, Lu Fan asked in a heavy voice, “Since you understand the Ancient Gods so well, do you know where the other Ancient Gods are slumbering?”

“How would I know that!?” the Abyssal Ancient God replied. “We Ancient Gods are not in some kind of an alliance. For us Ancient Gods, we exist in a competitive relationship with one another. The Mission of us Ancient Gods is to accumulate strength, awaken, and then slaughter all living beings. We are to absorb all their Life Essence. After that, we fight amongst ourselves.”

“This final step of mutual combat is something we call the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy.”

“Every Ancient God, unless they have already perished prematurely, must participate in the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy. It is to determine who shall become the ultimate God King.”

Lu Fan listened with furrowed brows. “God King? Why must you become the God King? Why must you Ancient Gods engage in a fight for no good reason?”

“The God King holds profound significance!” The Abyssal Ancient God said. “The so-called God King is able to initiate the starting point of the next world cycle. The rules of the next world will all be determined by the God King. One could say that whoever becomes the God King will become the Creator God of the next world, the one who wields the greatest authority!”

“The current world is divided into levels, with Players and Monsters. These rules were all created by the God King. Even existences as powerful as Divine Beings and Giant Dragons, though they can preserve seeds for the opening of the next great era, allowing their powerful Bloodlines to appear in the next era of creation, they must still submit to these rules.”

Lu Fan felt his head spinning as he listened, only half-understanding what the Abyssal Ancient God was saying.

However, he could roughly make out that, according to what the other party was claiming, the Ancient God who won the title of God King in the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy would be qualified to serve as the Creator God and establish the world’s rules.

The world having Players and Levels was not simply a matter of game invading reality.

The game invading reality was merely the rules established by the God King.

This was equivalent to say that this world would reach a critical juncture after the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy.

And the next juncture, the next opening, under what rules it would commence, that depended entirely on the God King’s will.

As such, the so-called God King could indeed be called the Creator God of this world. The significance was truly profound.

With this thought, Lu Fan asked again, “So which Ancient God created this current era?”

“That I do not know.” The Abyssal Ancient God replied. “The hierarchical distinction among Ancient Gods is based on the order of death in the last Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy. I fought against them and was the thirteenth to die in battle, so I am ranked as the first among the Mid Tier Ancient Gods.”

“I know who the High Tier Ancient Gods are, but I do not know who ultimately became the God King.”

“I suppose I’ll find out when the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy comes, since the God King would inevitably have transformed this world’s rules to make it more suitable for them to enhance their own strength. After all, they would want to secure the next God King title too.”

“Therefore, whoever holds the advantage in this era is most likely the God King from the previous era.”

Lu Fan thought for a moment, then asked. “Since you Ancient Gods must still fight amongst yourselves and will inevitably perish, how can you promise me that I can obtain power and such things? When you die, won’t I still have to die? At least from my perspective, you currently don’t seem to have the qualifications to compete for the God King position, right?”

“Never mind anything else. Just the Fallen Corpse Ancient God and the Holy Mountain Ancient God alone are countless times stronger than you!”

As if offended by Lu Fan’s words, the Abyssal Ancient God’s tone became somewhat displeased, though he did not become enraged. Instead, he explained. “Even if I die, you won’t necessarily die.”

“Us Ancient Gods are indeed fated to purge all living beings from this world, but aside from killing people, we can also control living beings through the method of Ancient God Slaves, making them our servants. Therefore, I will inevitably have millions of slaves under my command, and you will be above those millions. You will be second only to me!”

“The Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy will also continue for tens of thousands of years. These tens of thousands of years are also called the Apocalypse. During these tens of thousands of years, you will still be able to enjoy everything you’ve obtained from me. Moreover, even when I must ultimately fight against the other Ancient Gods and die in battle, I can seal you away beforehand. After the next world opens, you will gradually accumulate strength and reawaken.”

“At that time, your power will surely overwhelm the living beings of that era. Not only will you become a supreme existence, but you’ll also be able to lay the foundation for my rapid reawakening.”

The Abyssal Ancient God’s words reminded Lu Fan of the Blood Moon’s Owner.

Most likely, the Blood Moon’s Owner was just such an existence, sealed away by the Fallen Corpse Ancient God and awakened in this era.

[So you want me to become an existence like the Blood Moon’s Owner?] This truly made Lu Fan laugh inside.

He remained impassive and continued, “So, you temporarily don’t know where the other Ancient Gods are either, correct?”

“Not necessarily.” The Abyssal Ancient God replied. “Actually, the locations of the Ancient Gods can still be traced.”
