Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 817, Abyssal Source

Lu Fan waved his hand directly, dispersing the glow from the item.

At this moment, he finally saw what lay beneath the glowing light.

This object was a crystal orb the size of a fist. Within the crystal orb, there were countless tentacles coiling and writhing like living creatures, making one’s scalp tingle at the sight.

It seemed as though this crystal orb was a vessel, sealing a terrifying existence inside.

This made Lu Fan somewhat uncomfortable, because he did not know whether breaking this crystal orb would cause the Abyssal Ancient God to reappear.

Although Lu Fan was not necessarily afraid of the Abyssal Ancient God in its current state, having such a ticking time bomb by his side made him feel uneasy.

After thinking it over, Lu Fan decided to first use Appraisal to see exactly what this thing was.

Thus, he cast Appraisal and successfully obtained information about this item.

Abyssal Source: (Mythical Grade Special Item).
Description: A partial source of the Abyssal Ancient God’s Divine Power. By absorbing it, one might comprehend part of the Ancient God’s power and gain the qualification to participate in the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy. However, if used improperly, one might also be dragged into the Abyss by the Abyssal Ancient God, unable to return alive.

After reading this, Lu Fan could not help but be stunned. [Wait. Isn’t this Heaven Defying!?]

In summary, this was a portion of the source of the Abyssal Ancient God’s power. If one could absorb it, they might gain Ancient God’s power and even obtain the qualification to participate in Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy!

In other words, while the Ancient Gods were eternal existences, and frighteningly powerful, their position was not unshakeable!

If Lu Fan could obtain part of the Ancient God’s power and develop it, wouldn’t he essentially be half an Ancient God?

Furthermore, what if he obtained the qualification to be the God King?

Then wouldn’t Lu Fan be able to decide and prevent this world from heading towards its end, instead allowing it to continue?

He might even be able to create a world without Ancient Gods, letting the Ancient Gods sleep forever, never to awaken again.

This way, the Ancient God calamity could be completely resolved, no longer a cycle of millions of years, where countless lives were buried with each round.

Honestly, upon seeing the description of the Abyssal Source, Lu Fan was truly tempted.

His temptation was not about becoming an Ancient God or obtaining supreme authority and power.

Rather, he was tempted by the possibility of using the Ancient Gods’ power and Mechanics to fight against them. This way, they would not be completely helpless, only hoping to suppress them before they awakened.

“Obtaining a portion of Ancient God’s power to fight against Ancient Gods might be a feasible approach. Otherwise, the Mechanics each Ancient God possesses basically transcends all living beings in this world. Even Dragon Kings would likely find it difficult to contend with them.”

“Otherwise, the Frost Dragon King and the Life Dragon King wouldn’t have been chased out of their homes so miserably by a suspected Ancient God.”

“I’m afraid it is impossible to gather the power of all Giant Dragons to eliminate the 36 Ancient Gods. But if I could become an Ancient God instead, perhaps I could master a method to defeat them?”

“Using the Ancient Gods’ rules to check and balance the Ancient Gods might be the only solution to the upcoming apocalypse. But…” Thinking of this, Lu Fan’s eyes narrowed slightly. “If this thing is the Profession Change material that Ouyang Bai Ge wanted me to retrieve, that would be far too strange.”

“Ouyang Bai Ge clearly knows the tenth Secret Realm inside and out, which means she knows the Abyssal Ancient God is hidden here. She should also know that when I kill the Abyssal Ancient God, this Abyssal Source would inevitably drop.”

“Theoretically speaking, even with the Abyssal Ancient God being so weak, ordinary people shouldn’t know of its hiding place. Only those with sufficient strength would encounter it. Even other Ancient Gods might not be able to find the Abyssal Ancient God. How did Ouyang Bai Ge, a professor at Dragon Capital University, possibly know it is here?”

“I definitely don’t believe this is all coincidence. There is definitely something off with Ouyang Bai Ge!”

“How is it possible for the Abyssal Source to be one of the materials I need for my Fourth Profession Change? If not, what is Ouyang Bai Ge’s goal in having me kill the Abyssal Ancient God?”

“If it is, and I use material that can grant me an Ancient God’s power for my Fourth Profession Change, what difference will there be between my Fourth Profession and an ordinary Fourth Profession!?”

Now, with the revelation that the Final Boss of the tenth Secret Realm was an Ancient God, Lu Fan noticed there were far too many things he did not understand.

The key to everything lay in who exactly this Ouyang Bai Ge was!

Without a doubt, this person was absolutely not a simple University professor!

Lu Fan now wished he could immediately return to Dragon Capital University to ask who Ouyang Bai Ge truly was.

Having such an existence concealed in the Dragon Capital was definitely a ticking time bomb!

However, being anxious now was useless. The other party had been lurking at Dragon Capital University for who knows how long. If she wanted to do something, she probably would have done it already.

Up until now, the other party had made no move, perhaps waiting for Lu Fan to return.

Therefore, Lu Fan did not need to rush back to Dragon Capital University immediately.

After confirming this object would not cause the Abyssal Ancient God to reappear, Lu Fan put it away and left the Secret Realm.

Outside the Secret Realm, the sky had already darkened considerably.

Cui Ziyi and Ning Shuan’er, along with several people from the Heavenly Dragon Gang, waited to welcome Lu Fan back.

However, these people all looked somewhat anxious, because after Lu Fan entered the Secret Realm, half a day had already passed, yet there was no sign of him coming out.

One must know that previously when Lu Fan cleared Secret Realms, he was steamrolling through. No matter what Monster it was, he would instantly kill it.

Therefore, Cui Ziyi and the others felt that it should not take long for Lu Fan to Clear the tenth Secret Realm.

But now Lu Fan had been in the Secret Realm for so long without any news. This made them wonder whether there was some problem with this Secret Realm, such that even an expert like Lu Fan might perish inside.

If there was no news about Lu Fan soon, they would truly believe that Lu Fan would never come back.

Just as everyone was getting anxious, the Secret Realm’s Transport Array suddenly showed an anomaly. A figure stepped out from within.

He was naturally Lu Fan.

“You’ve finally come out!” Before Cui Ziyi could speak, Ning Shuan’er, surprisingly more excited than her, stepped forward to check if Lu Fan was injured.

Her heartfelt concern made Lu Fan extremely uncomfortable. He instinctively stepped back, avoiding Cui Ziyi, and frowned. “It’s just a Secret Realm. Of course I could come out.”
