Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 248: The Baronʼs Hiding Place

After Lin Yu grabbed Fu Luo by the collar and dragged him to Carriage 3, the piled-up corpses throughout the carriage once again confirmed that Li Nianʼs words werenʼt just empty threats.

Fu Luo couldnʼt help but feel relieved that he had made the right choice.

After the team regrouped, Lin Yu decided it was time to formally meet this Baron Coleman.

Passing through the door marked with ”ROLL” indicating randomness.

Perhaps because this group had decent luck, they reached a completely new carriage on their first attempt.

Unlike any carriage they had seen before, even the artistic style felt somewhat different.

It more closely resembled the connection spaces between carriages—those dark, narrow areas filled with canned eyeballs.

This carriage was equally dim, with only the glowing red D-2 carriage number visible in the darkness.

The only other light sources came from faint white lights at the bases of large stacked containers on both sides.

Except these containers no longer held eyeballs.
The front row of containers held various organs.

Some contained hearts, others stomachs and brains, though their sizes and shapes didnʼt appear human.

Behind several rows of organ containers were sleeping, pale human bodies—men and women, young and old, all with different builds, curled up in some invisible liquid as if nestled in swaddling clothes.

”This Carriage 2 is seriously creepy,” Li Nian remarked with feeling.

Chen Zhuo felt even more chilled, shrinking fearfully into the middle of the group.

This time he became the most timid one among them.

Because Fu Luo remained quite calm, as if these things couldnʼt frighten him.

”So this is indeed the modified core section of the Despair Train,” Fu Luo stepped forward and tapped on a container, watching as fluorescent bubbles scattered through the liquid inside. ”These ʼorgan containersʼ are ʼemotional amplificationʼ devices...”

”Combined with those ʼeyeball containersʼ from before serving as ʼemotional detectionʼ devices, this train is indeed a very standard energy supply unit design.”

Fu Luoʼs explanation left everyone stunned and bewildered.

Lin Yu instinctively asked: ”What about those containers holding people behind them?”

”Excellent question... theyʼre backup material containers,” Fu Luo answered with a look of disgust.

Hearing Fu Luoʼs explanation, even Pang Kedo, former Truth Corporation employee, couldnʼt help speaking up.

”Might I ask who exactly you are? You wouldnʼt happen to be some high-ranking corporate official too?”

Even he wasnʼt entirely clear about these details!

Fu Luo just smiled: ”Old friend, you lost your memory first, then got locked up here for so long—of course you wouldnʼt know who I am... If you were still outside properly serving as field team leader, you should know my identity.”

”Oh wow, heʼs really putting on airs now,” Li Nian remarked with feeling.

But she had to admit, Fu Luo truly knew plenty.

Even Pan Yuqiang set aside her previous dismissiveness.

”It seems the organizationʼs assessment of him was indeed accurate.”

Lin Yu also looked at Fu Luo: ”Since you say this carriage is important, what suggestions do you have?”

He knew Fu Luoʼs capabilities quite well.

This guy had survived eighteen dungeons without promotion or death, which itself proved that someone who couldnʼt even beat robots must have exceptional abilities in certain aspects.

Chen Zhuo safely surviving four dungeons was similar—this chubby guy not only had good luck and substantial resources, but also a natural affinity.

Though a standard Otaku, encountering someone like him in a Death Game dungeon... most people probably wouldnʼt even consider harming him.

The same applied to Fu Luo.

But she had to admit, Fu Luo truly knew plenty.

Especially since they had also faced a mess left by ”Truth Corporation” that time.

Indeed, after brief consideration, Fu Luo spoke up.

”If Iʼm not mistaken, Baron Coleman, you should already be watching us, right?”

”Or rather, youʼre not in Carriage 1... but right here, correct?”

As he spoke, Fu Luo spread his hands.

Wang Yuyang looked at Fu Luo: ”Furbollo, whatʼs going on?”

Lin Yu however realized: ”Heʼs bluffing the Baron.”

Fu Luo calmly withdrew his hands, expression neutral: ”Unfortunately, heʼs not here so my bluff didnʼt work...”

Having actually witnessed Fu Luoʼs full deductive capabilities during the mountain dungeon, Lin Yu greatly trusted Fu Luoʼs judgment in these mystery-filled ”dungeons.”

Chen Zhuo couldnʼt help looking at Fu Luo with admiration: ”Fuzi, youʼre really something! Iʼd be dying of embarrassment!”

Fu Luo smiled slightly: ”I am dying of embarrassment—just putting on a brave face right now.”

”That damned Baron Coleman made me lose all face!”

Li Nian chuckled helplessly: ”Ahaha, youʼre quite interesting, Furbollo.”

”Just your professional skills arenʼt quite up to par though.”

Furbolloʼs face flushed even redder: ”I was just testing randomly—analysis requires trial and error anyway.”

But Lin Yu suddenly spoke up.

”No, Furbolloʼs analysis wasnʼt wrong.”

After saying this, he walked toward one particular container.

This container was mixed among the ”material containers,” containing a somewhat tall, well-proportioned man floating inside with knees drawn to his chest.

Lin Yu tapped on the container.

”Respected Baron, the playing dead can end now.”

The container showed no movement.

”Not admitting it? Fair enough... After all, my ʼcompanionʼ just tried bluffing, and you probably have some method of reading othersʼ emotions.”

”Seems Iʼll need to provide reasoning convincing enough for you... Though honestly, I was simply playing spot-the-difference,” Lin Yu calmly looked at the other containers. ”All the remaining containers hold men and women, young and old, but they share one common trait...”

”Emaciated to an unhealthy degree.”

”Theyʼre probably from Sleepless Cityʼs lower levels—whether selling their bodies to Truth Corporation or among the ʼdisappearedʼ population...”

”Anyway, your physique is too healthy, sir—with a build like this, youʼre definitely no ʼExpendable Material,ʼ at least not the kind meant to be preserved in these containers.”

As he spoke, Lin Yu continued calmly.

”Of course, after noticing this and observing more carefully, your posture also seems designed to block your face and vital areas.”

”And your liquid... has different light refraction properties, probably because yours needs to sustain life while the others only need preservation.”

The man inside the container opened his eyes and stretched his form.

Unlike the completely naked bodies, he wore extremely tight shorts, and his curled-up face was covered with some high-tech mask.

Through the containerʼs transparent shell, he looked at Lin Yu.

Then, a voice clearer than before but still with some electrical static sounded throughout the carriage.

”Extremely clever.”

”Pleased to meet you, respected lady.”
