Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 242: Negotiation and Deterrence

Hearing Pang Kedoʼs statement, Lin Yu felt a headache coming on.

He knew things would develop like this!

Bringing up Vale Valetti in front of Li Nian and Chen Zhuo was one thing...

But now he had to reveal his connection with Truth Corporation in front of the Psychological Society members.

This wasnʼt what Lin Yu wanted to see.

But since things had already happened, Lin Yu could only accept it.

He looked at Wang Yuyang with a calm expression.

”I can vouch for him for now—and besides, A Nian and I already subdued him once before.”

”If Pang Kedo causes any trouble again, Iʼll take responsibility for dealing with him.”

Lin Yu spoke calmly.
Seeing Lin Yuʼs resolute attitude, Wang Yuyang could only relent.

He just lowered his voice and said something admonishing in a tone Lin Yu could hear: ”Donʼt trust NPCs in dungeons too much. Truth Corporation was never a proper company to begin with.”

”This person, being a former Truth Corporation employee who went mad and was dumped here, means heʼs involved in many things.”

”Youʼre still First-Tier, no need to bind yourself too deeply with any specific faction within the dungeon.”

Knowing Wang Yuyang meant well, Lin Yu nodded.

”I understand.”

After this small interlude, the six of them finally set out, though Wang Yuyang maintained a somewhat guarded posture.

After all, bringing Pang Kedo along certainly carried hidden risks, but it also meant having an additional helper.

Moreover, Pang Kodoʼs identity on this train still had other useful applications.

They arrived inside carriage 3, then opened the door leading to carriage 9.

After stepping through the door, chaotic noises filled the space, along with a smell similar to something fermented.

This carriage clearly had a futuristic design, yet at this moment Lin Yu felt like he was in an old green-skinned train.

Compared to carriage 3 which only had some boxes piled up and a few mats spread on the floor, carriage 9 showed much more obvious signs of modification.

The carriage was divided into left and right halves by a long curtain, with seats converted into beds using frames, and various worn-out buckets used for water storage and storage.

It looked like these people had been living in this carriage for quite some time.

Seven or eight tramp-like men with messy, unkempt hair occupied one side;more than ten youngsters who didnʼt look very old occupied the other side.

Seeing Lin Yuʼs group emerge from the door of carriage 3, the tallest among the youngsters stood up warily first, raising an iron rod polished at both ends.

”Carriage 3? Airport Gang people?”

”Why are you coming uninvited? This is Blue Blood Team territory!”

In this carriage 9, there was even a barbed wire fence stretched across the corridor between the door and the carriage!

Through the barbed wire fence, Lin Yu stepped forward.

”Weʼre newly joined Airport Gang members, wanted to understand the ecosystem within the Despair Train, so our boss said we could come take a look ourselves.”

The tall youngster with the iron rod heard this and looked suspicious: ”Since when did the Airport Gang boss become so lax with his subordinates?”

He turned to look at those tramp-like men.

”Hey, Iron Thorn guys, whatʼs going on here?”

The tramps who had been sitting together as if playing cards turned back, saying carelessly: ”Oh, their boss was originally from a delinquent background... itʼs normal for team management to be sometimes loose, sometimes tight.”

”That guy never had much brains anyway!”

Through this simple interaction, Lin Yu made a judgment in his heart.

The two organizations entrenched in carriage 9 should have some kind of delicate symbiotic relationship.

The Blue Blood Team was more dominant, holding the leading position.

But these Iron Thorn people had probably been on this Despair Train for a long time, so the Blue Blood Team didnʼt eliminate them, instead keeping them as their advisors and encyclopedia.

Thinking this, Lin Yu already had a measure of how to proceed with the negotiation.

”Iron Thorn everyone, although I just joined, isnʼt it inappropriate to slander our boss like this?”

He bypassed the Blue Blood Team youngster and directly addressed the Iron Thorn people in a provocative tone.

Although Zhu Mingʼs voice was relatively soft, Lin Yuʼs tone at this moment was extremely fierce.

The tall Blue Blood Team youngster frowned, tapping the iron rod on the floor.

”Hey, newcomer, didnʼt your boss warn you before coming here not to cause trouble in my territory?”

For a moment, the previously lazily resting Blue Blood Team members gradually stood up, all looking unfavorably at Lin Yu.

Lin Yu stood there with an unchanged expression.

Seeing Lin Yuʼs calm demeanor, a scruffy uncle from Iron Thorn instead realized something.

”Tang, donʼt get excited yet, this guy is deliberately provoking you.”

He looked at Lin Yu, a glint of sharpness flashing in his eyes beneath dirty eyelids.

”Although this train is full of fools and foolishness... you donʼt seem to be a fool.”

”What exactly is your purpose in coming here.”

Being questioned so warily by the other party, Lin Yu didnʼt seem very surprised.

He gripped the gaps in the barbed wire fence and spoke softly.

”You guessed right, I came here to ask you about someone.”

”ʼBaronʼ.”

As Lin Yu spoke, the Blue Blood Team people became agitated again.

”You want to find Lord Baron?”

”Airport Gang people wanting to find Baron—why come to us instead of your own boss?”

”What exactly do you mean!”

The scruffy uncle from Iron Thorn smiled: ”This guy isnʼt some Airport Gang newcomer, she should indeed have just boarded the train... but this short time onboard was enough.”

”What happened to the Airport Gang people?”

Lin Yu wasnʼt surprised at all that his lie was exposed—on the contrary, if such a crude plan of impersonating the Airport Gang could actually succeed smoothly, that would be strange!

Even if Truth Corporation had released a herd of pigs onto the Despair Train, those who survived wave after wave of cleansing and mutual slaughter should have produced at least some wild boar spirits by now.

But why did he still choose to propose this plan, and why did Li Nian and Wang Yuyang also express agreement?

Because...

The moment this lie was exposed, the truth revealed at that time would instead make ”negotiation” proceed more smoothly.

Lin Yu looked at the scruffy tramp and grinned: ”You found us out... well, those guys werenʼt very cooperative, so they were dealt with.”

”I hope you can be more cooperative—I have no interest in you, I just want to find ʼBaronʼ now.”

Lin Yu spoke calmly, his tone full of threatening implications.

This was even more effective than directly telling them ”we wiped out the entire Airport Gang.”

”Fuck, you threatening us?”

”You think weʼre like those Airport Gang trash? Before they were dumped here, they were just scum, garbage, low-level delinquents who only knew petty theft and intimidating civilians, only thrown up here because they offended someone!”

”Weʼre not like those idiots! We come from the Great Wasteland, weʼve legitimately robbed Truth Corporation convoys!”

Indeed, the Blue Blood Team leader, though looking somewhat displeased, cursed fiercely a few times for show.

But judging from his actions and those of his followers behind him...

They were still intimidated.

They just needed some ”reason” to convince them—or rather, a ”reason” for them to convince themselves, a ”step down” that would allow them to retreat, and they would probably relent.

And this reason wasnʼt hard to find.

Lin Yu looked behind him where the other five were still hidden in the shadows, only blurry outlines visible from outside.

”Put on your hood and come out for a walk.”

He said to Pang Kedo, who nodded.

Then, the famous ”madman” of the Truth Train revealed himself.

That iconic uniform and chest spray paint instantly silenced the entire carriage.

Lin Yu smiled and said: ”Everyone, I really have legitimate business looking for Baron.”

”Could everyone please do me this convenience, how about it?”
