Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 225: Li Nian’s Reasoning and the Expected Conclusion

The moment Li Nian uttered the words ”Psychological Society,” she could feel Lin Yuʼs aura instantly turn icy cold.

But soon enough, Lin Yu regained his composure.

”As expected of the Free Alliance. Choosing you was indeed the right decision... Your investigation speed is faster than I imagined, and youʼve dug deeper than I expected.”

Li Nian laughed.

”Hey, this has nothing to do with the Free Alliance—itʼs purely because Iʼm just that amazing!”

As she spoke, Li Nian pulled out a register with a flourish.

”Ta-da—Psychological Society Internal Assessment List Summary, combined edition for the first half of this year! I spent an entire weekend stealing this!”

Li Nian said cheerfully, casually flipping through the register as they walked.

”After you gave me that hint about ʼZhu Mingʼ last time, I went back and searched for quite a while, finally finding your name and information from two months ago—name Xia Yue, location Jiangcheng, rating confidential...”

”Having a confidential rating in Psychological Society internal documents means youʼre at least A-rank or higher... Impressive stuff, Sister Zhu Ming!”
Li Nian said with a playful grin, while Lin Yuʼs expression remained calm.

”This is actually the first time Iʼve heard that they rated me A or above...”

”However, Iʼd like to hear how you reached the conclusion that I deceived them.”

Lin Yu spoke calmly, and Li Nian laughed.

”Ha... Hearing that I investigated this alone, you want to verify my capabilities, is that it?”

”Hey, donʼt underestimate me—Iʼve already pieced together the entire story from beginning to end!”

Li Nian declared with full confidence.

”Based on my understanding of the Psychological Society, they dispatch specialists corresponding to the potential level of the ordinary person they kill. Since you were a non-player ordinary person with A-rank or higher potential, that means whoever killed you was... A-rank or S-rank.”

”And as far as I know, the only Psychological Society member of that level who recently came to Jiangcheng was ʼFluoxetineʼ—Jiangcheng is too special. If A-rank or S-rank personnel from the Psychological Society entered, they couldnʼt possibly leave completely unnoticed after killing someone.”

”As I continued my investigation, I discovered... you were actually already ʼdead.ʼ”

”One month ago, you ʼdiedʼ in an ʼaccidentʼ at your workplace and were pronounced dead after ʼfailed resuscitation attemptsʼ—I read the report, and it definitely looks like Fluoxetineʼs work.”

”But this creates a ʼcontradictionʼ... because your ʼdeathʼ wasnʼt erased.”

”Moreover, if you were still an ordinary person at that time, you couldnʼt possibly have experienced eight dungeons and completed your Promotion by now.”

Li Nian paused before continuing, ”So, although this possibility seemed extremely small, the fact that you yourself are standing here safe and sound, alive and kicking as a First-Tier player, proves one thing.”

”That you accomplished what I originally thought was an improbable event.”

”Youʼre even more of a genius and more interesting than I imagined... One month ago, you deceived Fluoxetine—an S-rank Execution Department specialist of the Psychological Society—making her believe she had actually killed you.”

”Not only that, you deceived the entire Psychological Society—almost immediately after being assessed two months ago, you actually ʼdied accidentallyʼ and joined the Death Game.”

”Even the timing of your ʼassessmentʼ might have been after you joined the Death Game—itʼs just that those Psychological Society guys completely failed to notice!”

”But... for an entire month, you never revealed this, leading the Psychological Society to mistakenly believe you were still an ordinary person, which is why they dispatched Fluoxetine again to try to kill you.”

”After being attacked by Fluoxetine, not understanding her motives or why a high-level player had come to kill you, you made a calculated decision to fake your death—this time, you even deceived your family, friends, and the Jiangcheng police!”

”If I hadnʼt secretly infiltrated the place storing your ʼbodyʼ yesterday and seen that the cold storage cabinet was empty with your ʼcorpseʼ completely missing, I probably would have fallen into the same misconception.”

”Of course, this also explains why you suddenly showed up at my place three weeks ago wanting to join the Free Alliance... After a week, you must have figured out that the Psychological Society was behind what happened to you, right?”

”Except at that time, you didnʼt know they mistakenly thought you were an ʼordinary personʼ trying to send you into the Death Game. You just thought they were targeting you for some unknown reason, which scared you into quickly seeking to join an organization for companionship and protection, correct?”

At this point, Li Nian looked quite pleased with herself.

”Although you gave me many hints—I ultimately solved this mystery.”

”So, how about it? My assessment... I should count as having passed perfectly, right?”

Li Nian said triumphantly, and Lin Yu nodded.

”Your analysis is basically correct, at least the objective facts are right.”

”The only flaw is... that day I came to find you, I wasnʼt panicking and seeking shelter out of fear. I had simply realized that my ʼstrategyʼ had been heading in the wrong direction all along.”

”Complete low-profile and hiding myself would still drag me into inexplicable dangers... The moment I became a player, some mysterious fate destined that I could no longer continue living a peaceful life.”

Lin Yu explained calmly.

Although his surface remained composed, with only slight traces of surprise, appreciation, and pride showing on his face, internally...

Lin Yu was immersed in immense delight at his planʼs success.

Yes, this was exactly the script he had written for ”Zhu Ming,” aka ”Xia Yue.”

That Li Nian could reason in this direction and reach the conclusion he most wanted...

This was perfect!

Simultaneously, he once again marveled at how Chen Zhuo was truly his lucky star!

From Li Nianʼs tone, Lin Yu could deduce that not only had she completed this investigation and reasoning herself, but she also apparently hadnʼt told anyone else about it yet.

So these deductions must have been fully completed just after meeting Chen Zhuo...

Or rather, after meeting Chen Zhuo and using him as a ”witness” who had seen ”Zhu Ming” in the dungeon to corroborate her reasoning, she became confident in her deductions.

This was the real reason Lin Yu had suddenly called Li Nian over on a whim earlier!

But if Chen Zhuo hadnʼt coincidentally been recruiting people, Lin Yu wouldnʼt have had the opportunity to naturally bring Li Nian and Chen Zhuo into contact.

This ”lie” becoming truth would probably have taken much longer.

And once there was that first instance of ”belief,” this ”lie” would almost become actual ”fact.”

Since he wanted to join the Free Alliance, Li Nian would definitely tell the other members of this organization.

And the members of the Free Alliance would become even more powerful evidence that ”Xia Yueʼs” experiences were genuine.

Sure enough, after receiving Lin Yuʼs affirmative response, Li Nian excitedly exclaimed: ”Ahahaha, I really found a treasure... Deciding to let you undergo assessment was definitely the right choice!”

”A genius who could trick both the Psychological Society and Fluoxetine, fabricating his own death for a full month without being discovered—everyone will be thrilled to have you join us.”

”And—that ʼComedianʼ guy is going to absolutely adore you!”

”Iʼm looking forward to tomorrow nightʼs dungeon... and the day you officially join us.”
