Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 220: Another Weakness

After reviewing his studies throughout the entire weekend at home, Lin Yu felt confident about the exams during finals week.

He had always been quite diligent with his studies, and coupled with his passion for performance, he consistently completed group assignments and attendance requirements thoroughly.

Although he had skipped more classes than usual over the past month due to the Death Game, his regular assessment scores were definitely quite high.

Moreover, since Lin Yu now had substantial financial resources and no longer needed to rely on scholarship money to support his household expenses, his exam goal had shifted to simply passing...

Therefore, Lin Yu felt fairly confident about passing his exams.

After completing his weekend studies, Lin Yu decided to start dealing with Death Game matters again.

He rode his bicycle, preparing to address the final loophole regarding the identities of ”Xia Yue” and ”Zhu Ming.”

Before long, Lin Yu arrived at Jiangcheng No. 6 High School, which he had visited once before.

After all...

If he wanted to merge the identities of ”Zhu Ming” and ”Xia Yue,” the final loophole was Chen Zhuo!
Surprisingly, even after a month had passed, the security guard actually recognized Lin Yu.

”Oh hey, young man, here to deliver books to your brother again?”

The gatekeeper said cheerfully, but Lin Yu shook his head.

”Not this time, sir. He forgot his phone, and his family has guests coming over tonight. They booked a restaurant outside, so his parents asked me to come tell him to go straight to the restaurant after school.”

Lin Yu replied with a smile, casually fabricating a lie that the gatekeeper wouldnʼt suspect even if he thought about it ten times over.

Naturally, the guard let Lin Yu in.

With his previous experience, Lin Yu first confirmed that Chen Zhuoʼs class wasnʼt having PE on the sports field before heading to the teaching building.

Arriving at the door of Class 5, Grade 11, Lin Yu peeked through the back window and saw they were having an English class.

Chen Zhuo was sound asleep at the very back row.

Lin Yu checked the time - less than ten minutes until class ended - so he simply waited by the classroomʼs back door.

Soon enough, the bell rang for the end of class.

After the teacher left, Lin Yu directly stopped a student at the doorway.

”Classmate, could you please call Chen Zhuo? Tell him his family needs to see him about something.”

The stopped student naturally didnʼt refuse and immediately ran into the classroom to shake Chen Zhuo awake.

”Brother Zhuo, Brother Zhuo, wake up!”

”Your family came to school looking for you!”

Watching the drowsy Chen Zhuo wake up, Lin Yu contemplated the situation.

Judging by the attitude of the messenger just now, it seemed Chen Zhuo hadnʼt been bullied by his classmates since last time.

In fact, he seemed to be doing quite well in class?

That made sense - after all, he had experienced three more dungeons since last time... his abilities must have improved further.

Even if he wouldnʼt use those [items] against ordinary people, the strong mentality forged through life-and-death battles was far beyond what ordinary students could match.

He just didnʼt know...

Now that Chen Zhuo had a deeper understanding of the ”Death Game” and had matured more, would he see through the lies Lin Yu had told before?

After waking up, Chen Zhuo looked around and quickly spotted Lin Yu standing at the doorway.

A flash of pleasant surprise crossed his face as he quickly walked toward Lin Yu.

Sensing the ”belief” emanating from the other party, Lin Yu curled his lips.

Well, at least for now...

This chubby kid still regarded him as the ”Game Master.”

Chen Zhuo quickly approached Lin Yu and spoke with some excitement.

”Game Master, what brings you here?”

”Letʼs find a quiet place to talk!”

Saying this, Chen Zhuo led Lin Yu quickly toward the storage room at the corridor corner.

Several delinquent-looking students were already smoking there, but when they saw Chen Zhuo bringing someone over, they immediately straightened up.

”Brother Zhuo!”

Chen Zhuo nodded: ”Clear out for a bit. I need to talk with my cousin.”

As he spoke, he pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and tossed it over. Several hooligans who didnʼt look like good students replied with cheeky grins.

”Sure thing, Brother Zhuo! You and our big brother have a good chat!”

With that, the hooligans left the relatively quiet space to Chen Zhuo and Lin Yu.

Watching the scene just now, Lin Yu couldnʼt help but feel even more impressed.

Not only was Chen Zhuo doing well - he was doing even better than Lin Yu had imagined!

”Learned to smoke?”

Lin Yu asked, looking at Chen Zhuo.

Chen Zhuo shook his head with pretended profundity: ”Just learned how to manage people, thatʼs all.”

”Having power alone only makes others fear you. Having power and being willing to share benefits with others makes them respect you!”

Chen Zhuo stated with conviction.

Lin Yu chuckled helplessly: ”Which anime or novel is that line from?”

Chen Zhuo broke character too, scratching his head and smiling sheepishly: ”Made it up myself...”

”I donʼt smoke, I just found that after they confirmed I could fight well, giving them cigarettes helps maintain a decent relationship.”

”They bullied you before - never thought about getting revenge?”

Lin Yu said, looking at Chen Zhuo.

Chen Zhuo grinned: ”Thought about it, but... well, I already fought them once. After that, it just seemed pointless.”

”I just want nobody to bully me. I donʼt want to bully others or get revenge by bullying them back.”

”Of course... maybe Iʼm just too kind and weak.”

Chen Zhuo said self-mockingly, then looked at Lin Yu.

”By the way, Game Master, you came to find me... did you see the post I made online?”

”Post?”

Lin Yu felt somewhat puzzled internally.

But he didnʼt show it, just nodded with pretended profundity, neither confirming nor denying.

”Partly because of that... but more importantly because you have great potential, so Iʼve been keeping an eye on you.”

As Lin Yu spoke, Chen Zhuo became very excited.

”Really? I didnʼt know I had potential... but I survived such a dangerous dungeon last time, maybe youʼre right, Game Master!”

Then, as if realizing something, Chen Zhuo said tentatively: ”Eh? Game Master, are you dissatisfied about me trying to hire experts to team up with me online?”

Chen Zhuo said cautiously, and only then did Lin Yu understand.

The post this Otaku was talking about was likely the ”paid carry request” post he made on the forum!

Many newcomers would offer forum points, excellent [items], or even cash as payment to seek help from experts to carry them through dungeons and teach them the necessary precautions for that type of dungeon.

And realizing this...

Lin Yu suddenly realized this seemed like a heaven-sent opportunity.

Because of Chen Zhuoʼs existence, there would always be loopholes in the identities of ”Zhu Ming” and ”Xia Yue.”

It might even expose the fact that he and Xia Yue had been in the same dungeon.

Therefore, Lin Yu had already prepared for the worst-case scenario - either eliminating Chen Zhuo or using ”Tongue of Deceit” once to see if he could alter his perception. Even though he would lose a chubby kid who firmly believed he was the ”Game Master” and might lose many conveniences.

But for Lin Yu, that was a sacrifice he had to make.

But if Chen Zhuo was looking for experts to carry him through ”dungeons”...

Lin Yuʼs mind became active.

”Seems like there might still be a way out!”
