Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 202: All Sides Take the Stage, the Set Is Built, and the Director’s Confession

”Boom—”

A tremendous sound rolled and reverberated, like muffled thunder echoing through this rainy night!

Countless sleeping citizens of Jiangcheng were startled awake, looking out their windows but seeing no flashing lightning.

Only a golden light seemed to descend from the sky in the southern area.

Some people grabbed their phones to capture this scene and posted about it.

”Holy crap, is someone undergoing a tribulation crossing in southern Jiangcheng?”

Although many witnessed this strange scene, some mysterious force seemed to prompt people to quickly ignore and forget about it, returning to their dreams.

But the players in Jiangcheng couldnʼt ignore this.

In a southern city hotel, High Mountain instantly understood why Li Hua hadnʼt told him what the ”need support” signal would be.

Because this was just too obvious!
High Mountain quickly stood up, simultaneously grabbing the [Soul Spirit Golden Brooch].

”All squads attention! Comrade ʼGamblerʼ is engaged in combat at 235 Anlin Road, Southern District, former Nangang Pier area! Requires reinforcements!”

”All squads leave only two personnel to guard each station, everyone else mobilize for reinforcement!”

High Mountain calmly made the judgment.

Then...

The [Soul Spirit Golden Brooch] transmitted several brief ”received” responses.

Several squads of 『Order』 immediately began advancing toward the direction of the abandoned ships!

And those who moved first werenʼt just 『Order』!

...

Within the 『Jiangʼan Hall』 APP, messages began flooding in.

”Brothers, is that golden light the bossʼs signature move?”

”It really is—and 『Order』 people took the boss away!”

”Holy shit, the BOSS is fighting someone?!”

”Letʼs go! Everyone in the organization whoʼs awake, hurry to support!”

”Location should be southern city.”

”Those who havenʼt advanced tiers shouldnʼt come to die, preferably Second Tier and above!”

One by one, awake 『Jiangʼan Hall』 members in Jiangcheng quietly emerged from their homes, rushing toward the southern district.

...

In a barbecue restaurant, Robin sipped Coke in small gulps while wearing a wrinkled mouse-gray crewneck and athletic shorts.

”Thank you for being willing to come to Jiangcheng with me, Snowy Owl.”

Sitting across from her named ”Snowy Owl” was a girl with white-tipped bangs and a round face.

The other ate crayfish and lamb skewers while scrolling through her phone, waving dismissively.

”Hey, you said youʼd cover food and lodging—I should be thanking... Wait? Holy shit, somethingʼs happened!”

Snowy Owl put down her chopsticks, showing the 『Night Watchmen』 internal group chat on her phone.

Someone named 『Carrier Pigeon』 had sent a message to the group, specifically tagging Snowy Owl and Robin.

”You two are in Jiangcheng, right? @SnowyOwl@Robin”

”『Order』 and 『Marauders』 have started full-scale warfare in Jiangcheng! At some pier in the southern city, hurry over to check it out and help!”

Robin also looked surprised.

”How did they start fighting tonight? Wasnʼt the time tomorrow night?”

”Who knows,” Snowy Owl stood up, grabbing two napkins to wipe her mouth, ”Do 『Order』 and 『Marauders』 need reasons to fight?”

Robin also nodded.

”True enough... Letʼs go help!”

She hurried toward the front counter, scanned the code to settle the bill, then walked into the rain curtain with Snowy Owl.

...

Under a southern city bridge arch, inside an old-fashioned military tent.

The four members of 『Free Alliance』 crowded in the tent playing cards, 『Magician』 Phantom couldnʼt help but complain.

”Even though we lost the star-rated hotel, directly downgrading to bridge arch camping is too much!”

”A Nian, isnʼt the gap between your Plan A and B a bit too large?”

『Master Thief』 Li Nian held her playing cards while looking up at the swaying camping light, appearing quite excited.

”Eh? I think itʼs quite fun!”

『Prisoner』 Old Zhou also nodded in agreement: ”Indeed, compared to staying in a hotel, this has a different charm that reminds me of my past years...”

Sitting at the tent entrance, 『Undertaker』 Xiaoyun calmly watched the slowly rising water level outside, saying lightly: ”If the rain maintains current intensity, in about six hours, weʼll be soaked in water.”

”But fortunately...”

Old Zhou looked at Xiaoyun and said: ”Fortunately the rain might stop?”

”No, the rain will intensify,” a rare smile appeared on Xiaoyunʼs face, ”In about three hours, youʼll be washed away by rapid currents in your sleep, at that time... in the best scenario, Iʼll get three waterlogged swollen corpses—this is excellent practice opportunity, your abilities are all quite useful too.”

As Xiaoyun spoke, brief silence fell in the tent, but everyone seemed somewhat accustomed to it.

Phantom stroked his chin: ”Then why did you suddenly change your mind and warn us about this?”

Xiaoyun looked outside the tent again.

”Because we have new excitement to join.”

”I smell the scent of blood and fire.”

She murmured, and as her light words faded.

Golden light exploded across the sky, followed by rolling thunder-like rumbles.

Old Zhou instantly stood up excitedly: ”Damn, whose ability is this? Looks awesome!”

Phantom and Xiaoyun looked at Li Nian.

Li Nian grinned: ”Oh, I actually know this one.”

”This commotion is probably from our Jiangcheng local powerhouse 『Tycoon』...”

”Should be his 『Capitalist』 professional ability!”

Hearing Li Nianʼs explanation, the other three were somewhat shocked.

”Truly a veteran 『Fourth Tier』 expert,” Old Zhou said eagerly, ”We definitely need to check this out!”

”Just wonder who heʼs fighting...”

Phantom said while stroking his chin.

Xiaoyun said softly: ”Whoever heʼs fighting, we should go see... Nobody doesnʼt want to go, right?”

”Of course!”

...

And as personnel from all sides converged toward the southern district like rushing rivers.

At home, Lin Yu yawned, looking at his phone where the 『Marauders』 APP was flooded with ”FUCKING ENEMY ATTACK” and ”PEOPLE EVERYWHERE” messages;the 『Jiangʼan Hall』 APP with ”LETʼS GO QUICK SUPPORT” and ”ORDER BROTHERS ALREADY IN POSITION” messages;and the 『Huntersʼ Association』 and 『forum』 with numerous ”WHATʼS HAPPENING IN JIANGCHENG” discussion threads, nodding with some satisfaction.

”The effect is even better than imagined.”

Just a three-character text message had lightly flapped like a butterflyʼs wings, stirring the entire Jiangchengʼs ”players” into motion, gradually turning this city into a chaotic vortex.

And this was exactly what Lin Yu hoped to see.

Before the appointed time arrived, Jiangchengʼs waters needed to grow increasingly murky.

He clearly knew he was only 『First-Tier』, just an ordinary player without background or formidable strength.

The situation cleverly created in the last dungeon was far beyond what he could control.

So...

Since he couldnʼt control it, he might as well make sure nobody could control it!

Only this way could he achieve maximum ”benefit.”

The more chaotic the situation, the more information these organizations and experts would expose...

This information was exactly what Lin Yu needed most right now.

And what Lin Yu sought by creating chaos wasnʼt just this...

”Anyway, Iʼll take a nap first to rest... Wait until big sister is sound asleep too, then Iʼll sneak over to check the situation.”

He turned off his phone screen on the bed, through the faint light coming through the window, pieces of dark phone screens reflected Lin Yuʼs face from different angles.

From every angle, Lin Yu appeared cold and imposing at this moment, just like the rainy night outside.

”The stage has been set...”

”I hope tomorrowʼs actors wonʼt disappoint me too much.”
