Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 234: Food Trucks, Wine Pairings, and the Awakening of Pang Duo

After the carriage door opened, Lin Yuʼs group also entered the next carriage.

Compared to the previous D13 carriage filled with seats that looked like an ordinary passenger car, this one labeled ”D-12” appeared somewhat special.

It looked like a dining car—and a rather luxurious one at that.

The entire carriage had only three elegant booth seats, with a solid wood bar counter behind which stood what appeared to be very tasteful wine cabinets and refrigerators.

The whole carriage remained empty, without any staff members.

Lin Yu surveyed the surroundings, finding no immediate dangers for now.

”Is this rest time now? Or does this count as a ʼsafe zoneʼ?”

He asked cautiously.

Li Nian said casually, ”I wouldnʼt know... my intel isnʼt that detailed.”

As she spoke, she propped herself up on the bar counter with one hand and gracefully flipped over it, landing steadily.
Then Li Nian opened the wine cabinet and took out what looked like an extremely expensive bottle of wine.

”Wow, Kirishima Vineyardʼs year 370 New Calendar wine [Repentance], Truth Corporation is really generous.”

She pulled out two glasses from under the bar counter and looked at Lin Yu and Chen Zhuo.

”Zhu Ming and that fat guy over there, either of you want a drink?”

Chen Zhuo, who had just placed the carried Punkdo Von Valetti on a chair and was sitting on the armrest catching his breath, froze at Li Nianʼs question, then shook his head.

”Huh? Wine... no thanks!”

”I donʼt drink.”

He waved his hand in refusal, then added quietly, ”Besides, drinking isnʼt good, weʼre not even adults yet.”

Li Nian curled her lip: ”Philistine.”

”Weʼre in a dungeon already, why pretend to be a good student? You think thereʼs going to be a dean on this train to catch you?”

Then Li Nian looked at Lin Yu: ”How about you, Zhu Ming? This is rare good stuff!”

Lin Yu also shook his head: ”Pass, I know what Kirishima Vineyardʼs wines are like... Although it seems safe for now, I donʼt want both of us to end up in a combat-incapable state—even if just for a moment.”

Li Nian raised an eyebrow: ”Youʼre unexpectedly cautious too.”

”And... having only gone through eight dungeons, you already know about Kirishima Vineyard,” Li Nian rubbed her chin, ”No wonder you have high enough potential for the Psychological Society to send an S-level after you.”

Lin Yu smiled modestly: ”Just got lucky and happened to see it once.”

Li Nian didnʼt say more, pouring herself a full glass of wine before drinking it.

Then, her eyes briefly lost focus.

After ten-some seconds, a clear tear streamed from the corner of Li Nianʼs left eye, and then her gaze cleared.

”Whew—though the vintage is so-so, the effect is still decent.”

Li Nian gently wiped away her tear, muttering to herself.

Lin Yu looked at Li Nian and asked, ”What did you see? It even made you cry.”

”Just one tear doesnʼt count as crying,” Li Nian said indifferently, ”What I just saw was me getting arrested for stealing too much, writing a confession and penalty acknowledgment in the detention center.”

”So it was prison tears.”

Lin Yu teased, not believing a single word of Li Nianʼs explanation.

Clearly, this Master Thief lady was hiding something—but that made sense, she seemed like the type to keep things to herself.

Something like the heartache brought out by the ”Kirishima Vineyard” wine would definitely not be shared with Chen Zhuo and ”Zhu Ming.”

She wasnʼt close enough with these two to open up like that.

Sure enough, after Lin Yuʼs teasing, Li Nian smoothly changed the subject.

”Alright, since itʼs relatively safe now, while weʼre resting letʼs not waste time...”

”Letʼs continue investigating this guy.”

Li Nian said as she walked out from behind the bar, coming before the tall thin man Chen Zhuo had placed on the chair, and grabbed his hood-style mask.

Then, Li Nian removed this mask, revealing a deeply sunken-eyed, high-cheekboned, unshaven face of a disheveled middle-aged man.

His pale golden hair was messy, looking like it hadnʼt been washed for a long time.

This look resembled a Hollywood blockbusterʼs former special forces soldier or agent who divorced his wife and took up an alcoholic life, quietly waiting for the day some fool would kidnap his daughter or plot to destroy the world, reactivating him into a hellish war god that even ghosts fear.

”Whoa, a foreigner.”

Chen Zhuo exclaimed in surprise.

Hearing Chen Zhuoʼs remark, Li Nian couldnʼt help rolling her eyes: ”His name is Punkdo Von Valetti, did you expect him to be a fellow townsman from our Jiangcheng?”

Meanwhile, Lin Yu looking at this face did an additional comparison that Chen Zhuo and Li Nian couldnʼt.

He was comparing this face with the image of Vale Valetti he had seen.

The conclusion was... putting aside body weight and just looking at bone structure, the two did have some similarities.

But these four or five points of similarity werenʼt enough to prove familial relations.

Besides, the Vale Valetti Lin Yu had seen was already a soul entity, which inevitably caused some distortion.

”Maybe Valetti is a common surname, like Smith...”

But if the two were really relatives... even if this guy was crazy and currently subdued, maybe they could try communicating with him through the ”Vale Valetti” identity.

Thinking this, Lin Yu felt conflicted—he was considering whether to try waking this NPC.

But before Lin Yu could mentally reach a conclusion, Li Nian had already taken action.

”Since weʼre idle anyway, Iʼll wake him up.”

Li Nian said casually, without waiting for Chen Zhuo and Lin Yu to voice any opinions, she took out a spray bottle from her bosom.

From Li Nianʼs movements, Lin Yu guessed the spray bottle was probably filled with water.

She directly aimed the bottleʼs showerhead at the sleeping Punkdo Von Valetti and pressed the metal lever on the handle.

”Pshh pshh!”

The showerhead sprayed some liquid, instantly startling awake Punkdo Von Valetti, who had been sleeping soundly and hadnʼt woken even after being tied up and carried shaking on Chen Zhuoʼs back all this way.

He opened his eyes wide trying to get up, but quickly found himself tightly bound and began struggling vigorously—like a flapping fish.

”What have you done? Who are you people?! Untie me now!”

Punkdo Von Valetti growled lowly, looking warily at the three people before him.

Hearing Punkdo Von Valettiʼs words, Lin Yu and Li Nian simultaneously realized something was off;their eyes met, both somewhat pleasantly surprised.

Li Nian spoke first: ”Hey, youʼre the one who attacked us, and youʼre questioning us instead?”

Sure enough, after being questioned like this, a confused expression appeared on Punkdo Von Valettiʼs face.

Just as Lin Yu and Li Nian had anticipated...

Although his tone had been fierce earlier, it wasnʼt ”crazy” like in the previous carriage, but rather somewhat ”panicked.”

So in other words...

Punkdo Von Valetti was now communicable!

And moreover, the previous attack and fight might not have been his intention!
