Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 215: Infiltration and Schemes

There was only one urn in Xia Yueʼs home, and from its wear and placement, Lin Yu could easily deduce...

That ”urn” belonged to Xia Yueʼs father.

In other words, Xia Yueʼs remains were not in this home.

Hearing Lin Yuʼs words, Mother Xia seemed somewhat surprised but didnʼt feel particularly offended.

”Xiao Lin, why do you want to see that?”

Lin Yu pursed his lips: ”I have some unfinished words I want to say to her... so I wanted to know where her remains are placed.”

”I always feel like she might not hear words spoken to a memorial tablet and photo.”

Lin Yuʼs tone carried some melancholy.

Although this reason didnʼt sound very reliable, combined with his somewhat sorrowful tone, it actually made Mother Xia not suspect anything.

She looked at Lin Yu and spoke somewhat hesitantly: ”Were you and Xiao Yue very close?”
”We didnʼt spend much time together, but she was practically one of the people closest to me,” Lin Yu said softly. ”I often have this unreal feeling—I donʼt know if you experience this too, Auntie...”

”A perfectly fine person suddenly gone, making me feel like Iʼve suddenly entered a world Iʼve never been to before.”

As Lin Yu spoke, he looked down at his own hands, opening and closing them.

”So, Auntie, I want to talk to her, also to confirm for myself... that this has really happened.”

Then, Lin Yu raised his head, showing an apologetic smile.

”Sorry, Auntie, I probably shouldnʼt say these things in front of you.”

Mother Xia paused for a moment, then shook her head.

”No, itʼs fine...”

”Xiao Yue hasnʼt been cremated yet because she died accidentally, and coincidentally the surveillance was broken.”

”Although the comrades from the public security said the preliminary investigation and examination results indeed point to accident, further appraisal results are still pending, taking about over twenty days.”

”We werenʼt in a hurry to cremate anyway, thinking that if Xiao Yue really didnʼt die accidentally, we couldnʼt let her suffer injustice... so we decided to temporarily not cremate.”

As Mother Xia said these things, although her tone was calm, her expression still seemed somewhat unnatural.

When mentioning words like ”remains” and ”cremation,” it seemed she could still feel the heartache from when she first received the news.

With both husband and child dying accidentally, if not for having another daughter, this mother probably would have already collapsed.

Lin Yu nodded.

”I understand, Auntie. Iʼm sorry for making you say these things that upset you.”

”Itʼs fine, itʼs fine,” Mother Xia shook her head. ”Youʼre feeling bad too, Auntie knows, child.”

”Youʼre feeling bad too... itʼs already noon, would you like to stay for lunch? Iʼve already mostly prepared it!”

As Mother Xia spoke, Lin Yu was just about to politely decline.

At that moment, the sound of a door opening came from the entrance.

A young girl wearing middle school uniform pushed the door open and walked in, speaking clearly.

”Mom, Iʼm back.”

After entering, the middle school girl noticed Lin Yu sitting in the living room, showing surprise and wariness.

”Mom, who is he?”

Lin Yu stood up, and Mother Xia introduced: ”Xia Yang, this is your sisterʼs friend, Brother Lin.”

After Mother Xiaʼs introduction, Lin Yu nodded slightly: ”Hello, Xia Yang, Iʼve heard your sister mention you.”

The girl named Xia Yang clearly looked uncomfortable.

”Hmm!”

She responded indifferently, then quickly walked straight back to her room.

Mother Xia seemed somewhat embarrassed: ”This child is shy around strangers...”

Lin Yu shook his head: ”Itʼs fine, I am intruding after all.”

”Seeing that you and Xia Yang are both doing well, I feel slightly relieved... Xia Yang might not even want to come out to eat with me here, so Iʼll take my leave now.”

Before Mother Xia could try to persuade him to stay again, Lin Yu added: ”I have things to do this afternoon too, Iʼll come visit you again when I have the chance.”

Mother Xia could only nod: ”Okay, Xiao Lin... then take care on your way.”

Lin Yu left Xia Yueʼs home and got back on his bicycle.

The noon sun was bright with gentle breezes blowing. As Lin Yu rode on the roads of Jiangchengʼs Beiqiao District, his gloomy mood eased somewhat.

After leaving Xia Yueʼs home, Lin Yu clearly realized.

”You really were a good person...”

He sincerely sighed.

Just from the reactions of colleagues at her workplace and family at home, Lin Yu could clearly see...

Xia Yue was a very good person.

Her death must have been a huge tragedy for those around her, especially her family.

However...

Lin Yu didnʼt feel the slightest guilt or self-blame because of this.

After all, Xia Yue had also intended to kill him at the time.

Furthermore...

Lin Yu felt that, taking a step back, the one who should bear the most responsibility for Xia Yueʼs death should be Fluoxetine.

It was Fluoxetine who personally sent Xia Yue into the ʼDeath Game,ʼ it was Fluoxetine who killed Xia Yue in reality.

Even though Lin Yu killed her twice in the ʼDeath Gameʼ...

But Lin Yu himself was also sent in by Fluoxetine.

”Iʼll avenge you, Xia Yue. After all, we share the same enemy.”

”So...”

”You donʼt mind if I borrow your identity, right?”

”I think your family and friends would be happy to see this too.”

Lin Yu stopped his bicycle in front of a restaurant.

However, Lin Yu didnʼt enter the restaurant but turned into the alley beside it.

Then, Lin Yu patted the little octopus dozing on his shoulder.

”Hannah, wake up.”

Hannah, who had been wilting from the sun, perked up.

”Quack quack, Director, your orders!”

Lin Yu looked at the ”Jiangcheng City Public Security Bureau Beiqiao Branch” across the street and said softly.

”If you use 【Concealment Camouflage】 to keep me and you completely ʼinvisibleʼ while moving, about how long can you maintain it?”

Lin Yu asked quietly. Hannah thought for a moment before replying softly.

”I probably canʼt do it for too long because Iʼm not very strong.”

Hearing Hannahʼs words, Lin Yu stroked his chin.

But...

Hannahʼs next words made Lin Yu feel helpless.

”Quack... probably only about an hour?”

”If itʼs just me alone, maybe four hours!”

”Thatʼs not short at all, Hannah.”

Hannah was utterly shocked by Lin Yuʼs words.

”Huh?! But Uncle Ka can maintain it for six hours while carrying someone!”

Lin Yu sighed helplessly.

”Thatʼs because your Uncle Ka is too strong, not because youʼre weak.”

The little octopus was very happy to hear Lin Yuʼs words.

”Quack, so Iʼm actually strong? Director!”

”Hehe... thank you for the praise!”

She said happily.

”Then should I activate the ability now? Director!”

The little octopus asked excitedly.

Lin Yu nodded.

”Of course, because I might need to infiltrate a heavily guarded place now!”
