Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 237: D-3 Carriage, Meeting an Acquaintance

With the ”Vale Valetti” connection established, Pang Kedo naturally changed his mind and accepted Lin Yuʼs invitation to join the team, giving this three-person squad an NPC Enforcer.

Lin Yu couldnʼt help but thank ”Vale Valetti” once more in his heart - who would have thought that guy could still send him a teammate even across different dungeons.

And the previous privilege card too, saving him the trouble of puzzle-solving.

However, gratitude aside, Lin Yu still couldnʼt resist cursing about the ”great-uncle” issue.

”Vale Valetti, have you lost track of time in that great snowy mountain?”

”Your damn grandnephew is already going through a midlife crisis!”

Because Lin Yu had the notebook and privilege card, Pang Kedo didnʼt suspect anything and was tricked into revealing a large amount of personal information about himself and Vale Valetti.

According to Pang Kedoʼs account...

His grandfather Polly Valetti and Vale Valetti were brothers from Sleepless City.

The older brother Polly had a strong physique, while the younger brother Vale had a quick mind.
The older brother Polly Valetti worked as a boxer and enforcer for the underground gangs in Sleepless City, earning money to support his younger brother Valeʼs education.

Vale was very determined and entered Truth Corporation, which had recently joined the ranks of giant oligarchs in Sleepless City, becoming an Independent Researcher for the company and gaining his mentorʼs appreciation.

Through his younger brotherʼs connections, the older brother Polly Valetti also entered the company as security personnel.

Because Lin Yu had the notebook and privilege card, Pang Kedo didnʼt suspect anything and was tricked into revealing a large amount of personal information about himself and Vale Valetti.

Just two years later, Vale went missing during a field assignment.

Polly Valetti was heartbroken and approached Truth Corporationʼs management, hoping they would conduct a full-scale search and rescue for his brother... at least to see the person alive or confirm the body dead.

But since he was just a lowly security guard, he was completely powerless about it.

He could only strive to climb higher.

Through Polly Valettiʼs continuous efforts, he eventually reached the peak of what an ordinary person could achieve in Truth Corporation - deputy director of the security department.

The elderly Polly had already given up hope on whether Vale was still alive, but he still wanted to know the ”truth.”

The deputy directorʼs privileges had reached B-2 level, but he still didnʼt have the authority to access the files of Independent Researcher Valeʼs last mission, which was only at ”B-3” level.

Therefore, after Polly retired, he still arranged for his son to enter Truth Corporation - on one hand, it was indeed a good job.

On the other hand, Polly hoped his son would continue investigating the truth about Vale.

But Pollyʼs son didnʼt make any new progress in his investigation of his uncle Vale Valetti. He hadnʼt even reached his fatherʼs position when, while serving as just the section chief of the security departmentʼs protection division, he contracted a rare disease and unfortunately died.

This prematurely deceased only son of Polly Valetti was precisely Pang Kedo Von Valettiʼs father.

He also passed on his fatherʼs will to his own son.

So... although Pang Kedo Von Valetti had never even met his great-uncle, he knew everything about him.

Therefore, after extracting all the information, Lin Yu simply did a favor and roughly explained what had approximately happened to Vale Valetti in the form of ”I heard from a friend.”

”Thank you for sharing. I think my grandfather and father would be comforted to know this... Iʼll tell them all this when I visit their graves.”

Pang Kedo Von Valetti thanked Lin Yu solemnly, then became somewhat pessimistic.

”Though, I hope I can still get out to visit their graves!”

As he said this, Li Nian, carrying her bulging backpack, waved her hand: ”Ah, donʼt be so discouraged! With the few of us, thereʼs definitely no problem.”

The three-person team brought Pang Kedo to the other end of the dining car.

After Pang Kedo joined the team, they naturally had no reason to linger in the dining car any longer.

To obtain the ”Train Ticket,” they had to fight certain things on this train.

Right now, the dining car didnʼt even have living creatures, let alone moving objects, so obviously there was no possibility of getting tickets here.

They reached the other end of the dining car, but the door here...

had four doors side by side.

The four doors were labeled D-3, D-6, D-9, and ”ROLL” respectively.

Chen Zhuo scratched his head.

”What does this mean? Shouldnʼt train carriages be arranged sequentially? And why are there three doors at once?”

Li Nian looked at Chen Zhuo: ”Although you might not have known what ʼTruth Corporationʼ was before... you can probably tell from our conversation that this company can convert human emotions and souls into actual energy or even matter.”

”Do you think itʼs difficult for such a company to install some kind of transportation device on their train?”

As Li Nian spoke, Pang Kedo nodded: ”Thatʼs right, the company indeed has this technology... Although there are many restrictions regarding distance and placement, within a completely enclosed entire building or vehicle, itʼs possible to create fixed point-to-point portals using the reality-warping properties of ʼconfusionʼ.”

As Pang Kedo explained, Chen Zhuo suddenly understood.

”So Truth Corporation is this awesome! I should have bought some of their products!”

”Someone was selling me weapons made by their company at the last gathering, but I didnʼt take them because the price was too high.”

Chen Zhuo said regretfully.

”But never mind that, which door should we choose?”

Lin Yu stroked his chin thoughtfully: ”Hmm... Personally, Iʼd prefer to choose between numbers 3 and 6.”

”Eh? Why exclude number nine and that ROLL door?”

Chen Zhuo asked full of curiosity.

”Because these two doors have a high probability of encountering other players. Remember that ʼhintʼ - the carriages with ʼnew passengers,ʼ besides our D-13, are D-4 and D-5.”

Li Nian analyzed.

”Of course, between these two, the one more likely to encounter players should be number 3, because based on our experience with numbers 12 and 13, the dining car should have normal doors leading to larger numbers and spatial doors leading to smaller numbers.”

Therefore, after extracting all the information, Lin Yu simply did a favor and roughly explained what had happened to Vale Valetti in the form of ”I heard from a friend.”

After explaining, Li Nian added her own opinion with a smile.

Pang Kedo stood to the side without speaking, appearing to follow orders.

Only then did Lin Yu realize that everyone seemed to be leaving the decision to him.

But this was reasonable...

After all, the card with the highest privileges that could definitely open doors was in Lin Yuʼs hand.

”Alright, then letʼs go with carriage number 3.”

Lin Yu took out Vale Valettiʼs card and swiped it next to the door labeled ”D-3.”

The door opened again, revealing a deep space with blue light emanating from the floor. Lin Yu led the others inside.

The door behind them closed automatically, and after a slight feeling of dizziness, a door suddenly opened before them.

A strong smell of blood wafted through. The spacious carriage, arranged almost identically to D-12, was littered with corpses everywhere.

On the bar counter, on dining tables, on the floor...

Approximately over ten lives had probably just vanished minutes ago.

And the perpetrator of all this was likely the only one still standing in this carriage right now.

The man who was leisurely cooking pasta using the stove behind the bar counter.

Before Lin Yu and Pang Kedo could assume defensive postures, before Chen Zhuo could hide behind everyone, Li Nian spoke first.

”Holy crap, Brother Wang, itʼs you!”

The man cooking pasta also looked up, saw Li Nian wearing sunglasses, and looked slightly surprised.

”Oh? A Nian?”

”Youʼre in this dungeon too.”
