Chapter 492: Chapter 491 Uncle, I Have a Secret to Tell You

Owen Lewis looked sternly at Sophia Moore.

”Who told you that if you care about me, I have to be nice to you?”

What kind of logic is this?

”You...”

Sophia Moore was taken aback, unsure how to refute his words.

His words made sense, but they lacked propriety.

”Get out!”

Owen Lewis uttered the word again, then picked up the file in front of him and began reading.

Seeing this, Sophia Moore stomped her foot in anger and turned to leave.

Nia Mitchell quietly raised an eyebrow. This Owen Lewis has such a terrible temper, much worse than Alan Morgan’s.

Realizing this, she immediately got to work.

And our Lewis, the moment he stepped into the company, not only reinstated Sophia Moore—who was always making things difficult for Rabina Mitchell—to her position, but also inadvertently gave Nia Mitchell a bad impression.

It was simply ludicrous.

”Nia... um... hand this to CEO Peary.”

Owen Lewis’s previous work hadn’t been public-facing, so he was still unaccustomed to certain things, inevitably lacking Alan Morgan’s slickness.

Back in ****, who would have dared to contradict me even once? I’d have finished them off directly. But that won’t fly now. I have to keep telling myself: this is all above board; I can’t just resort to fighting and killing at the drop of a hat.

It was one thing that he wasn’t used to addressing Maxwell Peary as CEO Peary; that was a habit he could gradually cultivate. But just one honeymoon later—Maxwell Peary’s, that is—and suddenly he had a sister-in-law. Having to call a twenty-year-old girl ’sister-in-law’... It’s awkward. I need some time to mentally prepare.

”Okay.”

Nia Mitchell smiled as she walked over to accept the document, then went straight to the CEO’s Office.

Gently knocking on the door of the CEO’s Office, Nia Mitchell pushed it open, not expecting to see Sophia Moore again.

Maxwell Peary looked up at Nia Mitchell.

”This will do. You sort those things out,” Maxwell Peary said to Sophia Moore, then turned his attention to Nia Mitchell.

”What is it?”

”Special Assistant Lewis asked me to deliver this file to you,” Nia Mitchell said sweetly, then went over and placed the file on his desk.

”You can go now.”

Maxwell Peary, seeing Sophia Moore still lingering there, unhappily urged her to leave.

Sophia Moore’s face instantly turned red. It was her first day back at work, and she had already been dismissed twice, both times in front of Nia Mitchell.

After Sophia Moore left, Maxwell Peary’s spirits seemed to lift.

”How was your day?”

Upon hearing his question, Nia Mitchell instantly became animated.

”Uncle, did you know? I saw Charles Northwood’s girlfriend today!”

She reached out and grabbed Maxwell Peary’s arm, so excited she wasn’t controlling her strength.

”Really?”

Maxwell Peary paid no mind to the pressure on his arm, a rare smile gracing his face.

”Yeah, yeah! She’s quite good-looking, and a student from University A too! Apparently, she’s one of the students Charles Northwood teaches. Isn’t that wild?”

Nia Mitchell’s eyes sparkled; she still found it hard to believe.

”It’s been seven years, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen Charles Northwood’s girlfriend. But he wasn’t the one who told me. I just happened to meet the girl, and she told me. I think... I think her name was Tara Jameson.”

Nia Mitchell chattered on, pulling Maxwell Peary into her enthusiastic recounting.

”Very happy?”

Maxwell Peary reached out and gently stroked her hair, his face full of affection.

When he had previously investigated Charles Northwood, Charles hadn’t had a girlfriend. What exactly is going on here?

At this thought, Maxwell Peary’s brow furrowed unwittingly. He decided he would investigate thoroughly later. Perhaps... there are some ulterior secrets involved.
