Chapter 685: Chapter 684 Fire Tree Human

Ye Haochuan sensed danger.

When he looked up, he realized the sky had not darkened; it was because a kind of flying creature covered the heavens, obscuring the daylight.

Damn! What the hell are these things, and there are so many of them. There’s even a presence among them that feels threatening to me.

Ye Haochuan saw that the flying creatures were at least three meters long with fiery red bodies and large, flame-shaped crowns on their heads. They had sharp claws and beaks, and their eyes were sharp and vicious.

The creatures were circling in the sky incessantly as if there was some treasure on the ground that they were determined to acquire.

Damn, what rotten luck to encounter them while I’m on my way. Looks like I have no choice but to avoid them.

Without hesitation, Ye Haochuan decreased his flying altitude and skimmed low across the ground.

After some time, the number of flying creatures overhead hadn’t decreased at all, and two of them had even noticed Ye Haochuan’s presence.

”Damn it, there’s a forest up ahead. Looks like I have no other choice but to go in and hide, to avoid these creatures for now,” said Ye Haochuan, rushing into the forest without a second thought, hoping to conceal himself.

After flying into the forest, Ye Haochuan landed.

”That was close,” Ye Haochuan said as he released the others.

”Senior Brother Ye, what are these creatures above us...” Langfan exclaimed in shock, looking up at the oppressive number of flying creatures. Their sheer number was truly terrifying.

Before he could finish speaking, the trees around them seemed to come to life, twisting their bodies. One tree, in particular, had a pair of eyes that opened up, and the tree spoke in human language, ”Who is it?”

”Move quickly,” Ye Haochuan warned.

It was too late, however, as countless roots suddenly sprouted from the ground, rushing towards Ye Haochuan and the others. The roots formed a vast net, tightly ensnaring them.

”Senior Brother Ye, what’s going on? Are these roots? Why are they so hard to break? We can’t break free even with all our inner strength, and we can’t get our magical treasures out,” Nong Quan asked anxiously.

Ye Haochuan also tried to break the roots with his Longevity Gang Qi and found they were hundreds of times harder than steel.

The tree with eyes beside him spoke, ”Sly and vile humans, how dare you step into the territory of the Fire Tree Humans.”

What Fire Tree Humans, Water Tree Humans. If you anger me, I’ll set fire to this place and burn it down.

”Release us now! Otherwise, I’ll burn down your territory,” Ye Haochuan threatened, releasing the aura of the Innate Realm.

”Ah! Your cultivation is so high? Release you? I, I, I can’t make that decision. Only the all-knowing, all-powerful Eldest Elder has the authority to release you,” said the Fire Tree Human, clearly intimidated by the aura Ye Haochuan released.

”Go inform your Eldest Elder and ask him to release us, or I’ll burn you all... Believe me, we’re capable of doing it,” Ye Haochuan threatened.

The other six simultaneously released their Innate Realm aura to support the threat.

”Ah! You’re all at the Innate Realm? That’s too terrifying,” the Fire Tree Human said, fearfully.

”Then why don’t you hurry up and inform your so-called all-knowing, all-powerful Eldest Elder to come and release us?” Langfan demanded.

”No, we Fire Tree Humans cannot move. Only you can go see our Eldest Elder to ask for your release,” said the Fire Tree Human that had captured Ye Haochuan and the others.

”Fine. If you want us to see the Eldest Elder, you must release us,” Ye Haochuan replied.

”I can’t do that. What if you run away?” the Fire Tree Human refused.

”Hmph, you tell us to find the Eldest Elder and then refuse to release us. What do you want exactly?” Nong Quan spoke up.

”Hmm, this is bad, what should I do now? I’m not smart enough for this,” the Fire Tree Human pondered to itself.

It even scratched its own trunk with its roots.

Damn! It turns out to be an idiot. Long Piaoying said that the beings in the Sub-Fire Elemental Realm had low intelligence, and it seems to be true.

Ye Haochuan thought to himself but said aloud, ”Well then, just release our feet, and we can walk over ourselves.”

”Eh! Why didn’t I think of that?” said the Fire Tree Human, happily.

The faces of the group were unhappy; to be captured by such a low-intelligence fool...

The Fire Tree Human released the roots from their feet, but their bodies were still entangled.

”Where is your Eldest Elder?” Ye Haochuan asked.

”The center of the forest. Keep walking and you’ll see it,” the Fire Tree Human answered. After speaking, it closed its eyes and mouth, blending into the surroundings like a mere tree.

The group continued toward the center of the thick forest, surrounded by dense and lush trees on both sides.

”Senior Brother Ye, now that we’re away from that Fire Tree Human, why don’t we just make a run for it and think of a way to break these roots once we’re out?” Langfan suggested.

”Don’t act recklessly. Take a good look at the trees on both sides,” Ye Haochuan warned.

It was only then that everyone carefully observed the large trees around them, noticing that more than half of the trees in this forest had eyes and mouths. Could these all be Fire Tree Humans?

”If there are this many Fire Tree Humans, there’s no way we could escape,” Zhu Gao said, worry evident on his face.

”Don’t worry, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Let’s go meet that Eldest Elder first,” Ye Haochuan said calmly.

Nodding in agreement, they all continued toward the center of the forest.

Arriving at the forest center.

”Eldest Elder, where are you? Show yourself and release us,” Ye Haochuan called out.

”Who are you? How did you come to the center of the forest?” an exceptionally tall Fire Tree Human opened its eyes and shouted angrily.

”Are you the Eldest Elder?” Ye Haochuan asked.

However, the tall Fire Tree Human didn’t respond to Ye Haochuan.

It conveyed a message to the surrounding forest, ”Hmph! Forest guards, why didn’t you execute them on the spot? Do I really need to take action myself?”

Having said that, it moved its massive body, and countless thicker roots shot out from the ground toward Ye Haochuan and his companions.

Damn, this damn tree person attacks as soon as we meet, as if I’m already dead.

Ye Haochuan also prepared to fight, ready to give it his all.

”Wait... just...,” a feeble voice intervened, and a withered Fire Tree Human, looking nearly wilted, opened its eyes to speak up.

The taller Fire Tree Human’s roots that were shooting towards Ye Haochuan and the others stopped. It then said angrily to the Eldest Elder, ”Why do you stop me? They could very well be the minions of the Flame Eagle Beast, here to steal our tribe’s holy object that’s about to mature.”

”Elder Yige... let’s... hear... what they... have to say...,” the Eldest Elder asked weakly, ”Who... are you? What... are you doing... in our tribe’s... territory?”

Damn. Is this sickly being the Eldest Elder? By its aura, it appears to be at the mid-stage of the Innate Realm.

Ye Haochuan had no choice but to reply, ”We are none of the Flame Eagle Beast’s minions, nor do we harbor any interest in the holy object your tribe is about to harvest. We’re just a group of people who wandered into this forest by mistake; please let us leave.”

”Prevarication! Eldest Elder, you must not trust these cunning humans,” Elder Yige said angrily.

”Shut your mouth. Nonsense,” Ye Haochuan snapped at Elder Yige.

”How... can you... prove... you’re not... the minions... of the Flame... Eagle Beast?” the Eldest Elder asked slowly.

”You’re sick. I can cure that. A minion of the Flame Eagle Beast wouldn’t heal your sickness,” Ye Haochuan told the Eldest Elder.

”Oh... Can you truly... cure... my illness? It’s... the fatal... disease... of our tribe. Anyone who contracts it... will surely... die, with not a... single exception,” the Eldest Elder inquired.

”Eldest Elder, don’t listen to his nonsense. Our withering disease cannot be cured, not even by a human at the Foundation Establishment Stage who we once invited in exchange for a holy object. That human was powerless and even forcibly took the object away. Could his cultivation really be higher than the Foundation Establishment Stage? Humans are deceitful; they are even more malicious than the Flame Eagle Beast,” Elder Yige said furiously.

”Hmph, if someone at the Foundation Establishment Stage can’t do it, that doesn’t mean I can’t. When I say I can cure your illness, I mean it,” Ye Haochuan stated unequivocally.

”Ridiculous, utter nonsense. I will subject you to the ultimate punishment,” Elder Yige said coldly.

”Hold on... Human... Are you truly... confident... that you can heal... my illness? And you... are just at... the early stage... of the Innate Realm,” the Eldest Elder questioned.

”What does being at the Innate Realm have to do with anything? Tell me, did it start with black spots on the leaves, followed by the tips drying out, then the trunk slowly withering, and finally the bark starting to peel off?” Ye Haochuan said.

”How... do you... know that? Can you really... cure it?” Great Old Zhang asked excitedly, thinking his life was nearing its end. It was unexpected that this human could describe his illness.

”Eldest Elder, don’t be fooled by him, humans...” Elder Yige tried to interrupt.

”Shut up! Do you have a better... solution? Or would you rather... watch me... die?” the Eldest Elder retorted angrily.

”I wouldn’t dare,” Elder Yige fell silent.

”Respectable... human, let me... witness... your medical skills... Please cure... my illness,” the Eldest Elder bent its withered form, pleading.
