Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 662: Chapter 661: Only Inspection Diagnosis, No Pulse Taking

What are the uses of cucumber?

Upon hearing this, everyone in the hall began to ponder.

As soon as Song Wei, the medical doctor, heard it, he immediately said pridefully, ”The benefits of cucumber are numerous; first, it can promote the body’s metabolism and eliminate toxins. Second, it inhibits the conversion of carbohydrates into fat, which is beneficial for the lungs, stomach, heart, liver, and excretory system. Third, cucumber contains a bitter substance...”

As he went on and on in endless detail, Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but shake his head. So verbose—wasn’t it annoying?

Finally, when Song Wei finished talking, Ye Haochuan chuckled and said, ”Brother Song Wei really lives up to his title of medical doctor, remembering all this so clearly. Admirable, admirable, but... I’d like to weakly ask if there’s anything else besides the basket of benefits you’ve listed?”

Song Wei was stunned and said, ”That’s all. This is what I’ve put together over many years of studying medicine.”

Haochuan kept shaking his head and smiling, saying, ”Brother Song Wei’s answer, although detailed, is still not comprehensive enough...”

Song Wei’s complexion started to look a bit unpleasant as he said defiantly, ”So you mean there are other uses for cucumbers?”

”Of course, of course...” Ye Haochuan said with a smirk.

”What other uses are there?” Song Wei asked with a cold face.

”First off, you can use cucumber as a facial mask!” Ye Haochuan laughed.

Holy moly! Does that count?

Song Wei was speechless.

As soon as everyone else heard it, they couldn’t help but laugh, but then again, it was indeed a use.

At this moment, Kou Jing was certainly feeling beyond embarrassed, while Old Master Kou kept shaking his head. This young man was shameless beyond compare!

”Shameless!” It was Yang Gongcheng who stood up on the stage and angrily rebuked.

Damn, dare to call me shameless, this guy is the first!

Ye Haochuan responded with a mischievous grin, ”Who are you, anyway?”

Yang Gongcheng scoffed, ”A petty school doctor like you deserves to know who I am?”

Wow! Who does he think he is? As if I don’t deserve to know?

Ye Haochuan chuckled and replied, ”Right, I’m just a measly school doctor; of course, I don’t deserve to know who you are, nor do I need to. After all, you’re nothing but a nameless individual who shows up without showing his face.”

”What? A nameless individual who shows up without showing his face?” Yang Gongcheng was practically about to explode with anger, arrogantly saying, ”I, Yang Gongcheng, am a distinguished professor of medicine at XX University; how could I possibly shy away? Ridiculous!”

Heavens, a medical professor from XX University!

The crowd became even more astounded; there was a medical doctor before, and now a medical professor had appeared.

Damn, is a medical professor that impressive? Can it be eaten? Can it relieve itching?

Ye Haochuan sneered, ”So what if you’re a medical professor from XX University? Talking more is pointless; let’s see the real skills at work shortly.”

Song Wei the came out and took a jab, ”You, a school doctor, think you can compare with us? It’s like a mantis trying to stop a chariot—completely overestimating yourself.”

”Boring!” Ye Haochuan looked at him with contempt, no longer willing to quarrel with this bunch of self-important people.

Right or wrong, good or bad medical skills, the people here will judge for themselves.

...

Old Master Kou belonged to a family of Traditional Chinese Medicine with renowned medical skills, and many patients came to his birthday party, attracted by his fame.

Hearing the call for treating illness, someone immediately stood up and walked onto the stage.

The first patient was around sixty years old, suffering from hyperuricemia. When a gout attack occurred, he experienced pain in his limbs and could not stand or walk.

Song Wei was the first to rush out. He inquired about the patient’s condition and then took the pulse for a while. He was somewhat confident and mocked Ye Haochuan, ”Doctor Ye, why don’t you give it a try? It would be embarrassing if you couldn’t even diagnose the condition correctly.”

Damn, there’s nothing for you to do once I get started.

Ye Haochuan knew Song Wei was mocking him. He glanced at him contemptuously and said indifferently, ”Sorry, I diagnose illness only by inspection, without taking the pulse, and can still determine the disease.”

The whole room was in an uproar. Diagnose by inspection only, without taking the pulse? Was this kid too arrogant? Even those esteemed old Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners wouldn’t dare to be so presumptuous, would they?

Song Wei and other young doctors participating in the competition shook their heads continuously. A school doctor is just a school doctor; the standard is too low!

”Why don’t you all prescribe a formula? Whoever has superior medical skills will naturally become evident,” Old Master Kou said.

”Then we will present our humble skills before Elder Kou,” everyone responded.

Immediately, someone passed them brushes and ink, and they each wrote down their proposals.

Seeing Ye Haochuan had finished writing, Song Wei said with sarcasm, ”Doctor Ye, are you done? Dare you to reveal your prescription with me?”

Ye Haochuan replied disdainfully, ”What’s there to be afraid of?”

Both revealed their prescriptions at the same time, which read: ”Poria Cocos Acid-Reducing Pills.”

Song Wei looked at Ye Haochuan’s prescription and noted that it was missing Plantain Seed.

”To miss an ingredient in a simple prescription like Poria Cocos Acid-Reducing Pills, a school doctor is indeed a school doctor, not quite up to standard,” Song Wei said, not grasping Ye Haochuan’s intention and assuming it was a mistake due to insufficient medical skills.

”What, missing an ingredient?”

”Typical of a school doctor, pretty mediocre. He even leaves out an ingredient in the prescription.”

The audience below also started ridiculing Ye Haochuan, which made Song Wei even more proud.

”I intentionally did not include Plantain Seed in my prescription,” Ye Haochuan said calmly, ignoring the mockery.

”Plantain Seed is key for promoting urination. If this ingredient is missing from the formula, it’s likely that the acid guided out by Poria cannot be expelled... Your prescription is essentially a death sentence, a disgrace to our medical community,” Song Wei said maliciously.

Ye Haochuan ignored Song Wei and said, ”If I’m not mistaken, uncle has already tried Poria Cocos Acid-Reducing Pills, right? But the effect was negligible.”

The patient quickly nodded, ”You’re right, I’ve taken twelve doses of Poria Cocos Acid-Reducing Pills to no avail, which is why I came to seek help from Old Master Kou, hoping to find a more effective treatment solution.”

”Impossible. Poria Cocos Acid-Reducing Pills are highly effective in reducing uric acid; how could they not work?” Song Wei interjected.

”Some people think they’re high and mighty just because they’ve read a few books and rush out to treat patients, but they’re merely armchair strategists,” Ye Haochuan said to Song Wei.

Not wanting to admit defeat, Song Wei challenged, ”Then explain to us, why your Poria Cocos Acid-Reducing Pills without the addition of Plantain Seed would work, but mine wouldn’t?”

Ye Haochuan smiled and explained, ”Just now, through my inspection diagnosis of the patient, I’ve identified a typical ’Sparrow Pecking Pulse.’ What is ’Sparrow Pecking Pulse’? It refers to a pulse that seems urgent, fast, and the rhythm irregular, stopping and starting again, resembling the manner of a bird pecking at food.”

Song Wei was taken aback and immediately checked the patient’s pulse. Indeed, the patient’s pulse was just as Ye Haochuan had described.

However, his face changed instantly, horrified that just by inspection, the young doctor could ascertain the pulse condition—it was unbelievable!

”Even if it’s a ’Sparrow Pecking Pulse,’ what does that have to do with your lack of Plantain Seed?” Song Wei stubbornly continued to question.

”Why should I tell you?” Ye Haochuan chuckled, ”However, if you really want to know, I might just tell you.”
