A '70s Flash Marriage: Raising Cubs, Making Millions

Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Delivering Medicine at Night

”Sister-in-law, he’s not even human! I pulled him to run through the obstacle course once, and he pulled me to run it twenty times. Twenty times... I feel like my breath hurts now.” Wang Lu looked at Fu Xiaoxiao with resentment, almost on the verge of tears from exhaustion.

In the past, when he followed Lu Feng, he was punished up to ten times at most, usually only five or six times and it would be over.

Because the two of them had their waists tied together with a rope, they had to cooperate to get through the obstacles.

Fu Cheng, this freak, dragged him through it a full twenty times.

”You worked hard.” Fu Xiaoxiao twitched the corner of her mouth. Normally, the military training would only be intense during major military activities; otherwise, it was two to three times a week, five or six rounds each time.

”Ugh.” The thing that annoyed Wang Lu the most was that after he was done, he was panting heavily, while Fu Cheng seemed unbothered, only having a bit of sweat on his forehead.

It’s only Lu Feng who has the physical strength to match this freak.

”Perfect timing, stay and eat with us!” Fu Xiaoxiao chuckled lightly, having calculated the food portions, she had made a big pot of rice.

”Thank you, sister-in-law, then I won’t be polite.” Wang Lu knew about Fu Xiaoxiao’s cooking skills and agreed with a smile, besides, he was really too tired to move.

Five adults and two kids; today Fu Xiaoxiao directly prepared six dishes and a soup, using all the preserved meat from Lu Feng’s room.

Lu Lin and Lu Chen had been lacking nutrition before, so Fu Xiaoxiao usually made an extra egg custard for them every day.

Thus, on the square table, with six dishes, one soup, and rice bowls for seven people, the table was completely filled.

”Let’s eat.” With Fu Xiaoxiao’s command, everyone eagerly reached out their chopsticks to grab the dishes.

”Mmm mmm mmm! Sister-in-law’s cooking is really great...” Wang Lu mumbled with his mouth full, talking as he ate.

”If there’s a lot, eat more, we’ve got plenty of rice.” Fu Xiaoxiao smiled, scooping more food onto Lu Lin and Lu Chen’s plates.

After the meal, Lin Qiu and Lin Xue noticed the sky had darkened and prepared to leave.

Before leaving, Lin Qiu took out their food stamps and placed them in Fu Xiaoxiao’s hand.

Fu Xiaoxiao frowned, Lin Qiu knew what she was about to say and shook her head, refusing to let her speak. ”If you consider us friends, accept it. You have two kids, we can’t just eat your food for free. This is the food stamp from me, Xiao Xue, and Fu Cheng, you must accept it, or we won’t come anymore.”

”Alright, alright, I’ll accept it, no need to threaten me with words like that.” Fu Xiaoxiao said with amusement and accepted the food stamps.

”But did you really bring Fu Cheng into your group?” Fu Xiaoxiao didn’t forget to tease Lin Qiu.

Lin Qiu blushed but admitted generously. ”He already is.”

Given all the food Fu Cheng has procured for her over the years, it’s only right for her to take care of him.

”Stay safe here for a couple more days, I’ll come visit you again tomorrow.” Lin Qiu said seriously to Fu Cheng who was standing behind Fu Xiaoxiao.

”I’ll wait for you.” Fu Cheng, hearing that Lin Qiu would come to find her again, stopped his steps that were originally about to follow her, and watched as she left with Lin Xue.

”Sister-in-law, so how are you guys going to sleep tonight?” Wang Lu hadn’t left yet; he was looking at Fu Xiaoxiao and Fu Cheng with a look of concern.

”Let him sleep in Lu Feng’s room! I’ve already changed the bed linens for him.” Fu Xiaoxiao thought for a moment and said.

”Mr. Lu doesn’t like others going into his room. Mrs. Fu, he can’t sleep in Dad’s room.” Lu Lin glanced at Fu Xiaoxiao, tugged at her clothes, and whispered into her ear when she crouched down.

”Is that so...” Fu Xiaoxiao was momentarily stunned, only then realizing she should get Lu Feng’s permission first. So now...

”Tonight my brother and I will sleep with Mom, and this uncle can sleep in our bed!” Lu Chen giggled and hugged Fu Xiaoxiao.

He finally had the chance to sleep with his mom.

Lu Lin was stunned, looking at Lu Chen. Since when did this little guy start sleeping in Fu Xiaoxiao’s bed?

Fu Xiaoxiao tweaked Lu Chen’s nose, knowing this little rascal always had bright ideas, she didn’t mind, but Lu Lin...

He might not be willing, right?

”Lu Lin might not...” Fu Xiaoxiao was about to say that Lu Lin wouldn’t agree when Lu Lin spoke first.

”Okay.”

Fu Xiaoxiao paused, Lu Lin lowered his head, his face flushed.

”Then it’s settled.” Fu Xiaoxiao chuckled, confirming the decision.

Thus, Fu Cheng was arranged to stay in the room of Lu Lin and Lu Chen, while Fu Xiaoxiao slept with the two children in her larger bed.

”Yay!” Lu Chen was overjoyed and pulled Lu Lin to get ready for a bath. ”Brother, let’s go take a bath!”

Lu Chen knew Fu Xiaoxiao didn’t like dirty kids, they had to be clean to be allowed on Mrs. Fu’s bed.

After Wang Lu left, Fu Cheng lay in the room of the two brothers, recalling the events of the day, especially Lin Qiu not being averse to him and arranging everything for him.

A rare gentle expression appeared on his cold face.

Thinking of today’s training, Fu Cheng relaxed at staying in the army, as such training posed no challenge to him at all.

He had often chased bears in the dead of winter, for three days and three nights, it was normal for him.

As long as he stayed, he could secure a future for her, let her become his woman, and have babies for him!

She would always be his!

Sleeping alongside Fu Xiaoxiao for the first time, Lu Lin was so nervous he didn’t know where to put his hands, while Lu Chen, comfortably used to it, snuggled into Fu Xiaoxiao’s arms, and soon fell asleep.

Noticing the stiffness beside her, Fu Xiaoxiao smiled. ”Xiao Chen said he doesn’t want to meet your mom. I was thinking, how about that day we first go to your Grandpa Bai’s house, bring him some mountain goods, then let Xiao Chen play there for a while, and I’ll accompany you.”

The initially tense Lu Lin relaxed upon hearing Fu Xiaoxiao. ”I’m okay with that.”

”Then it’s settled!” Fu Xiaoxiao nodded, feeling sleepy, she yawned. ”Goodnight, Xiao Lin.”

As Fu Xiaoxiao’s breathing gradually steadied, Lu Lin also began to feel drowsy. Smelling the scent from Fu Xiaoxiao’s body, indeed, as Lu Chen said, it was quite pleasant and comforting. ℴℴ𝘮

Gently closing his eyes, Lu Lin slowly drifted into sleep as well.

Once they were both asleep, Fu Xiaoxiao slowly opened her eyes, placing a pillow behind them, she got up, dressed, and quietly left the house with some medicine.

Nighttime was Fu Cheng’s domain. With his experience of outdoor living, no sound escaped his ears. Upon hearing faint noises from the room next door, Fu Cheng instantly opened his eyes, got dressed, and followed out.

Fu Xiaoxiao reached the wall of the family compound, quickened her pace, climbed, and jumped over.

Behind her, Fu Cheng’s eyes flickered with surprise. He hadn’t expected Fu Xiaoxiao to have such agility, which piqued his curiosity even further.

Where was she going at this late hour?

Taking advantage of the night’s cover, Fu Xiaoxiao walked along the small path, following her memory towards Upper River Village, recalling Xiao Heng mentioning that the relocated people were placed in the most remote cowshed.

At the far edge of the village, Fu Xiaoxiao found the shabby cowshed.

Someone inside seemed to be seriously ill, their coughing was so intense, it seemed they might faint any second.
