A '70s Flash Marriage: Raising Cubs, Making Millions

Chapter 72: Chapter 72: The Wild Man Refuses to Leave

Fu Xiaoxiao cooked a big bowl of noodles, and the three of them watched the man eat up all three servings without leaving even the last drop of soup.

If Lin Qiu hadn’t stopped him, he might have licked the bowl.

”When did you get out?” Lin Qiu asked gently, looking at the man after he had eaten his fill.

”The day you left...” The man looked at Lin Qiu, displeasure in his eyes.

”Then how did you find my house?” Fu Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but ask curiously.

The man acted as if he hadn’t heard, just staring at Lin Qiu.

Fu Xiaoxiao raised her eyebrows, oh? He ate her noodles and is giving her attitude?

”Xiao Xiao, don’t get upset.” Lin Qiu quickly comforted as he saw Fu Xiaoxiao getting angry.

The man turned to look at Fu Xiaoxiao only because Lin Qiu cared so much about her, pursed his lips, and said, ”That man.”

”That man?” Lin Qiu and Lin Xue were both puzzled, which man?

Fu Xiaoxiao watched him make a driving motion and guessed, ”Are you saying you followed the man who drove to find my house?”

”Mm.” The man nodded, pointing at Fu Xiaoxiao.

Clearly, Fu Xiaoxiao guessed right.

”But didn’t he leave? Why didn’t you?” Fu Xiaoxiao asked. Wang Lu lived in the army, had been to her house a few times, but didn’t live there.

”The smell is too messy.” The man pointed in the direction outside with a frown.

Fu Xiaoxiao guessed that it must be because Wang Lu lived in the barracks, sharing a dormitory with several soldiers, the scent was too overwhelming, and he didn’t dare to get too close, so he lost the lead on Wang Lu.

”You should go back to the mountain quickly!” Lin Qiu looked at him with concern, unsure what to say about him following her all the way to the barracks that day.

The man shook his head and held onto Lin Qiu’s hand, refusing to let go. ”Come with me.”

”My sister can’t go back with you, she can’t live on the mountain, she’s different from you.” Lin Xue stepped forward and grabbed Lin Qiu’s other hand, pulling her towards herself, seeing that the man even wanted to take Lin Qiu away.

The man responded by holding Lin Qiu in his arms, not letting her be pulled away.

Lin Qiu looked helplessly at her sister.

”Xiao Xue, don’t mind him, he has the mindset of a child.” Lin Qiu explained.

”He doesn’t seem to have the mindset of a child to me.” Fu Xiaoxiao shook her head, he could analyze, knew she could find Lin Qiu, this wasn’t the thought process of a child. ”He just forgot how to speak, he’s not unaware.”

”You’ve been off the mountain for so long, you came to find her, so what after you’ve found her? What if she doesn’t want to leave with you?” Lin Xue crossed her arms, glaring at the man.

If he wanted her sister to go up the mountain to suffer hardships, no way would she agree.

”I... stay.” The man insisted on not letting go of Lin Qiu, domineeringly holding her waist, treating her as his possession.

Fu Xiaoxiao observed Lin Qiu, noticing she didn’t resist, as if she was already accustomed to his behavior.

”Sister Qiu, you and him...” Fu Xiaoxiao looked at Lin Qiu, who blushed with embarrassment. ”He... he treats me as his wife.”

”Earlier he probably heard villagers on the mountain talking about ’wife, wife,’ and then he said I was his wife, said it several times, no matter how I explained, he wouldn’t listen. I treated him like a child, so I just let him be.” Lin Qiu explained, as the man’s previous behaviors led her to believe his mindset was that of a child.

So when he said those things, she always felt he was still a child, just talking, but he took it seriously.

In Changqing Village, she would often be driven out to gather firewood in the cold winter, the man saved her several times, she was very grateful to him, in those years they were practically relying on each other to survive.

Every time she was in danger, he would appear to save her.

He was special in her heart, but as to what specifically, Lin Qiu never thought about it.

Back then, besides surviving and not worrying her sister, she had no other thoughts.

”We’ll talk about it later, the problem now is what to do about him?” Fu Xiaoxiao saw the way the man looked at Lin Qiu, it was the way a man looks at the woman he loves, but Lin Qiu didn’t think so, she thought it was just childlike dependence.

Fu Xiaoxiao didn’t point it out, these things require personal realization, she couldn’t say too much.

The question now is, what to do with this man?

”Can you go back to the mountain? There’s really no place here where you can stay.” Lin Qiu was also anxious, there’s no way she could take him in here, her sister taking her in was understandable, but bringing a man, what would that look like!

”Come with me.” The man held Lin Qiu’s hand tightly, speaking earnestly.

”I can’t leave, I have to stay here, this is my home.” Lin Qiu looked at the man, shaking her head.

”Where you are, I am.” The man gave Lin Qiu a deep look and released her hand.

”...” Lin Xue and Fu Xiaoxiao exchanged glances, was this man dead-set on staying by Lin Qiu’s side?

”Stop making a fuss, will you?” Lin Qiu pleaded with the man, who turned his head away, displeased, ignoring her.

Seeing that Lin Qiu couldn’t persuade him, the man was willing on all else but unwilling to leave Lin Qiu’s side.

”If you follow her, people will scold her and bully her.” Fu Xiaoxiao had a flash of inspiration and said to the man.

Sure enough, as soon as Fu Xiaoxiao finished speaking, the man’s hand froze.

”If you want to be with her, you have to seriously learn knowledge, learn how to integrate with everyone, and also learn to earn money to support her, buy her new clothes, buy her food.” Fu Xiaoxiao continued.

Lin Qiu shook her head. ”I don’t need him to support me, I can work hard with him.”

She also didn’t know how to repay him for protecting her all these years, if he really wanted to learn, she wouldn’t need him to support her, she would take care of him.

Just like he had taken care of her these past few years.

”Sis!” Lin Xue looked at Lin Qiu disapprovingly.

This is such a big responsibility, and her sister just takes it on?

”Xiao Xue, you just need to know that if it weren’t for him protecting me all these years, I might have already died.” Lin Qiu turned back to look at Lin Xue, speaking earnestly to her sister.

She used to think he just pitied her, so he kept helping her, and once she left, he wouldn’t have to work so hard.

But he chased after her, and Lin Qiu couldn’t just throw him aside, so it’s better to simply accept it.

Lin Xue looked at her sister, looked at the wild man, bit her lip, but didn’t voice any more opposition.

”For the next couple of days, let him stay in Lu Feng’s room temporarily. When Lu Feng gets back, I’ll ask him if there’s a way to help.” Fu Xiaoxiao saw the situation and decided the only way to help was to check with Lu Feng.

”Is that okay? If someone sees him at your house... how are you going to explain it?” Lin Xue disagreed, shaking her head.

There’s no reason for Fu Xiaoxiao to take the blame.

”Then... let’s say he’s my cousin, come to check on me?” Fu Xiaoxiao thought for a moment, he needed a legitimate identity, otherwise... if someone saw him, it really wouldn’t be easy to explain.
